Doctor Ford you have big problem how to communicate with your patient, no need to be rude and suspicious about people asking for specific medication, my chronic constipation was due to celiac disease as you only recommended to me was only lack of fibre ,a simple blood test revealed my gluten problems , doctor you believe only on numbers but you don't have any sense of investigation and to listen to your patients concerns . I still upset how you terminated the last visit with you..you left waiting and you switch to another patient...this really rude for such educated person. Poor communication. My emails through the cedars app go unanswered. I don't have this problem with the half dozen of my other doctors. I have also had a difficult time communicating during my visits. On a positive note, I will say he does take the time to read and understand my history or past charts. I can see that he also has to work under the guidelines of my insurance. However this has nothing to do with my issues. I hope he reads this and can make the changes he needs to do. I don't think it's asking a lot. read more

Dr. Ford is by far one of the rudest doctors I've ever witnessed in Los Angeles. Absolutely terrible bedside manner. Honestly can't believe Cedar-Sinai isn't doing anything about this. Not only has he been rude during multiple doctors visits, he is even worse over the phone. If you're into judgmental doctors with terrible bedside manner, Dr. Ford is for you. Dr. Ford's medical offices are very deserving of my five star rating. There was plenty of street parking, his medical office was very clean and tidy. His front desk receptionist were very helpful in explaining questions that I had about specific health forms that I needed to complete. I was able to see Dr. Ford within 15 minutes of completing all my forms, which really impressed me. My overall experience with Dr. Ford was a positive one, he was very direct in his communication with me and asked me what specific concerns had brought me into visit him today and he submitted a referral request to see two specialists. I also liked that his medical office is very Internet savvy and they offer a patient user ID and password so that you can access your medical information and view your test results online. I will be going back to see him sometime next week and I look forward to my doctors visit, and I know that's a very rare thing to say but it's 100% true. If you're looking for a great primary care physician I would highly highly recommend Dr. Alexander Ford to you. read more

I am not usually someone who writes Yelp reviews, but reading some of the criticism here had me dumbfounded. In the nicest possible way: I'm not sure some of these reviews understand the role of a doctor. Dr. Ford is a kind, thoughtful, smart doctor. He listens and uses his skills to help you. Most impressively, Dr. Ford is reachable. My father had a life threatening episode that I called Dr. Ford about (my father also sees Dr. Ford). Within 20 minutes he called me back and told me exactly what to do. In a very real way, that phone call helped save my dad's life. Doctor's calling patients on a weekend isn't really a thing you will find elsewhere. Another time I was traveling for work and developed hives all over my body. I was able to reach Dr. Ford that day and figure out what I could do to lessen my symptoms until I could see him. I also appreciate that Dr. Ford is not the doctor who is just going to prescribe you Xanax because you are "stressed." But he also won't diminish someone who has anxiety problems. If you want a doctor who is smart, thoughtful, reachable, and no bs - go to him. I didn't want someone who was just going to shove pills at me after a minute appointment. I have to say I picked him out of random from my insurance book, but he is a great Dr. The staff is on point and if your appointment is at 1pm you will be sure to walk into his office exactly at 1pm with Dr. Ford shortly after knocking on the door to come in. He is not a Dr. to quickly write you a prescription for antibiotics, but he will make sure you really need it which is almost never. The atmosphere of the office is bleak and depressing. The floors are grimy and the walls are stained and sorely in need of a paint job. You notice these things because of the considerable wait in the examining room to see the doctor. I have seen better environments in free clinics. I know there may be some Dr.'s that are more open to "alternative medicines" like marijuana, but it's not surprising to find Dr.'s that do not recommend it. Also, the Dr. seemed to really be careful about prescribing controlled medications, but is that really so bad? He didn't seemed completely opposed to prescribing controlled medications, he just wanted to be sure before he did. Avoid this place. I was assigned his offices due to insurance, and I wish I could give it negative stars. His nurses are nice, did everything right, this isn't about them. 1. You can hear everything. The Dr repeatedly was yelling at his staff, and you can hear in the next rooms. 2. Onto my visit, for backstory, I'm a former athlete with muscle damage in my leg. So therefore I have issues working out due to pain & I was there to discuss seeing a physical therapist or options to help. His comments: -there's no way I was an athlete due to my size - (having my trainers recommend I get it looked at) bring them in and show me their medical degrees, because I'm the dr and they're not -him refusing to even look at my leg and insisting I'm faking. -him giving me this whole "I'm the dr talk" yet not knowing what the word adhesion means - and the worst, "stop lying about an injury, Just stop with the COOKIES AND CAKES" Yes, I've gained some weight because I have intense pain working out but calling me a liar, refusing to even look at my leg and making repeated jabs about my weight! I was able to keep it together until he left before I started crying. I've never been so insulted. Anytime I've called looking for a reference, leg related or not, the nurses say they'll get back to me, but I've been denied every time. Having their office for medical needs is a waste of time. Warning: The walls in Dr. Ford's examination rooms are very thin. While I was waiting in one of the examination rooms, which had windows facing outside, I could hear literally every word of the conversation between Dr. Ford and another patient in the neighboring room. This included highly private and potentially embarrassing details (use your imagination). I mentioned it to the staff nurse but she simply shrugged and said "yeah, we know". The issue could be easily resolved with some additional insulation in the walls or pumping in soft music through overhead speakers. I went in for a checkup, it was rushed, I barely got through the main questions before the doctor said he'll be back in a little bit, he took 20 minutes! He was with another patient, I could hear him in the next room. When he came back, I had to start all over again. Dr. Ford is a fantastic primary physician. It had been a long long time since I have seen a primary doctor and I am a physician myself. I went into the office, got an EKG, blood work, urine sample, and physical exam in less than 45 minutes! Everything is complete and located within the office so you don't have to go to any other center to get the tests. He sends you a letter going over everything you talked about and is very complete. He speaks in a language that you can understand. His staff is extremely kind and thoughtful. He is also privileged at Cedars Sinai just in case you need it. read more

He seems like a referral doctor. He diagnosis and refers you to a specialist. But his specialists were good ones and not so good ones. You better research them before you visit. Doctors spend approximately 15 minuets for each patient. You better to know it and make a draft in a piece of paper what is your problem before you see him. Even I say to him my problem, he does not listen or too busy (?) and he goes his way. He needs more patient and listen to us. If your problem is too complicated, he refers. You have to tell him until he gets it. What I do not like is when someone calls him, he goes out to answer the phone even during checking time. I feel who is important? Dr ford is an excellent physician. He's nice courteous and makes you feel welcome. I don't have to wait long to see Dr. ford. I am usually in a room within minutes of my appointment time. If it's your first time I would arrive 30 minutes early to fill out the paper work. Lab work is done within the office and the phlebotomist has a lite expert hand. I am a hard stick and she found my veins easily. I love that I can log into mycslink and view my labs as soon as they come in. Which is fairly quickly. You can also message Dr. Ford, view upcoming appointment, see your medical history etc. His staff is amazing they are friendly, hard working and competent. Especially Evette she is amazing every time I have had a problem with a referral she comes to the rescue. When you call to make an appointment or ask about anything they answer immediately and if you have to be on hold it is a short hold. Appointments are readily available which is important for me. Also if you are not feeling well you can walk in and see the doctor or they will make a same day appointment. The only thing I dislike is the street parking seems to be full every time I have visited the office. There is a garage for the building but no validation. That's not a deal breaker most offices do not validate. I'd rather pay $8-$10 in parking than a parking ticket. read more
