Not a whole bunch of shaded areas on playground, and you can smell the dumpsters really strongly in the heat, as they are right at entrance of playground. The very large playground includes a shaded bench for the grownups while the little ones are on one of the two climbing frames or the large swing set. Picnic tables and the pavilion can be reserved. There is a good dog park in the shade that is completely fenced in with regulations posted. It's interesting how much sponsorship they have going here. I think that's great. My husband…read moreand I attended the opening show of their free summer concert series, and we were in awe of how well-maintained this park is, and how organized our entire experience was. We arrived around 5:30 PM to claim our seats on the lawn, and thankfully we were able to find a parking spot right near the pedestrian bridge across the street. The city posted a very detailed map of parking options on their Instagram page ... and the amazing thing is, not only is all of that parking free, but there is a free shuttle that will take folks back and forth to their spots if they are unable to walk that far (or even if they just don't want to!) The openers started at 7 PM, and then the main act started around 8:15 PM. This gave the crowd plenty of time to get situated in their spots, grab some snacks, hit the restrooms, or even ride the carousel! This was a family-friendly outdoor concert, and they did a great job of having food/drink/activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. A glass of wine or a can of beer was just $5 each ... which felt like a steal since I'm used to spending more than double that for the same pour at other concert venues. The show itself was awesome ... we saw The Fray and they were everything we wanted them to be and more. The sound and lighting were both great. The layout of the park allowed many folks to stay in their folding chairs for the majority of the show, and still be able to see what was going on on-stage. Five stars all around for Village Park and the city of Kannapolis ... more cities should take note of what a great job they are doing here to engage their community!

Best of all it's free to the public. It has fields, colorful playground equipment and tennis courts. Next to it is also a splash pad. There are several areas to get out of the sun and cooking areas. I think the Kiwanis and Zahra Baker parks are named for the adjoins areas of the park.

They have two specific play areas. One for toddlers, ages 2-5, and one for bigger kids, 2-12. Most of the toddler play area is covered with the exception of the swings. There is a unisex bathroom with a changing table directly beside the playground area. The playground is walking distance of the YMCA and several athletic fields. The athletic fields have a nice, gravel walking path around them. We had a great time at Hope Park and would love to go back.
