I wish I could give zero stars but instead I need to share my experience so I can make sure the next person looking for a foot doctor in the area does NOT see Alexis Dixon. The moment I walked into Dr. Dixon's office, I was struck by the unwelcoming atmosphere and the sheer lack of professionalism. Dr. Dixon has the worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. She is not only dismissive but also outright rude. When I tried to explain my symptoms of a sprained ankle/foot, I was met with very little feedback and hardly any advice on next steps. It was clear that my concerns were not taken seriously. Dr. Dixon seemed more interested in cutting the appointment short than actually diagnosing or treating my issue. I left the office feeling frustrated and still in pain, with no real understanding of what was going on with my foot/ ankle. I had to call almost daily to get follow ups on insurance and MRI appointments. The Imagining center kept telling me Dr. Dixon's office was not responding to them in order to schedule me. It took me a MONTH to finally get an MRI. Alley at the front desk has zero clue what she is doing. They began to purposely not answer my calls. I have a big setback in my healing process because of this office. On top of it all, Dr. Dixon refused to give me MRI results over the phone while I was traveling for work and a wedding all while in serious pain. She gave me surface level results after I begged for some type of feedback or finding. I am in a walking boot and was also denied a handicap placard from her office. Instead I saw a new doctor and was given a temporary pass for 6 months and was handed the paperwork and placard within 24 hours with a full diagnosis of my foot and ankle. I regret ever stepping foot in Dr. Dixon's office and would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for compassionate and competent care. This doctor's lack of empathy and professionalism is unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble and find a provider who will actually listen and treat you with the respect you deserve. I wish I had read the other reviews before I wasted my time at with Dr Alexis Dixon. Here are a few points so you make your appointment informed: 1) LONG WAIT TIME-- 45 minute wait. 2) ICEY BEDSIDE MANNER, if all else went well I could have looked beyond this. She was abruptly dismissive when I mentioned pain medication, she cut me off mid sentence saying to "call my other doctor" for that. I was only was asking as I wanted info on topicals since I dont like to take pills! Maybe she thought I wanted opioids??? not sure why she reacted that way...kinda baffling? 3) CANT GET A CALL BACK WHEN LEAVING MULTIPLE MESSAGES: After leaving multiple messages neither she, nor her office called me back. It was ONLY after I dug up their email address and finally heard back via email. 4) WOULD NOT GIVE ME MRI RESULTS ON PHONE. I WAITED WEEKS TO BE TOLD I NEEDED AN APPT TO GET RESULTS. THAT IT WOULD BE ANOTHER $250. CANT MAKE IT IN PERSON DUE TO WORK TRAVEL, TELE VISIT...THEY WANTED THAT $250. NO MATTER WHAT. Any other doctor would have called me with results within 48 maybe 72 hrs at worst. Many doctors actually follow-up with a phone call checking in with the patient that is in pain..not this Doc! This doctor knew I was in pain, and intentionally didn't call me back...holding out for that $250. no matter what. No empathy or concern AT ALL! I regret ever stepping foot in Dr. Dixon's office and would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for compassionate and competent care. $250 is not the issue...the principal is. read more

Just avoid. She was so rude to me the first time we met, I thought she was actually joking with me. I literally mean this, the worst bed-side treatment I have ever received. After the shock of her tone, demeanor, and talk-track, she settled into convincing me to start with surgery. Despite me asking the simple question: "Do I need to start with surgery, based on my own research...?" -- to which she replied..... "which one of us is the doctor here." After politely sitting there and taking a verbal lashing for an hour, I made it a point to find at least 3 other doctors. ALL OF WHICH said surgery was not necessary. I NEVER care enough to write reviews and do not want to tarnish anyone's reputation, but in this instance, enough is enough. Just find another surgeon in Los Angeles. read more

Just an update to my earlier review (10/12/18). Following my disastrous experience with Dr. Dixon, I went for a second opinion at Kerlan Jobe. There I found my hero -- the incredible Dr. Philip Kwong. Dr. Kwong said surgery was unnecessary despite the fact that my broken heel had affected the subtalar joint. This was the opposite of Dr. Dixon's suggestion that high-risk surgery would be needed if the joint was affected. Dr. Kwong casted me for 6 weeks, kept me off my foot for 10 weeks and I now have FULL MOBILITY and NO PAIN. It is terrible to think that Dr. Dixon would have considered an unnecessary surgery. My advice: stay away from young orthopedic surgeons who are desperate to cut you open. Find the older, more experienced doctors! read more

First saw Dr. Dixon for a peroneal tear that was healed over. She was my 4th doctor. All I needed was a custom orthotic. Got it, bought good arch support tennis shoes. After 6yrs. it greatly improved. Previous doctors I went to, I received cortisone injections, foot braces, and recommended to purchase an Amazon orthotic. 2nd problem - I broke my foot on a Sunday. Got in the next day for x-ray and diagnosis. I had 2 breaks in my foot. I was offered surgery which would have been a faster recovery but I opted for the 12 week boot. I'm pretty much out of it now. I love her!!! I'm in the medical field and I know how things work in a medical practice. They're professional, nice office, nice assistant. I highly recommend her. Sent my sister to her and she also was very happy! read more

Dr. Dixon is the best doctor I have ever had, the only bad thing is now I compare every other medical professional to my experience with Dr. Dixon and none compare. She is a talented surgeon. I had an open compound fracture that needed emergency surgery, she performed it and I gained full range of mobility. I had a complicated injury and she was so great with follow up and after care. I injured myself again and broke my ankle again due to a car accident and I did not hesitate to go to her again because she is the only one i trust for any ortho issues. She had to do another surgery because of my additional injury and I have healed really well. She is compassionate and caring, she knew things going on in my personal life and took the time to know me. I am forever grateful to her. read more

Went in to see the Dr for an ankle problem and was very comfortable being in her hands. She listened to what I had to say and did not jump to conclusions. My situation is bad but she wants to take it one step at a time unlike my other dr.. I highly would recommend her to my family and friends at this point. SAVED MY FOOT!!! I broke my navicular bone and needed a surgery. After seeing a couple of specialists I was referred to see Dr. Dixon and couldn't be happier that I did. Dr. Dixon and her assistant, Amanda, took really good care of me. After the initial visit, my surgery was promptly scheduled within a week. The surgery went well, I got some screws installed in my bone, and few stitches. My recovery went accordingly as expected, everything healed nicely and the scar is fading away day by day. Alexis Dixon is truly a talented doctor and a great surgeon, not to mention that she is friendly and kind, I highly recommend her for anyone who's seeking help. Additionally, Amanda is very sweet, attentive, and extremely responsive handling any documentations and couldn't make it any easier during such a challenging time. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Dixon's since 2017. She has treated or advised us on a variety of foot and ankle issues and treated my wife after she was hit by a car resulting in five fractures in one of her feet. In each of our experiences with Dr. Dixon, we've encountered the following: Dr. Dixon is direct, patient with explanations, and thorough in her approach and examination. She listens carefully to our complaints and concerns. She is friendly. She is kind. She provides excellent care. Scheduling appointments is easy. Appointments themselves are prompt. Since we've seen Dr. Dixon, she has had two medical assistants: Amanda, until recently, and now Ryann. Both have been friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The staff at D.I.S.C. is always pleasant and helpful. The radiologist is a truly nice man. Dr. Dixon's office is relatively far from where we live. It is a testament to the treatment we've received that we never consider finding an alternative. read more

I have seen Dr. Dixon for two separate foot injuries. One of them required surgery and the other didn't. I went to every single foot doctor in this town and she was not only the most thorough, but she also took her time with me and I felt very confident with her treatment plan. At the other offices, I felt like a number and there was no personalized attention given to me. Ally at the front desk is beyond AAAAAMAZING!!!! She is on top of everything, very responsive, and a great communicator. I wish more doctors offices operated this way. I broke my ankle in August, they got me in the day I called, (unfortunately I needed surgery) and they booked me for surgery one week later. I actually called another doctors office to get a second opinion but that doctor was booked out for two weeks. However, his receptionist asked me who my surgery was scheduled with and when I told her Dr. Dixon, she said "you are in great hands and I would have her operate on me." Hearing that from another doctors receptionist confirmed my beliefs about Dr. Dixon. She truly is one of a kind doctor. I couldn't recommend her enough. The surgery center she uses was also very impressive. I am now 8 months post op and I'm walking great and back to all my normal activities. Plus you can't even see my scar. read more

I fell down some stairs moving furniture and seriously thought I broke my ankle. Got in that day to see Dixon and was NOT disappointed (my best friend loves her and suggested I see her for my ankle). She was so friendly, figured out my ankle was just severely sprained - not broken- and actually cared about what my best options for recovery were. My follow up appointment was a breeze and because I followed her original instructions - I was back at running and working on my feet with ease and faster than I ever thought possible. What to say about Dr. Dixon other than she is a one woman wonder. My best friend took a12' fall while helping a friend move a piece of furniture downstairs. He had a pilon fracture of his right leg and, because he is on SSI, I dispaired for his care. Was he going to be crippled for life? Would he get a surgeon that would be able to deal with the complexities of this accident? Would anyone care about him enough to ensure his rehab? Yes. He was! So fortunate to have had the great fortune to have Dr. Alexis Dixon as his surgeon and friend. She can be starchy, true, but that is because she cares to make sure that rehab, therapy, and directions are taken seriously. My friend is recovering from this accident and is now taking an SDI class. He has a way to go yet but its looking good. So grateful for Dr. Dixon. read more

I came to Dr. Dixon with a painful bunion, not really knowing what I could feasibly do about it. She asked me a lot of questions to understand not just what was happening with my foot, but what my concerns were. She took a lot of time to explain my options to me, both surgical and non-surgical, and made sure that I understood so that I could make the best decision for myself. All of the staff that I met from the front desk, to the imaging technician, to Ryann her assistant and of course Dr. Dixon were amazing. On time, professional and simply nice people. She was immediately able to isolate the problem and was incredibly knowledgeable, and kind I was so impressed with her demeanor as well,especially in today's health care world, its amazing to find a DR. who takes the time to make sure you understand the diagnosis and the options for treatment. Unfortunately, I went to this doctor based on some online reviews, but should have gotten a personal recommendation first. Initially she seemed OK, but as things progressed, I knew I was in the wrong place. In my opinion, and I have a medical background, she seemed to lack the confidence or experience for optimum care. For example, she ordered a very expensive test, but when the results came back that were not in line with her diagnosis, she said that it was not a very good test anyway. What? Really? If you did not think it was a very good test, why did you order it and have me pay for it in the first place. The person that I was with and I looked at each other in disbelief! She also made some comments about my x-rays that a world-renowned orthopedist and a radiologist both disagreed with. When I started questioning some of her statements, she got dismissive and cut the visit short. Some of her support staff were very rude and unhelpful. In addition, in my experience, the billing department is probably one of the worst I have ever dealt with. In my opinion, you should think twice before booking an appointment with this doctor, as there are many other, better options available in the Los Angeles area. read more

I saw Dr. Dixon for a fracture in my foot. Her staff, especially Amanda, were friendly and efficient. The facilities are new and clean. It was more of a boutique than a factory, with more personalized care than any other doctors' offices I've been in. She was able to offer expertise in my injury and answered all my questions clearly. She's approachable and professional and I felt very comfortable with her management of my injury. I left her office with a good understanding of the treatment plan. She did not push for surgery, and her recommendations were spot on. The pain is gone and I have no problems with range of motion. read more
