I'm writing this review because I don't want anyone else to go through what I have went though with this experience. Before: I purchased a groupon after reading reviews and decided to try microblading.. My eyebrows were naturally thick but crooked on one side because of a balding patch, I had to draw it in every day and that was what needed to be fixed, natural microblading to match my eyebrows. After: I asked for microblading, no Ombre. The after result was a nightmare that I have been living for years now; the results: overplucked (without my consent), crooked (looks like I am giving everyone a dirty look) and orange (bc they were shaded in without my consent, opened my eyes and there it was and her response was she wasn't going to charge me.) Current: I have to use concealer everyday to cover the uneven orange tint left on my skin bc of ombre, re-draw my now, thin eyebrows so they match and put vitamins/serums so one day my eyebrows grow back to the way they were - hopefully. Consider yourself warned if your reading this .. I should have listened to the other reviewer. read more

I feel conflicted about giving Alex three stars. Before I begin, I will say that she is great at her craft, and the pictures prove it. That is why I chose to go to her to begin with. So why the three stars? I'll explain. I first found out about her through Groupon. I purchased it and then called to set up my appointment. On the phone, she sounded upset that I was a Groupon client. From reading other people's reviews, it sounds like this is a recurring theme. Why list yourself with Groupon if you don't want people buying them? Strike one. When I showed up for my appointment, she sold me HARD on getting ombré shading, saying that microblading is an old technique and wouldn't last long with my (oily) skin type. Getting ombré would have cost me a few hundred dollars more, so i really felt she was up-selling me rather than just providing the service I had purchased. I told her I've gotten microblading done before and it lasted me more than two years, so that's the service I want to stick with since it provides the most natural look. She finally agreed. Strike two. During the service, we chatted a bit and I asked why she decided to set up shop in the Valley since she doesn't live around there. Her answer? She doesn't want to service Asian clients. Awkward. Cause I'm Asian. She's Asian. Rude. Strike three. I think Alex is talented, but her attitude about servicing Asian clients, those using Groupon, and her pushing for me to upgrade to the ombré service just turned me off completely, so I don't think I'll return. read more

I'm so glad I found her. I liked online a lot and did my research well. I am a special case as i had my brows change color from a previous tattoo from ten years ago. Buyer Beware: SEARCH FOR LATEST RATINGS: I hesitated writing a negative review after my visit 2 months ago, because it's a small business, which I wholehearted support. But when I saw that someone had the same experience , I felt guilty thinking posting my experience might have saved her her negative experience. I too purchased a Groupon deal. My former brow lady, who was fabulous, moved to Beverly Hills and I assumed I couldn't afford her. So I bought Groupon, assuming Alex was brand new and thought I'd give her a small business owner a chance. Alex severely lack of diplomatic skills in combination of her arrogance, is a recipe for suicide for a small business. She bashed microblading for "older" women (she ain't no spring chicken herself being close to my age), and insisted on ombre instead. She went on to insult my former brow lady's work. Strangely, a spa aesthetician commented on how my microbladed brows were one of the best she's seen. Yes, the strokes faded but they look great after 2+ years. Prior to my visit with Alex, I tried to book an appointment on her website, but a deposit was required. I saw that she had so many openings available, screaming "red flag" to me. Yet, when I called her to ask if the deposit was still required with a Groupon voucher. She said I should have called her before buying the Groupon. How was I supposed to know? She scheduled the appointment right then, claiming she only had one available time, right smack in the middle of a workday, necessitating me to lose significant time from work. I even sent her pictures of my brows in advance so she could let me know what to expect. When I arrived for my appointment, she gave me the speech she gave Shelly J. I admire small business owners and want to help them in any way. However, pulling a bait and switch, then blaming Groupon for this mess. I don't think Groupon held a gun to her head to contract with them. There is a silver lining. I am grateful to Alex because she was a serious slap in the face as to how great my brow gal is. Thanks to Alex, I went back to work and immediately scheduled an appointment with Cindy Choe, no matter the expense. Yet Cindy graciously offers her long time customers a great discount. She does amazing work. I am not being vindictive but a woman's face is too precious to take a chance and I would want to know before going under the "needle". I can't vouch for Alex's work, but I am not about to take a chance with her attitude. I was afraid she would botch my brows and blame me. I walked out. In my opinion, the positive reviews on yelp are questionable. If this is a review merely out of malice, how is it the 2 strangers have identical experiences within a short time frame? read more

I was scared! I was nervous! I was iffy about how my brows were going to come out! Simply when i go get them tweezed I need to have the same specific person do them! To me eyebrows are the essential feature on your face and they need to be perfect! So...at the beginning when I met Alex and she started explaining the procedure to me I calmed down and thought humm ok ok I'm sure I can trust Alex. So I left everything to her hands...and guess what! I love the way my eyebrows came out!!! Alex did an amazing job!!! She draws the eyebrow that best fits your face structure and chooses the color! Alex did a great job. I got the microblading plus shading. It is expensive, but if you like full colored in brows it's a better option to microblading aloneShe explained everything during the process and answered all my questions. I'm not quite sure why I haven't left a review for Alex yet, I thought I did. Anyways, I've been going to her for literally 2 years ! 5 stars for her! At first I bought a Groupon and then after that, I just kept going back for a touch up. I loved my brows and the shape she recreated! I have extremely thin and light eyebrows and I wanted a more Fuller look. Microblading or Shading-- depending on your pain tolerance can have a little pins and needles feel (for me) but I can handle it. She does put numbing cream on your eyebrows but she will ask you if you can tolerate the pain. She totally knows exactly where the discomfort might start because once I feel it she asks if I'm okay right away. She does offer numbing spray during the process but I decide not to get any because I want the product to last longer. I have super oily skin! I've done microblading with her w/ complimentary touch up because of groupon, shading, and ombre powder. She's very honest, she will tell you "you don't need a touch up" if it still looks good but for me I wanted to go a little darker lol! There's parking but you have to park in the back of the lot, her studio is nice and clean and there's a bench right in front of her studio while you wait. She accepts card as well so that's great! I was quite worried it would be very painful... I mean someone is manually putting ink into your skin. I was totally wrong, a topical numbing cream is applied for 20 minutes prior to the procedure. Alex and Tina go over what to expect, the healing process and after care. After the 20 minutes is up they begin drawing your new brows! The procedure takes about 2-3 hours. For me my eyebrows were swollen right after so I didn't immediately fall in love with them. It's been about a week since my touch up appointment and I'm happy to say they are looking amazing! They are still healing which means itchy and flakey brows. I would highly recommend Alex K. All the tools she used were clean and new. I was even given after care ointment. Thank you again! Alex did an impressive job on my brows! I was so worried and nervous to let anyone touch my brows but so happy she did. The facility is so clean and pristine. You sit in it and you feel happy. Her equipments are of course very clean as well. The table you lay on during the procedure is very comfortable since you do need to lay on it for 2-3 hours give or take and she provides a clean blanket in case you're cold. The blading procedure itself wasn't as painful or uncomfortable as I had anticipated. In fact, not painful at all. Thank you numbing cream! Parking is also a bliss (2 hr free) I came in with barely any hair on my brows and Alex transformed them completely (see photos) She is also very knowledgeable and thorough when she informs you about how to upkeep your newly microbladed brows. I had an eyebrow tattoo done nearly 10 years ago that turned grayish blue and was not done very well. At first, I thought my only option was to get tattoo laser removal, which would've been costly, time consuming, and painful, and start all over, or just leave it as is and stay unhappy with my brows. However, upon meeting with Alex, she carefully assessed my situation and thought quickly outside of the box. She explained everything carefully. She had a deep knowledge of which color and shape would match my face and skin tone. I knew I could trust her and decided to go with her professional opinion upon weighing my options, which was to first change my grayish blue tattoo to dark brown using color theory via tattoo, then wait for the scab to fall off. If the dark brown faded, I would get microblading. If it stayed somewhat dark, I would get ombré shading. I was thrilled to know that no matter what, it would work out either way and I could also get the thicker shape I'd always wanted. Although my case was tough and complicated, Alex managed to provide options and alternatives that worked best for me. Her talent, effort, and passion was apparent. I could tell she was treating my situation as if it were her own and genuinely cared about the best outcome for me. I was very nervous about the pain. However, upon applying the numbing cream, I felt zero pain and was immediately put at ease. She also put a small blanket on top of me to keep me warm and played soothing spa music. The table I was laying on was also top of the line, so I felt comfortable. She began tattooing and I felt nothing. Although the procedure took almost two hours, it felt like less than an hour. Time flew by as she checked in to make sure I was okay. I was very happy with the new tattoo and my colleagues at work were raving, saying they loved her work and were converted. They said they would go to her for their eyebrows. I had no pain or swelling after the procedure and already feel so happy, great, and excited. I'm looking forward to receiving the final touch up and the final outcome (and so are my friends and coworkers!). I'm already receiving compliments early in the process! Now, I've decided to also move forward with an eyelash perm and eyeliner tattoo with Alex. She is a beauty queen herself as she is beautiful, inside and out, and also in her work. Alex is so kind, friendly and does amazing work. I found her on Groupon and Yelp and saw that she did great work and her rates are so affordable compared to other microblading studios in the LA are. I contacted her on Yelp and made an appointment. Parking is free and her studio was very easy to locate. I arrived the day of my appointment, a bit nervous as this is semi-permanent and on your face, but Alex explained the entire process. She informed me about the importance of aftercare and what to expect. She explained that the first few days after the procedure would look very intense and dark and after it would start to peel and itch as it healed. I showed her pictures of how I generally shape my brows and also showed her a photo of a previous client which she did microblading for that I liked the shape of. This gave Alex a good understanding of how I wanted my brows to be shaped. She put numbing cream on my brows and started to map them to my preference. Then she got started with the microblading. The pain wasn't bad and she was also very accommodating and frequently asked how I was doing. After about an hour I was done. She gave me a small zip lock that had a few cotton swabs, q-tips and A+D ointment and also explained how often to apply etc. She also scheduled me for my touchup session and told me to text her if I had any questions or concerns. The entire procedure took about 2.5 hours. She was so nice, friendly and thorough with her work. The next few days I was still a bit nervous as they looked super super dark and were a bit sore. However, as Alex explained the color faded significantly compared to the first few days and now I'm so happy with the results and I'm excited for my touchup appointment. She is extremely accommodating with the appointment day and time and quickly responds to texts. Her clean, quiet studio is located on the second floor in the heart of Sherman Oaks. She is a beautiful, caring person inside and out. With regard to the pain after the procedure, I would say it's like a slight sunburn. She uses numbing cream and it was very tolerable level. I went through 3 separate brow procedure in last 10 years. All of them were involving similar micro blading techniques.... because of the early age of the technicality, my brow suffered tremendous trauma. Eventually I had to take the pigments out with laser treatment about 4 years ago. From that my brow somehow remained red and lost a lot of brow hairs... I was so sad for over 3 years.... until I found Alex. I explained all my experiences to Alex and she did take plenty time to explain options and colors. I flew from Northern California to get my brow done. I decided on technique called " ombre powder". And I cant express how happy I am with the result. I cant wait to see the finished, healed eye brow. I am on day 3. Her work space was clean and professional but cute. She played calm music during my procedure, and helped me to relax. She made sure I wasn't feeling any pain or discomfort. She chose the perfect color for my red eye brow so it will cover completely and possibly look natural also. I scheduled an apt with Alex because I saw her groupon deals, but when I saw Her she then convinced me that microblading is not going to work for my brows (groupon deal cost ($200) and that ombré powder look would be a better fit for me which she charged me $600 w/ touch up included. Fast forward to my second apt for my touch up and my eyebrow microshading that Alex did turns out really uneven, one was darker and the other side was wayyy too light. I contacted her to fix it and she said she would but we couldn't agree on the right time and date. I live 3 1/2 hrs away (each way) from her salon location and actually drove twice for the procedure so imagine my frustration when I realized I had to drive again the third time for her to fix my messed up brows that Alex did. She agreed to fix it but she was not flexible with her time considering it is her who cost me so much money and hassle ( poor costumer service) and also cancelled on me the day before our set apt. Alex was nice when I first met her but on my second apt I had to wait for her for a total of 20 min while she chat on the phone, I thought it was so unprofessional but I let it slide, but during my procedure someone keeps calling her and she actually stop doing my brows to answer the phone 3 times and I could tell she was not at all focus on the procedure that she was doing and that is why my touch up turns out bad and uneven. I finally told her I couldn't go to her salon anymore because I had to leave for out of country trip . I really felt unsatisfy to the outcome of my eyebrows and for the $600 + $100 tip that I gave her I could have found someone more professional and could do a better microshading on my brows.
