I am making an amendment to my first Yelp review! My first experience was with David Bartels with…read morethe Shep Law Group, however, I do not think he is there anymore! My divorce lasted a year and a half, and I didn't end up getting even visitation with my children, and I am the woman! Usually it is the man that doesn't get any custody! I was absolutely heartbroken! I've never heard of anyone getting divorced from their children! I know Ron and Brenda tried everything they could, I just believe that the court system is very corrupt! I spent $70,000 and I didn't get any custody not even visitation, as it sits right now. I don't know if I will ever see my children again! I did get a settlement that was my God given right to have! I still believe my husband made out with so much money that was hidden. Honestly, the whole thing was the biggest disappointment of my whole entire life! I have to learn how to go on with my life without my children, money doesn't really matter! I was gonna get some no matter what! I gave Ron and Brenda, five stars because of how hard they tried! My husband just had more money and better lies!

For months he promised to file contempt and civil actions to get monetary value for my property. First it was he didnt want to file because our home was for sale and didnt want to "stir up a hornets nest" because i needed her signature to close the home as the market was plummeting. She filed frivolous motion after motion and emails pro se burning through thousands of my money and he couldnt even best a half wit at hearings. When house finally closed i demanded he file now after 4 months of burning through 9k in my money never recovering any of my property. Even after the sale he came up with excuse after excuse as to why he hadnt filed. He finally sent a demand letter in mid Jan giving her 10 days to pay or suit was finally being filed. 2 weeks after deadline i asked when suit was being filed and just after he asked for yet another 4k for my trust he sent me a letter stating he was dropping me as a client. So he billed me thousands for paperwork and demand letters after asking me to get my missing property from the 80k mark down to 35k so he could file in magistrate in order to recover attorneys fees. Weeks of prep and attorneys fees for a demand letter never filed. Only 2 times we appeared at hearings he was late both times. First time the judge was caught in the same accident traffic so he got a pass from the judge. Second time the judge was on time and kept pushing my hearing because he still wasnt there until the very last case of the hour. I dont care how much traffic there is Meridian to Caldwell isnt a 200 mile commute as a professional you should leave earlier. ******This review was edited after Mr Shepherd sent me a threatening email to sue a 100% disabled vet who is actually going in for spinal procedures at the hospital in 2 hours which further stresses a person who he was hired to protect. To answer his what i believe untruthful response because this is what he will do when he represents you. He states i "wanted to litigate against his advice". He was the one who stated i had a strong case for liquidation of my property to herself for pennies on the dollar. He wanted me to get it into magistrate court and have the emails stating such so i followed his "expert" opinion and got my actual damages down from 80k to 35k as he suggested. At no time did he tell me to not to litigate any further and anyone who wants to view the emails to that fact is free to see them showing i did everything he asked to sue for damages. He took my case to litigate and shouldnt have if he truly advised against it. As for all the other nonsense i couldve done everything else pro se and paid nothing. For anyone reading these reviews watch how he attacks the poster in all of them that is what our experience was behind closed doors was even worse for us in our opinion.

sometimes You got to remember what your fighting for. Is the price worth it? who will get the job…read moredone? Kevin was my lawyer in a case where I seen him thro out codes to a judge and the judge needed to look them up. This is the kind of lawyer I want standing next to me in court. I feel most reviews are negative and on left when they didn't get there way on the out come of their case. Sometimes we need to leave good reviews also so people can see he did his job and at the end of the day judges are the ones who do all the ruling.

At that time he informed me that our cost for the case would not exceed the retainer we paid him We have a case that is still ongoing that is not a family law case. It wasn't until he started his own company we started to notice a shift. Several calls would go out with fails on his end to return said calls. Then he would finally answer and state "oh hey I was just getting ready to call you"! Yeah ok. We went through months of stuff we had to do to get ready to go into calendar and right before we were supposed to go on calendar, he calls and says he made a mistake and forgot to have me go though a state evaluation that was required for this case. It set us back over a year. After we got everything done, once again it's was a drawn out head ache. Countless unreturned phone calls. I finally asked if this had anything to do with our agreement of paid in full and he reassured me it wasn't, however we were starting to feel that he had other better paying clients and we were put on the back burner. After we submitted a form we had been waiting for, he instructed us to drop it off to his location. I didn't hear anything for several weeks and finally reached out yet again and he said he never received the paperwork I dropped off. He asked where we dropped it off at and I told him his front desk. He insisted I had the wrong office, however I'm quite sure it was the correct one as anyone knows his office it's hard to confuse it with anyone else's since his business cards are there, and his law firm name is not only at the door but also on the wall. The receptionist took my form and let me know he was in a meeting. I started to receive emails stating I owe money for services and I called to enquire about them. This was a little confusing since he mentioned when I came over to his law firm that he would handle the case without any additional fees. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a thing with him. I refused to pay it since he agreed to do the case and not exceed the retainer. At this point I had it. I asked for my file and told the lady at the counter that I was terminating him as our attorney. He never reached out by phone to discuss the matter, instead he sent me a very snarky email stating that I was in the wrong and he never once owned anything that he did wrong. It was all my fault. I responded to the email pointing out where he was wrong, and never received any response back. Now I'm out thousands of dollars that do not reflect the work he did. We contacted several other attorneys after this and all questioned Kevin's handling of the case and didn't understand why certain things weren't done correctly. I would highly, highly, think twice before you retain his services.
