Let's start with the good. Decent prices, and decent food. Typical diner style breakfast foods. We went on a Sunday morning. Street parking is free on Sundays. I got 1 egg, home fries, bacon, and wheat toast. My kids order chocolate chips pancakes. My dad who dined with us ordered an omelette. My egg was cooked just how I liked it. I enjoyed the home fries and their bacon. They forgot to give me my toast, but I was able to have a slice from my dad's and it was decent and buttered. The kids pancakes were not the fluffiest but it did have a lot of chocolate chips. Now to my not so great service. Customer service weighs a lot when I do reviews. This was my first time coming here, and I was meeting my brother who has been here before and recommended it. My kids, dad, and I arrived first. It's a small place so when you walk in you can see who has come in the door. We stood there for a good minute while everyone stared but did not say a word to us. There was no sign to tell us to seat ourselves. Finally a waitress told us to sit anywhere. We sat there and waited while no one came to our table to greet us and give us menus. My brother finally arrives with his family and they sit at the table next to ours. A waitress quickly goes to them while they were still sitting down and greets them and gives them menus. I noticed this and while not happy about this I stayed to enjoy time with my family. My brother said we were together and the waitress looks at us and only then did she acknowledge us and gave us menus and told us we could put the tables together. I tried to give them the benefit of maybe they are busy, shorted staff. They only seemed to have 3 waitresses with 1 being trained and shadowing. But again I take customer service seriously when I visit an establishment especially if I am going to be there for some time. What made me realize it is not just an excuse of being short staffed is when a man walked in with his kid. Just like me he stood there and waited. No one greeted him or acknowledged him, but they did see him. I witnessed one guy in particular cleaned off a table, go back to grab menus, walked right passed this man and his kid with no acknowledgment and give menus to the people behind him. After that the man walked out. Again there should be no excuse for not even acknowledging people who are trying to dine with you. The establishment is very small. A simple "good morning," "have a seat " or a "be right with you" is not much to ask for. I did not feel welcomed when I came in and seeing how they didn't even acknowledge that man made me even more uncomfortable being there. read more

Came here the Sunday of lelaf. We are alumni and just needed food before hitting the road. We got here and sat at the bar. The prices are fantastic and so is service. Food just took super long to come out. Maybe 30-40 minutes. Kind of frustrating. But everything came out and was fine. Very bare bones place no frills. Your regular classic diner food. We both got French toast, 4 eggs, chicken sausage and w bunch of toast with coffees for like $19. Can't beat that. Is it the best place? Maybe not.... But we'd come back. I found this cute little bistro near my parking garage when I visited Bethlehem for Christkindlmarkt. The bistro is small but clean and the server was polite and friendly. There are plenty of breakfast options and bistro favorites. I chose one of the favorites and ordered a broccoli, cheddar and tomato omelet. It was served with home fries and toast. The portions were filling and the price inexpensive. Definitely a win in my book. read more

LONGEST WAIT EVER. Avoid this place if you are hungry. It sadness me to write this review BUT.. we tried this place out recently 9/17/22 we arrived before 11 and sadly walked out before 12. After sitting down and mentioning to the server that we were ready to order. We placed our order right away and proceeded to wait 50 for our food to arrive. I'm still waiting for the cup of Hot water i asked for. Our server came back to the table after 35 minutes to tell us that our order was delayed because of a takeout order. And 5 minutes after, a table that was seated 20 minutes after we sat down received their entire order. Considering their party was sat after our and was more people, i have reason to believe that our server didn't place our order and it was only for 2 people. This is a shame and disappointment. We have always been regulars. Our order is always simple and easy to make and never takes more than 15 minutes. Please don't waste your time and money here. The food isn't that great and they have gone downhill since recently. Save yourself the hassle and go to Perkins or another breakfast spot cause this place will waste your time and won't take the effort to earn your patronage. read more

Regardless of what technically tittle this place is known - Blue Anchor or, the later Alexandra's Bistro...same ownership, same moderately-price deliciousness. This place caters excellently to their customers - no frills, plentiful diner eats at pace that reminder your of a typical, Sunday-Funday pace. Ample coffee, waffle-house server attitude...just marvelous. Any of the omelette orders or the monte cristo (check the specials board) will satisfy the most discerning customers. However this establishment is branded, it's been goddamn consistent and goddamn tasty each return trip back. While not on caliber with the Goose or Tulum on 'most-hit-on-return-trips', the Bistro is always a solid breakfast/brunch choice, particularly well-situated for those Sunday-heading-back breakfast-brunch scenarios. read more

Terrible service, slow, disengaged and disorganize. at the register I was given a dollar figure only. Asked to see the bill and after a look of surprise, was handed someone else's check. On the second try I was given my check, but items that were included were added on as extras. Now two people are involved struggling to get the overcharge refunded through the card system. When all that ended I asked for a receipt. That was fun! I was informed that I had to request a receipt BEFORE. Before what? The first wrong check or the overcharge? The person two got mouthy. This place serves your average diner classics- breakfast combinations like eggs, meat, and toast; pancakes; omelettes; and so on so forth. The food was prepared by two chefs--an older couple--and tasted just like grandma's cooking. This diner imparts Greek influences in some of their dishes, like the gyro omelette I tried. The flavors within the omelette (gyro meat, spinach, and feta) were well balanced and I loved topping off my wheat toast with it and eating it as one bite. The home fries were a bit disappointing because it was quite mushy and I prefer my home fries to be a bit crispy. I was also bothered by the lack of sanitary concern displayed by the waitresses, who are in charge of placing the toast on everyone's plates. I witnessed them handling the toast with bare hands after handling money far too many times. Please have a pair of tongs out there and utilize those instead of using your unwashed hands. read more

Alexandra's never disappoints. No fuss diner with the sweetest staff, it's a Bethlehem breakfast go-to. I get their sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. Absolutely delicious every time. Best breakfast sausage I've ever encountered, it's juicy and tasty. The sandwich is large and comes with a heaping of homefries yet is inexpensive. Can't ask for much more, love this place and the staff! Wish they had a space for outdoor seating during this time, and the staff said they wish they did too, but I recommend taking it to-go and eating in Farrington square! read more

4 of my friends and I walked in at around 1pm. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. We sat in a booth for 40 minutes and a waitress came around to take our order for both beverages and food at approximately 1:40. There was no outstanding wait from keeping employees to attending our table and there were numerous booths open. Several tables around us that had the same number of people in their party and were seated after of us got their food and beverages before us. Service is absolutely abysmal. When we sat down they did not even give us napkins with our silverware! It is 2:15 and we still don't have the 5 waters we ordered. No tip lol and never coming back. read more

Reliably good diner breakfast. About what you'd expect for a dinner, but a bit small on the inside. The waitstaff is very friendly, and it's easy to get to know them pretty quickly since it's such a small place. Definitely a favorite place of mine to go when I'm looking for a good breakfast at a VERY affordable price! (I was once able to get two eggs, toast, home fries and a muffin for about $4. I think it may have gone up to about $6 now, but still very affordable.) The only downside to this place, I would say, is their hours. I believe it's only open until about 7pm. Oh, and it's probably good to know ahead of time that while they do take cards, you can't put your tip on the card, so have SOME cash available. read more

This bustling South Side restaurant serves up fast, delicious wholesome breakfasts at a very inexpensive price. Gotta love that! The Greek owner is very funny and sociable. The waitresses are quick, laid-back with a touch of spunk. The crowd is a vibrant mix of young and old. Obviously, it attracts a large Lehigh population as well but that's fine. We all gotta eat, right? The restaurant isn't huge so lines can form rather easily, I imagine. We sat at the counter which I think are the best. Why wait in a long line for a table/booth when you can get service almost immediately at the usually empty counters? In short, a great place for a (usually) quick breakfast at a cheap price in a great atmosphere. Now go eat. read more

Formerly known as The Blue Anchor, this Southside staple suffered a fire in 2006 or 07 (can't remember - whatever) and refurbished, revamped, and renamed itself Alexandra's Bistro. It's still an inexpensive diner with counters, booths and tables, great waitresses and good breakfast and lunch foods. I upgraded my 3-star to a 4-star after lunch today. Chicken gyro with homemade tzatziki sauce - really good! My biggest joy is that the owners were able to salvage the original hand painted wall murals of Greek gods. There used to be a sign on them that said "no photographs allowed of murals" or something but I didn't see the signs post-re-opening. They really are special. Plus you get a lolly when you pay your check. read more

Good Greek diner, but pretty regular. Pros: Good breakfast food, decent gyros. Comfortable atmosphere. Cons: Like any place, food can be hit and miss. Should be a 24-hour diner - they'd make a mint if they were. I recently had an excellent Bistro Omelet here - with spinach, feta cheese, and gyro meat. Really delicious and really filling, if just a tad expensive at around $6.50. But I thought it was totally worth it. I've had a gyro wrap here before as well as fish-and-chips. Neither were as good as the Bistro Omelet, but they were solid choices nevertheless. But on my latest trip, I had a California cheeseburger with coleslaw as a side. The burger was pretty bad - the meat was overcooked, the bread fell apart, and it was overall unsatisfactory. The coleslaw was on the sour side. On the plus side, it all filled me up reasonably enough for less than $5. So know what to get, I guess. I'd absolutely recommend the Bistro Omelet. read more

Oh, I love this place! It's your standard diner fare, so don't expect anything fancy, but it's very reliable and definitely affordable, speaking from a broke college student perspective. My friends and I come here all the time. The waitresses are very, very sweet and always remember us and stop to have a chat. The breakfast food is especially reccommended, and it's available all day. The reason I only give it four stars is because the hours of operation could be better: they close pretty early, especially on Sundays & in the summer when most of the college kids aren't around, and I've tried to come here only to find it closed. I'd love it if it were a 24-hour diner but I don't think they have the staffing to pull it off, unfortunately. Still, I'd reccommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap, quick meal. read more

Absolutely wonderful diner located in Southside Bethlehem. More of your hidden "hole in the wall" diner than a traditional diner. Food is very reminiscent of my hometown diner that closed down. You get a quality and quantity of food that is well worth the price. Prices are very reasonable with a single person spending under 10 dollars for a full sized breakfast. I had eggs, scrapple, homefries, pancakes, corn beef hash, coffee and toast and my bill was just under 12 dollars, which isn't a typical breakfast for most. The staff and owner are extremely friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be patronizing this diner frequently and will be recommending it to anyone who asks. read more

This place is an adorable little diner with a cute interior decorated with Greek mythology. Came here two days in a row for brunch/breakfast. Both times my group of 4 and then 2 were able to find seats quickly. The service is definitely great and our hostess, which was the same lady both days, was incredibly friendly and nice. She helped us order because it was our first times and even made recommendations. Most importantly the price of food here is perfect. My boyfriend got a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with coffee and I got a veggie omelette with an iced coffee all for &10! My veggie omelette even came with toast and coffee. The food also does not disappoint. For the taste, service, and price this place is definitely a must try for any Lehigh student or Bethlehem resident. read more

Been here a numerous times now since my college days and it never gets old. The staff is friendly and the food is typical of what you get from a mix and match of an American Diner and a Greek restaurant. You can eat to your heart's fulfillment in less than 10 bucks which is awesome. Service can be slow especially on weekends when Lehigh is ongoing because it tends to get filled with college going crowd. Where else are students going to get a bang for their buck?!? I don't see how anyone could give this place 4 or 5 stars. It's a dump, the clientele is very very strange (except for the occasional Lehigh person) and the food is worse than average. About the only positive is it's pretty cheap and some of the servers seem ok. If you want below average food, at below average prices, with everything served with feta, and half the place speaking Spanish... then this place is for you! Maybe it was better as Blue Anchor or whatever it was before but now it's a waste of space. Would be nice if the South Side had at least one more decent breakfast place besides Blue Sky. read more

I used to go here all the time when it was the Blue Anchor. Until that place burned to a crisp in a fire. But the same menu and employees are back in a new iteration of the same restaurant! The breakfast is the best part of this little diner. Their breakfast potatoes are real potatoes and have just the right amount of crisp. I recommend the Alexandra's Special (eggs, meat, potatoes, and pancakes) or the Bistro Omelet. Can't go wrong eating here. Though I have had the odd overcooked burger once in a while. read more

Soooo. We go there on a Sunday for an early lunch. Hand us the menus and we attempt to order only to be told they only have THREE things on the entire menu available for lunch....waitress was very confusing in explaining what was available and the menu had no info to help. Waitress was obviously inpatient when we tried to order something that was on the menus but not one of the three out of over thirty options listed. Seriously? Then provide a different menu on Sundays. This is not rocket science. Will not be going back. read more
