I found this cute little bistro near my parking garage when I visited Bethlehem for Christkindlmarkt. The bistro is small but clean and the server was polite and friendly. There are plenty of breakfast options and bistro favorites. I chose one of the favorites and ordered a broccoli, cheddar and tomato omelet. It was served with home fries and toast. The portions were filling and the price inexpensive. Definitely a win in my book.

LONGEST WAIT EVER. Avoid this place if you are hungry. It sadness me to write this review BUT.. we tried this place out recently 9/17/22 we arrived before 11 and sadly walked out before 12. After sitting down and mentioning to the server that we were ready to order. We placed our order right away and proceeded to wait 50 for our food to arrive. I'm still waiting for the cup of Hot water i asked for. Our server came back to the table after 35 minutes to tell us that our order was delayed because of a takeout order. And 5 minutes after, a table that was seated 20 minutes after we sat down received their entire order. Considering their party was sat after our and was more people, i have reason to believe that our server didn't place our order and it was only for 2 people. This is a shame and disappointment. We have always been regulars. Our order is always simple and easy to make and never takes more than 15 minutes. Please don't waste your time and money here. The food isn't that great and they have gone downhill since recently. Save yourself the hassle and go to Perkins or another breakfast spot cause this place will waste your time and won't take the effort to earn your patronage.

Regardless of what technically tittle this place is known - Blue Anchor or, the later Alexandra's Bistro...same ownership, same moderately-price deliciousness. This place caters excellently to their customers - no frills, plentiful diner eats at pace that reminder your of a typical, Sunday-Funday pace. Ample coffee, waffle-house server attitude...just marvelous. Any of the omelette orders or the monte cristo (check the specials board) will satisfy the most discerning customers. However this establishment is branded, it's been goddamn consistent and goddamn tasty each return trip back. While not on caliber with the Goose or Tulum on 'most-hit-on-return-trips', the Bistro is always a solid breakfast/brunch choice, particularly well-situated for those Sunday-heading-back breakfast-brunch scenarios.

This place serves your average diner classics- breakfast combinations like eggs, meat, and toast; pancakes; omelettes; and so on so forth. The food was prepared by two chefs--an older couple--and tasted just like grandma's cooking. This diner imparts Greek influences in some of their dishes, like the gyro omelette I tried. The flavors within the omelette (gyro meat, spinach, and feta) were well balanced and I loved topping off my wheat toast with it and eating it as one bite. The home fries were a bit disappointing because it was quite mushy and I prefer my home fries to be a bit crispy. I was also bothered by the lack of sanitary concern displayed by the waitresses, who are in charge of placing the toast on everyone's plates. I witnessed them handling the toast with bare hands after handling money far too many times. Please have a pair of tongs out there and utilize those instead of using your unwashed hands.

It was a rainey day so I was hoping they weren't too busy. We lucked up with a Park Mobile space right in front of the restaurant! :) We were immediately greeted and taken to a table upon entrance. The spot is cozy and open and we were able to carry on a private conversation across the table from each other even with other diners close by. Our waitress was wonderful and I wish I could have remembered her name. She was engaging, informative and provided professional, friendly service. It was Summer restaurant week but we opted for à la carte and ordered from the appetizer and sandwich sections. I opted for the Blacked Chicken Quesadillas. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful and complicated all the other normal quesadilla ingredients. We shared the perfectly GBD fried cauliflower and opted for the buffalo sauce. Great choice. My niece chose the Roasted Turkey & Brie sans the bacon. She said they use real oven roasted turkey and not deli slices and enjoyed it immensely. We both took half our orders to go. I would definitely return when we are in town because I saw several other menu options I want to try.

I've been to this diner several times now and never had a bad experience. The food is unique and delicious and service is always fantastic. My most recent visit I ordered Huevos Rancheros. It consists of grilled corn tortillas topped with refried beans, chorizo sausage, and Monterey Jack & cheddar cheese. It's accompanied with over-medium eggs, smashed avocado, and classic papas. I could have did without the beans, but other than that this dish was a winner. My favorite item on the menu is still the Sriracha Bowl. The tortilla bowl is filled with classic papas, pork carnitas, scrambled eggs, bacon, diced tomatoes, Monterey Jack & cheddar cheese, guacamole, jalapeños, scallion, and sriracha. Coming from New Jersey, the diner capital of the world, Billy's surpassed our expectations. We visited on a busy Saturday during lunchtime and had to wait 15 minutes for a table. It was worth it. My wife ordered Yanna's omelette and I ordered the vegan pancakes topped with strawberries and bananas with a side of sausage. My wife loved her omelette. Lots of spinach and feta cheese. Huge portion of potatoes on the side. My vegan pancakes were made with Almond milk. You have the option of ordering how many pancakes you want to eat. Based upon advice from our waitress, she suggested two since they were big. Good choice. Of course, we had coffee to wash it all down. As coffee snobs, the coffee was very good. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices were very reasonable. Believe it not, this is the first diner I have been to that offered vegan pancakes. For people with dairy issues, this is a great thing. The restrooms were clean which probably tells you the kitchen is clean. There is plenty of parking in a public lot across the street and ample street parking.

I'd heard mixed reviews going in, but aside from the parking, there wasn't a single thing to complain about. I kicked things off with crispy chicken dumplings, perfectly fried and served with a sweet-and-salty soy yuzu sauce, along with rich, pillowy pumpkin gnocchi. For my entree, I went with the pasta of the day, fettuccine in a garlic-horseradish cream sauce with mushrooms, Swiss chard, and tender beef tips. My friend went with the savory short ribs, served alongside a golden Irish cheddar potato cake, roasted root vegetables, and crispy shallots. Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.
