We picked Alex & Co for its location by the Parramatta River and the large, open dining spaces. There were tons of other restaurants as we walked down Church St, and we almost wanted to try something else, but in the end we stuck to it because we were comfortable with the menu choices of standard western fare (pizza, burgers, pasta). When we got there for lunch service on a Saturday, we were told that we could not be served in the main dining area because we didn't have a reservation, despite it being less than a quarter filled. That was fine, but I just found it really weird that for such a nice and large restaurant with so many servers we had to order at the bar and basically got no service. The bartender was nice enough, except when the host went by and chided her for pouring the drinks too full. Stopped in for drinks before dinner. Service was poor, even though there were only a few tables of customers, the young bartender kept disappearing, chatting with a mate and was difficult to get his attention for another drink. read more

Under the massive new tower where the old DJs stood by the river in Parramatta is the areas newest & most highend bar & by that I mean a real bar not another pokie den. Clean, contemporary & comfortable layout whether you're getting a drink at the bar or going to the restaurant for a feed. The bar features a good selection of wine, spirits & beer at prices that are quite reasonable considering the venue. The food ranges from some very good bat snacks to plenty of small plates, sharing plates or mains. The prices are on the higher side for Parramatta but considering what you are getting a completely reasonable compared to what it would cost for similar elsewhere. read more

Worst dining experience in a long time. I'm not exaggerating here. The whole night was a disaster from the moment we sat down and had to ask 3 times for table water. The couple who sat down after us were given the meals and left before us. Took over an hour and a half for our undercooked risotto and over priced steak to arrive. The steak was meant to come with a small pouring portion of jus. After struggling to get someone attention he stood up and asked another section waiter about the missing jus. Drinks took several prompts from us to arrive as it took them 15 minutes to pour a glass of wine... You would think that with a place who's drink and food menu is 4:1 (weird right? ) they would at least have their shit together. The only reason we got our wine was that our waiter got fed up and stood next to the bar and got him to pour it then and there. One star goes to our waiter who had to put up with all of this. He was incredibly understanding, embarrassed on the restaurants behalf and apologetic (I think he's left working there now and who could blame him). After pointing out the issues with our meals that took so long to reach out table, the manager offered a glass of wine (which took another 15min and a couple of mentions to our attentive waiter). You would think that if the back of house has fucked a table up so much a manager would be more attentive and perhaps even deliver the wine himself. Upon paying for our meal, the managers interpretation of "taking care of the bill" was a complementary glass of wine that came after I finished my meal because of the long wait. We brought this to the attention of our waiter and he spoke to an older gentleman who looked like the owner. This prompted a $50 gift Gift that could ONLY be used the next time. I was so done at that point that I explained I wouldn't be going back or send my friends to this place. We both knew it was a superfluous geature. The owner still refused our logic and I ended up paying $90-100 for the most disappointing dining experience. When the manager arrived back before we left, we gave contructive critisim and he seemed unaware about the bill situation at the end of the night. He offered to fix it but we advised him that I'd already paid and it was too late. Just a waste of what was supposed to be a nice date night. And to think they suggested sending my friends here after that terrible experience (a lot of my friends are food bloggers, chefs, bar managers, in hospo, Concrete Playground/Good Food, media/digital marketers and people who have taste buds). I would be embarrassed to reccomended this place. I've only just scratched the tip of the iceberg with ALEX & Co but they've wasted enough of my time as it is. All I can say is RUN... RUN FAR AWAY from this prestigious imposter restaurant. This place doesn't deserve to take customers money nor stay in business. I don't say that lightly. read more

Luxury and pricey but not delicious. You can find lots of well-designed foods with horrible taste.

This is a restaurant that as absolutely horrible! Where to start... we waited 20 minutes to be served and the waiter ended up forgetting to bring the drinks out to our table. Another 20 minutes into our lunch we had high hopes for the lovely open atmosphere and funky music. Low and behold, our food came out sporadically when we specifically asked for it to all be brought out together. The pizza was soggy, the skewers were cold and bland. Would definitely not come here again. The only nice thing about the place is the toilets. They were clean... oh and the drinking water too. read more

Poor customer service, Staff did not look happy to be working, had to call staff every time we needed something including cutlery! Waited to see how long it took to clear our dishes, in the end we asked for the bill and left and went elsewhere. Won't be back anytime soon. read more
