Customer Service 2nd to none. What a shock. Normally I go to a different True Value or ACE but Alexander True Value is my store from now on. Larry the Locksmith did it for me. Just dropped in for some sandpaper and Larry treated me like a king. He directed me to my need and showed me some choices helping me to make a decision. Larry understands customer service and I give him a 5 star. He has earned my business for the future. The store was clean and everyone was attentive. To the owner, you have something special going on. For what it is worth I am only 3 miles away and never knew you were there but I will spread the word because it is so rare to receive the "Old Time Service" like Larry provides. I need cabinet knobs so I can child proof my kitchen. What a fun reality to live in. I didn't know that hardware stores have knobs? But I guess I'm exploring a part of adulthood that isn't so fun or obvious to my sluggish mom brain. I think I found the perfect knob (it's been taking me a long time) and I couldn't have done it without the insanely courteous staff. I was welcomed by two gentleman who walked me to where I needed to be to find what I was looking for. There were a few items in my way (I had a stroller with me). I was going to squeeze through but they got a team of guys to move everything around so the aisle would be bigger for me. 0_o!!!! Thank you!!! I also found some organizational bins that were under $7 and were a STEAL. There are some really great things here too like child safety products, gardening supplies, tools, hoses, christmas decor... etc. It's so easy to shop online or go to Target because it's almost second nature at this point. But we need to give local businesses like True Value Hardware a shot because they offer so much more. P.S This place has also educated me to refurbish patio furniture and helped me find the paint at the price point I wanted to stay under. I also bought soil for gardening here, and without asking they had someone help load everything in my car. I read the one review here that deliberately trashed a perfectly hard working business, and I just have to say this. Amazon is great, I use Amazon a lot. But there will come a time when Amazon will be our only seller because it forced other local businesses to close their doors permanently. When that happens, Amazon can charge you more because it'll be our only choice because that's how monopolies start their empires. So I disagree. Give this place a shot. You'll see what I'm talking about once you walk through their doors. read more

Seems strange to me that there are no critiques of this place, so allow me :) So the shelf item was $2.99 but their website says $1.99. Is this an unlisted sale? Is this a price issue? The lady says the $1.99 is their online price, and if i wanted it for that price I would have to order online, she then says the item will be in on Thursday (this is Monday), the item was in stock and in my hand, why in the world would I order it while standing in this store with the item i want IN MY HAND??? Then with the expectation of having to come back in 3 days...are you serious? These foolish sotres wonder why they lose business to things like Amazon, I could have had it on Wednesday and likely cheaper if i wanted to order it online, and guess what Alexander True Value, I wouldn't have had to drive out a 2nd time to pick it up. The carbon footprint that would have been used to save a buck when an item was on hand, is really ridiculous, foolish and really irresponsible on a corporate level. To be honest this isnt the first time something foolish like this detracted me from making the purchase at this store. During another visit recently I had their sales ad with some weed killer on sale, which also had a dollar off coupon, well they wouldn't combine the coupon with a sale price and they wouldn't give me the sale price unless I signed up for their buddy club or whatever they call it...listen, I just wanted some weed killer, I am not interested in jumping through hoops and dancing around like a circus monkey for a treat. In both cases I went next door to another store (Ollie's) and made my purchases without the dance for a treat act! What I would say to the store management, how about stop thinking this is 1975 and get with the times for goodness sake and realize your business model is outdated. Im done giving this store any more chances, there are simple too many options to waste time playing games! read more

This is a great store and all the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. This store is extremely clean and the staff is very friendly. I go here for almost every hardware item if I can. It is also a great place to buy paint. No line like Home Depot and I love Benjamin Moore paint! I have no idea how anyone could complain about this store. My experiences at this store are best described as: what every handy dad wishes for his (very obviously) clueless daughter to experience at a hardware store! They always have exactly what I'm looking for and you can't beat the service. Having just bought my first house, I have walked into this store with very vague descriptions of what I am looking for (I.e. I went in to find a new pair of gardening gloves. I didn't find a pair that worked for me, BUT I found bird seed, an organizer, mole repellent, a toilet seat, and a bathroom faucet.
