In the past I have seen many a western doctor that doesn't understand traditional Chinese medicine so they ask me not to partake in it. But I grew up on traditional Chinese medicine and it can cure a lot of things that western medicine has said they can't. For example, I had gallstones once and usually that means surgery but I took some herbs from a licensed TCM doctor and they were gone in a week!
