    Dessert - whisky apple cake
    Jeff L.

The reviews here seem quite outdated so providing my views from our recent positive experience (which seems in line with reviews we found on other sites). The Alexandra is correctly advertised as a fine dining experience. It was a leisurely (2 hour) dinner in a lovely setting. Our party tried the Halibut, Pasta, and short ribs - all of which were delicious. We also had 2 cocktails, which seemed overpriced ($16 each) although they both got high marks for presentation and taste - but you're definitely paying for the presentation since they weren't innovative in their ingredients. A highlight was the dessert, including the whisky apple cake that was presented to look like an apple! If looking for a nice dinner on your tropical vacation, the Alexandra is a good choice.

I don't understand the prior reviews because since we entered the restaurant it was nothing but great service and good food. I had the lobster stuffed portobello mushroom and it was fresh and delicious. My husband had the lump crab cake and these were also very fresh and tasty. For the main entree I had the shrimp in asparagus sauce and white bean mamposteao rice and it was simply perfect. Well seasoned and with tasty chunks of chorizo and maduros. My husband enjoyed his generously sized and perfectly cooked ribeye steak and his side dish of calamari risotto. Service was very attentive, fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic evening as the ocean view is breathtaking. Great place and would definitely recommend and revisit!

The pastelillos are AMAZING! I've been trying to find a good lobster pastellio allll over the island and THIS place had the best! It was fresh, lobster was tasty, and the dough was crispy and delicious. Also LOVED the arroz con gandules. You can tell the sofrito they cook with is banging! We also had the crab and chicken pastelillos. Which were good. Their piña coladas are strong but tasty. The ambiance is chill with open air dining and eclectic seating. Definitely NOT a fancy place. Rustic and quaint with great music. Traditional Puertorican love music playing while the breeze hits from the ocean feet away from us was everything. Not sure what other people were talking about them not having bathrooms or people being rude. We used the bathroom there (fine, again NOT fancy) and the woman who served us was so sweet and friendly. Wondering how many negative reviews are from those hoping to drive them out and buy their land since they're surrounded by big money homes...just saying. I wish we were more hungry because I'd love to try more food. Til next time! There WILL be a next time :)

The octopus was tender and nicely cooked. It's a homemade, hearty meal so it's healthy and sits really pleasant in the stomach. Remember this is not a fancy restaurant but it definitely hits the spot after a day at the beach in Guilligans Island. I would have to agree with the rest of the reviews, the staff is a bit on the rude side when it comes to serving at the cafetín and providing ferry service.

When the Churrasco Mofongo ($27.99) finally came out, the portion size was surprisingly small and did not reflect the price at all. For nearly $28, I expected a much more substantial serving and better overall value. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I also ordered four pastelitos at $2.99 each, and those ended up providing more food and better value than the $27.99 Churrasco Mofongo. It's hard to justify paying nearly $28 for an entrée when a few appetizers totaling less than half the price leave you feeling like you received more for your money. To make matters worse, the staff was largely inattentive throughout the visit. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, there were no updates regarding the long wait, and customer service felt like an afterthought, only because the question "Can I have an update on my order" was asked to the staff. A 44-minute wait can be understandable during busy times, but keeping customers informed goes a long way, especially when multiple families sat, ate, and left before receiving the order. Overall, despite the churrasco mofongo tasting really good, between the excessive wait time, the lack of attentiveness from staff, and the disappointing portion size, I left feeling that the meal was not worth the price. I hope management takes a closer look at both the service and the value being provided to customers.

A minute or two later a woman came out and started naming what was on the menu (they had a wall menu in English, but we're out of some items). It turns out she was the waitress/chef. In broken Spanish, I told the woman I had a gluten allergy so we remained what I could eat that didn't have gluten. I was intrigued by her mention of octopus given that we were so close to the sea. The waitress/chef brought out a sample of ceviche octopus. It was so yummy!! The octopus wasn't rubbery at all. It had a good meaty bit and tasted like the sea. We both decided to have the octopus two ways. My husband had it as a ceviche w/ tostones and I had my octopus in a red sauce over mofongo. It was comfort food! The mofongo was hearty and tasted homemade. We also met an English speaking gentleman who was at the restaurant (role unknown) who gave us tips re: nearby beaches. The restaurant has a parking lot and a great view of the water. It was nice to have so much attention with wonderful home cooked food. If you are in the area after a long day at the beach I would recommend this little find.
