While he admittedly did a good…read morejob with the color technique, he completely missed a section in the back of my hair and did a weird chunk of color that looks out of place (picture included). The problem is, he travels between Spokane & LA (where he now lives). He was supposed to fix it the next time he was in town, a month later, but cancelled the day of. Now I am left with this terrible hair, and will have to go somewhere else to have it fixed. He never once apologized or even seemed to feel bad. I paid over $300 for my cut/color. This unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Also, both separate occasions I had my hair washed in the bowls, my back got soaked. Everyone agreed it was because the bowls sucked. Well, having a wet back also sucked, so maybe they should invest in new bowls.

Long review: started out good but quickly turned bad and unprofessional. Chris, a male hair…read morestylist, talked my ear off during a cut and highlight that lasted 1 h 45 minutes. I thought he did a great job. I came in for a trim at 8 weeks and then another trim plus highlights 8 weeks after that. Both of these appointments were very rushed, Chris was quiet (which I was fine with) and I walked out thinking he must have been in a quiet mood. He never asked me if my hair cut was what I wanted or checked in with me during my appointments, but I complimented him on his efficiency and tipped him 20% every time I saw him. After a few days (less than a week) after the cut and highlight, I saw that he barely gave me a haircut (no layers; I have very fine, thin hair) and the highlights were not done well (big chunk of brown roots on back of head). I texted and asked if I could come in to fix the issues. He said, of course. He was very pissy and quiet at this appointment; he added more toner and then trimmed again after I showed him a few pictures. When I asked him about balayage he snapped, "If you want that you're going to have to go to someone else because I'm not good at that." I tipped him $20 and he told me I should buy two products, a shampoo for icy blonds and moroccan oil; I bought them and left. Again, after a few days my hair looked the same, no style, too long everywhere and uneven bottom and an abrupt A-ish line in the back. I texted him October 3rd to cancel my last scheduled haircut which was for October 11th. He replied: That's okay. To be honest, you made me very uncomfortable when you were in my chair. I don't think we're a good fit. I've NEVER had a hairdresser be this moody, inconsistent and unprofessional in Spokane or anywhere else. I'd avoid Chris at Wink Salon if you don't want any drama or bad haircuts.

When I first got the card, I tried to schedule always fully booked or they are not taking any new client. Then I just forgot about it. I got it, I shouldn't have waited for so long. Apparently there was an owner change, my hair stylist can't swipe the gift card. So I paid my stylist separately while working with the owner to see what can be done. I shared with the owner, I'm not asking for a refund, just looking to see if there is something can be done so both of us can be happy. First, she denied it was from the store even it has same name and same address. Then she asked me for a proof of purchase and told me how would she know if I didn't get it from trash can... if I got it from trash can, I wouldn't pay for the stylist in the first place. Or maybe she is referring to her business is trash, only accept card from trash can. Too bad mine wasn't, dang it!

Many years ago, at a convention, Jose' Ebar, Palm Desert, cut and styled my hair and although it was done well ($400 in the 90's), the other attendees and I left his studio with a similar cut, style and color. Not so with Sandy! I recently had lunch with 4 friends whose hair each looked striking and which enhanced our own characteristics. It's truly a gift and Sandy has it. Another, less mentioned but not less important quality is that she is trustworthy and encouraging, remembering details and asking about other aspects of your life, then often offering ideas that improve the quality of it. Sandy is a gem and although challenging to get in with initially, once she gets to know you, she pre books for future appts, as many as 3 ahead to keep you on a schedule. The location, between Maple and Ash on Gardner, makes it a snap to get downtown or back up to the South Hill. I have gone to her for 5 yrs. and knowing her has definitely increased the quality of my life. She is worth the wait to get an appointment. Surprisingly for someone of her ability, she is also reasonably priced. If you call and don't get in right away, keep calling, it's worth the effort and wait.
