The prices are a little high but it's well worth it to support our local farmers. The fruits and veggies are always nice and fresh. There aren't nearly as many vendors on Wednesdays but if you are just going for fruits and vegetables you won't be disappointed. Angel Farms is my favorite vendor but I do like them all. Atkins nursery from Fallbrook comes down and they always have local avocados.

But that's pretty common these days, not just for Farmer's Market, but parking in general. Lots of food options and I don't just mean vegetables. You could pretty much have breakfast and lunch here. And enough so you can skip dinner. I almost wonder if there are more food options than other vendors. I didn't count. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. I was able to pick up some fresh baby blue eucalyptus plants for my shower, as well as lavender oils to really help with my aromatherapy relaxation routine at home. The Hillcrest Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 9am to 2pm and there are usually well over 150+ vendors set up along University Avenue and Normal Street. Parking is a bit tricky, but we were very lucky to find a spot in a nearby neighborhood. Once we got in, we found a great assortment of meats, sauces, dips, and more. In a somewhat hidden part of the trail, there's a bunch of exotic food options to consider, including flavors from Africa, as well as some tables where you can sit and enjoy the food. There are also flowers, veggies, eggs, honey, and pretty much anything you'd be interested in. I think we shopped for about 45 minutes as casual browsers, and it felt like a good amount of time to get a feel for the place. It's a great spot to support small businesses.

I came here just to try Press Espresso, one of few shops and eateries at this plaza, but didn't realize it was in such a historic place. I initially thought all the shops here were recently build to look like the old west, but in reading about the history on its website, learned that this area has been in existence since 1867. According to the website, it has been the heart of Temecula since then. Originally built by German immigrant, Louis Wolf, it was used as a trading post next to Temecula Creek. After his death in 1905, area was purchased by Arizona cattle baron, Walter Vail, who turned it into a cattle ranch. In 1964, it was sold to developers who turned it into a master-planned community. The area remained vacant for several decades until it was restored fully in 2007. This place now houses several unique shops and eateries, and is also used for events and Farmers Market. This is actually a plaza within a bigger plaza, which has more commercial retailers like Kohl's, Walmart, Marshalls, and several others. Kind of an odd mix, but glad the city decided to keep a portion of its history alive.
