Whitehall Diner, located on MacArthur Road, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Sunday until 8:00 PM. While waiting in Whitehall for my Jeep to be finished at the shop, I took the opportunity to stop in for lunch at my favorite diner. I started with the boneless BBQ wings, which came out hot, crispy, and perfectly sauced. Some of the best I've had in a long time. After the wings, I went for the Bing Bong chicken sandwich with French fries. The chicken was tossed in a spicy, sweet chili sauce and topped with lettuce and tomato. I wish the cutlet was a little thicker and crispier, but it was still a solid sandwich, and the fries were fresh. The service there was nice. The employees were kind but the desserts were gross. I got sick after eating a cheesecake. Their apple dumplings were not made right it was hard and it was just an apple with a cover over it. The rice puddings were really dry. The only thing good there was how sweet the people were and the ice cream and on top of that the one ice cream scoop that my stepdad ordered was like gooey and slimy. read more

We had the most amazing night at the Whitehall diner. My favorite dinner cranberry chicken is large enough to share and delicious cranberry chutney. But the best is their coconut custard pie! My grilled chicken pita was perfectly executed. I never imagined doing a post about the most perfect pierogies, but here we are. They were not overly hard like so many serve them & still easy to pick up and dip with some sour cream. Our server was super friendly and mentioned what great selections we had made. There was only 1 time where I waited longer than usual, the manager was very apologetic and even gave me and my husband desser dessert. I stopped in to pick up a slice of cheesecake for my girlfriend. To think with the cost, it would be a nice piece but I watched as the old man cutting it dropped a chunk off and just got rid of it. They make jams, baked goods, soups and salad dressings. Coffee was pretty good. Pumpkin pancakes were very good. Also tried blueberry pancakes. I thought they make pancakes from scratch because they make baked goods, but pancakes are from a box. Friend liked steak & eggs medium rare. Chorizo Breakfast was so good. We enjoyed vegetable soup and chicken & rice soup. Chicken & barley soup had good homemade taste.and homemade chilli was pretty rich. They also make french onion soup. Chicken Caesar salad was very good and they serve a hot roll with salad. Steamed broccoli was good. We also tried corn, french fries, onion rings, cole slaw, mac & cheese, Martin chips. We tried chicken breast with housemade crab. Brother's go-to is Cranberry Chicken meal. Friend said stuffed peppers with marinara sauce was sweet. Freshly broiled Haddock was good. Excellent food! Ate Bourbon glazed Salmon over rice. Perfectly cooked the last two times I ordered this. Literally melts in your mouth. My son had pancakes, excellent! I took a star off for two reasons, and it's happened in the past and happened today: 1. When they brought our food, they didn't have syrup for my sons pancakes, no big deal, but when I asked politely the person seemed annoyed and said, "I'll let your server know". I've worked in restaurants, I would have helped out my fellow woker and grabbed it. By the time our server came back with it, about five minutes went by. 2. Coffee refills, or lack there of. This is a crowd pleaser for people who like coffee and easy to do. Having someone walk around with a coffee pot is not hard . We were not offered until server came back toward end of our meal and asked us if we wanted more. Again, not the first time. A good, old fashioned diner that many of the locals count on as their "go-to" place when friends and family come in from out of town. Very good menu with plenty of just-right sized dishes. This is my favorite diner in the area unfortunately since Covid they're not open every day of the week anymore but that's fine I take advantage of the days that they are the food is great the service is awesome and the people are very very nice family oriented. My husband and I love this place! And guess what? Their staff are all wearing masks! So many of the restaurants aren't requiring it. Perkins Restaurants don't require it, I just called them. Hands down the worst diner experience I've ever had. It actually became a joke for my family and I as one bad experience after another kept occurring. So, six of us go out for an Easter lunch. The place was busy, but they had seating available immediately. Apparently, when they laid out the seating, they miscalculated, because out booth was right next to the entrance to the bathroom, so they pushed the booth together closer. Now I'm 6'3, so I'm used to accidentally stepping on the feet of the person across from me, but I measured the space of the seats across from each other... 15 inches. Even my 11 year old son was bumping knees across from my 5'3 mother. We aren't ones to complain, and they are busy, so we suck it up and we all sit slightly sideways. Our waiter arrives, and mumbles something... we all ask him what he says more than once, and he takes our drink order. 2 sodas, 1 coffee, 3 waters. Five minutes later, 3 coffees, 2 waters, and 2 sodas arrive. We correct him, he laughs, and takes two coffees away - never bringing the other water until our food comes (when we remind him). Looking over the menu, as a very flexible vegan, I find nothing I can eat other than french fries or a side salad. I figured they'd at least have a veggie burger as almost every diner has this. Nope. So I order a large salad with no meat or cheese. When our food arrives, he brings me a small side salad with 95% iceburg lettuce. He tells me how a large salad would cost me more, I explain how that would be fine, but he seems annoyed at being corrected for the second time. I sigh, and say, I'll just have this. The food - there was a long white hair on my son's pickle, my mother asked for gravy on the side - her food came smothered in it, and no one received any refills on drinks. Never saw the waiter again until the check arrived. After joking to my parents how diners are consistently "ok" for dining, usually a 3-4 star time, this was hands down and saying how this is the worst diner experience I've ever had, I excuse myself to the bathroom. After doing my business, I slip and have to catch myself on the sink so I don't completely fall and hit the floor. My family wonders why I walk out of the bathroom laughing and I tell them how the whole experience just got worse. The whole thing was a comedy of errors. So... the good news is, the best part about dining at the Whitehall Diner... there's a wawa across the street where for $4 I got a sandwich that satisfied and filled me. read more

The waiters were nice. The manager on the other hand was very rude when i told him about the HAIR in my burger. He handled it unprofessionally. First question he asked me is If I pulled the hair out?? The hair was obviously untouched since it was still there..like what?? He never even apologized for the hair in the food. He said "All i can do is offer you a dessert".. it was noon? So when he said "ALL I CAN DO" one would assume that they are still paying for the meal. After i deny the dessert he comes back and asks if ive been ever been to a restaurant before because I told the waitress I was unsure what I was and wasn't paying for. He was raising his voice at me (a minor) during this altercation which caused others to turn their head and look. I don't think he should be a manager if he responds to all his customers like this unless he only did it because he saw a minor without her parents around.
