We purchased a vacation home about 3 years ago which needed work. Aasen Construction was…read morerecommended to us by a neighbor. The first project he did for us was our deck. When we bought the house the deck was in such poor shape we were afraid to use it. Steve totally reconstructed the deck and expanded it to what it is today, one of the best features of the house. We love entertaining on it and just enjoying it in the evening. The second project was a complete remodel of the downstairs. Our kitchen was tiny and very outdated to the point it was not very functional. There was no counter or cabinet space and the refrigerator took up half the kitchen. He took our pantry, which was pretty big, and made half of it an alcove for a new decent sized refrigerator and still had half of the pantry with a pocket door. He had new custom cabinets built and a custom buffet to match. The counters now have granite counter tops. He remodeled the bathroom and replaced our plain old doors with beautiful pine doors. We had him install new hickory wood floors and installed wood beams to match the ones already there to accommodate a new chandelier. One of the most impressive projects was installing a 12 ft. sliding glass door, where a single door and two windows were. It opens up onto our beautiful deck. Steve was extremely professional and we could not have had a better experience. He made sure that everything was done to perfection and most importantly to our expectations. We will be calling on Steve to do more projects in the future. We highly recommend Aasen Construction to anyone who has expectations as high as ours. Steve is one of the nicest guys we know and consider him now a friend. Thanks Steve

Steve was awesome to work with. He has done a couple jobs for us. One was framing and sheetrock…read more It was the best sheetrock job we have ever seen done. The crew was very meticulous, even finishing it off with a bead of caulk on the ceiling inside corners. Since I was the one painting it, I can say that this made it so much easier to paint! Steve and his crew were completely professional, they did a great job cleaning up afterwards, and were sure to take care of all the little details. We also used Steve for a tile backsplash in the kitchen, and that turned out fantastic. Again we saw the attention to detail that makes it obvious Steve has a passion for what he does. He laid out the different tiles and set aside tiles whose pattern didn't quite match the layout he was doing, or that had somewhat chipped edges. We also changed some things last minute and Steve rolled right along with it. We love how the backsplash turned out. Knowing that Steve will put as much care or even more into the projects as I would myself gave me a huge peace of mind. I would definitely have no hesitation in calling Steve back for another project.

Capital-Carpentry - Painting work at my office: ceiling, walls, doors and trims by Eugene and his team (Capital Carpentry Handyman)

I honestly thought it was going to be a huge problem, but he worked magic. He figured out exactly what needed to be done, made everything fit beautifully, and the finished result looks perfect. He was incredibly professional from start to finish, communicated clearly, arrived on time, and treated my home with care and respect. He worked impressively fast without ever cutting corners, and it was obvious right away that he is highly skilled and truly knows his craft. What stood out most was how kind, friendly, and respectful he was. So many contractors can be gruff or difficult to work with, but Evgeny was the complete opposite -- patient, warm, and genuinely pleasant. His pricing was very fair, and the value for the quality of work was outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Both times he provided clear reports, complete with photos and detailed descriptions of issues and concerns he discovered. Almost two years later, we hired him again to inspect our tile job as we had significant lippage that our builder was unwilling to fix. I called him and explained to him our situation, and he quickly accepted the job, citing his minimal charge is $200 for coming out. I agreed and we set a time and date for the inspection. He arrived at the agreed time and spent almost 3 hours at our home, inspecting both bathrooms and marking in painters tape all tiles with adjacent tiles exceeding the industry standards for lippage. At the end, he asked for payment in cash or check, so I paid him $200 in cash. Before he left, he said he'd get our report to us "hopefully sooner than later" and that he would need to figure out how to put his findings in a report as his standard report wouldn't work for this job. I said a letter with details of his findings would suffice, as we wanted something from a professional to give to our builder. That was one month ago and we have not been able to get in touch with him. I've texted him 4 times, and called him 3 times with no response. His voicemail is full so we are unable to leave a message. He has essentially taken our money and ran. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. I am uncertain if the issue is with lacking the knowledge to complete the report, or if it's a personal matter, but failing to respond to multiple contacts after being paid in full for a job is unacceptable and unethical.

Very thorough inspection, and was able to fit us in at the last minute! Highly recommend.read more

Fortunately the electrical did not need to be moved, and the price was very reasonable for the job. When he finished installing the door, he caulked around the edges to make sure the installation was seamless. He was professional, timely, and did a wonderful job. I am super happy with how everything turned out!

Here is my experience in April 2024 having Denis Handyman Services do some repair work on my home…read more Issue #1. Kitchen "Smell & Oven Smoke" issue. Denis verified that the range fan and air duct worked OK. However, he did not investigate any further. He did not test the smoke detectors upstairs and downstairs. He did not examine the HVAC duct. He did not perform any test (such as a smoke candle test) to determine if there was a leak in the HVAC duct. He just walked away from the problem. He offered no solution or directions to his clients. Issue #2. Master Bathroom Air Vent. Denis turned the fan ON for 10 minutes but didn't observe any brown fluid dripping onto the tile floor. He did not bother to investigate any further. He was clueless. He did not know what caused the brown fluid to drain from the air vent. He just walked away from the problem. He offered no real solution or directions to his clients. He proposed to replace the ceiling exhaust fan only because he wanted to seize the opportunity to make more money. The investigation Denis performed was something that I or any other layperson could do hands down. He made $200 for 30 minutes of his time. His service is of little or no value to me. I am not satisfied at all with his work. He was incompetent. While Denis made his easy money of $200 on his so-called investigation, his actions demonstrated that he was not motivated to help his client solve a problem. He was focused on installing new parts to rake in sky-high profits. He walked away from Issue #1 and submitted a bid for Issue #2. But did he understand what went wrong with either Issue #1 or #2? No. He did not have a clue. Case in point. For Issue #1, he walked away. For Issue #2, he submitted a bid of $550 to replace a simple bathroom ceiling exhaust fan. It was way overpriced. A new fan costs about $50. In other words, he slaps a $500 labor charge for 30 minutes of his precious time. His billing rate of $500 per half hour or $1,000 per hour is far higher than the common attorney billing rate of $300 or $400 per hour. Denis is completely out of line and out of his mind. I rate Denis 1 out of 5 stars. I would rate him zero stars on Yelp if I could.
