We've executed three separate projects with Alexander Company over the past year--including a complex multi-window setup requiring scaffolding and a sliding glass door installation--and the work has been consistently solid. Trust me, I've had a lot of contractors go through our home in the past year for all sorts of other projects, and these guys were by far the easiest to work with. I hate micromanaging projects because I genuinely don't want to do it, but when service sucks--which happens from time to time--you're forced into it. That was definitely not the case with Alexander. On-site execution is completely turnkey, with permits, heavy installations, and site logistics handled with zero friction. Excellent company to work with! We recently had all the windows in our home replaced, 19 total. They came measured gave estimate, we paid deposit, and 10 weeks later we set install date. The crew came very carefully prepared each area with sheets of plastic to protect from harm. Replaced the old wooden single pain glass windows with beautiful vinyl window. Beautiful work! If we weren't already planning to paint this next fall, you can't tell the windows were just replaced. It took about 4 days. They look beautiful, and habe changed the inside of our home. It's quite now, not as much noise from outdoors, and it's keeping us much cooler so far this summer. I'm sure we will have a drastic change on our heating bill too. .. I have 3 leaky windows that multiple contractors couldn't figure out the source of the leak. Walter came out for a quote and spent time looking at the outside and explaining why it's so hard to find the root cause of leaks. He called out that I could spend a lot of money fixing the stucco and replacing windows and the source could be something else given the weird leak I was experiencing. He didn't push anything on me and even suggested not to do the work as it'd be expensive and he couldn't guarantee it'd fix my problem. He took a closer look at the windows inside and discovered the windows weren't properly installed (which other contractors missed). He explained that I had new construction windows installed rather than replacement windows. The issue was the wood trim that didn't allow for water to escape as I had a sill on sill situation. This makes sense as I had the windows painted the previous year and the painters caulked where water was previously escaping. I really appreciated he took his time to explain everything and that my fix was a simple one in the end. read more

A somewhat belated review, but just wanted to comment on the great work that they did. I had to replace two windows in my home office room. They promptly sent out a rep to take a look and recommended the type of window that I needed. I also checked out the window at their showroom and decided to use them to replace the two windows after getting a cheaper quote from another vendor, but that vendor did not bother to come out because I had to replace at least 4 windows before they would come out. Installation was very fast and professional. The crew (Numas and Jairo) was very careful in laying down coverings on all carpeted areas and even the desk and computers that are in my office. I am very satisfied with the workmanship and the quality of the window that was installed. We worked with Alexander Company to replace our windows using a Nail On installation. This installation method required them to have scaffolding and remove external trim. I would rate them as follows: Professionalism : 5/5 Communication and Responsiveness : 5/5 Workmanship : 5/5 Timeliness : 5/5 Jeff and team were quick to respond to questions and proactive to keep me informed about what work would be happening when (ie. scaffolding, replacement). Full disclosure: I have some time spent in the trades so I am a picky, OCD SOB when it comes to building repairs. This will be a lengthy post but a one liner doesn't do the work justice. Windows are serious business as far as I'm concerned. TL;DR: Alexander Co. Did a FANTASTIC job! From start to finish. Plus the stucco guy's work was superb and I could not be happier! I can sit in my garage while it's pouring buckets and not worry about water coming up through the cold joint anymore. That said, this was by far, the most responsive team and comprehensive installation of windows (both retro-fit and new construction) I've seen from a company in the Bay Area. And I have dealt with a few of them. We had been gearing up for the replacement of the windows in our home for the last 4 years. Windows are not cheap and you want to be sure the company performing the work stands behind their installation and are knowledgeable about the products and process. These guys/gals fit the bill perfectly in this sense. Fast forward, we sign up Alexander Co to replace 7+ windows and a VERY large (18' x 8') section of stucco on back of the garage repaired as well. I was really concerned about the stucco as the work itself was just as expensive as a couple of windows. John claimed I would be very happy with the work; his guy is "the Guy". Well then, by all means... Day 1: Armando and his crew showed up; they started breaking out the wall in the garage. Unfortunately for them, it was raining... HARD but these guys never broke a sweat and basically busted ass in the rain. Windy AF and they were just 'doing it live!'. By EOD they had the sheeting up and covered in heavy plastic to deal with the inclement weather overnight. During this work, we also had to hash out an addition to the stucco work wrapping around the corner since the underlying paper was trash. But Roy and I worked out the pricing on the fly and kept things moving. Day 2: Armando and a couple of the crew continued work on the sheeting in back and the others started on the rest of the windows. A knock on the door presented one of the guys holding a roll of high poly plastic. 15 minutes later my entire house is covered in it. Floors. Desks and beds... the dog. Everything. Everything was done to ensure that any debris was handled inside the home. A huge plus in my book. Having also realized that I needed to ensure that hammering around the walls of my recently renovated bathroom was kept to a minimum; just to be safe, I asked Armando to take precautions there too. Instead of using brute force to knock out the surrounding stucco; he first scored things with a rip saw and then used an impact chisel to open things up. Armando put together a really nice box for PG&E as well. Inspection passed and they finished in record time. Day 3: The stucco was a big sticking point for me as well considering we had a huge swath of the rear of the house being replaced. I had another company (AHR) do some work for us installing a slider and one window previously and not only did they 1) Use a fast cure product which cracked beyond belief as it dried but 2) Did nothing to address my concerns about said cracks. Basically told me over the phone to find stucco patch and fill it myself, cracks are expected. Grrr... Anyway, Alexander's guy (can not remember his name sadly), came out and knocked out the scratch coat on the first visit and then was back the next day to finish. A couple days later I noticed a few cracks showing and one call to John and his guy was back out and fixed everything. No questions asked! And no cracks since! Stellar job by this team. We have previously used Alexander Company and while they are not the cheapest they at least delivered and completed satisfactory installation of windows. We went with them again this time for additional new window installation and french doors and it has been a horrible experience. The french doors either have a manufacturer defect or were faultily measured by Alexander so that when they installed the doors do not fully shut nor lock. The Alexander office staff told me first that there is only one person in the company that can schedule or have any technician sent out and she was on vacation so we would have to wait until the following week - ok? So another week goes by, their technician comes out and determines that a new panel or whole door unit will need to be replaced by Milgard. Alexander then completely disappears and absolves themselves of rectifying the defective door that was installed, and I have subsequently had to spend hours on the phone waiting and talking with Milgard as if this is a warranty issue (spoiler alert, its not: its a defective product). Separately Milgard has 1) limited resources, and 2) low to no motivation to help resolve the issue, so long story short we are without a functioning/closing/locking door for 2+ months. Summary: DON'T go with Alexander Co and don't go with Milgard if you want to work with companies that take any kind of ownership for their work and products. read more

Given the lifetime warranty, I've recently attempted to reach out to Alexander Company to assess my windows for repair. The 2 people I've spoken to refuse to offer any sort of meaningful assistance, insisting that they have no records of doing work for us when I have sent them evidence to the contrary. All this to say, don't count on the lifetime warranty. read more

I would give 5 stars but for the delay from june to September to get the job done. I'm aware it could have been due to covid labor shortage and manufacturing delays. Once here though? The installers took two days. They were efficient, clean, meticulous and layed down paper to protect the hardwood floors. We ordered 6 windows and a sliding door, simonton vinyl beige. I was surprised how seamless the inside looked and happy about how the outside didn't have that wide ugly trim that is telltale of vinyl replacement. Bravo! read more
