He is a master of his ENT craft. Highly knowledgeable and just as caring. Most physicians we've encountered don't review a patient's information, until the actual visit. Dr. Rafii was beyond well prepared. The office is very well run. Thanks, Practice Manager, Brandon. If you need ENT attention and/or value your vocal health, no reason to go elsewhere.

All the other doctors were booked out two weeks and had layers upon layers of bureaucracy, but Dr. Raffi's practice is "concierge" and made an appointment for me at the end of his day so I ran to Beverly Hills. His appointment cost was only 25 dollars more than my local doctors and I didn't have to wait. After several vocal tests and inspection, found I hadn't lost my voice but had a "lesion" on my vocal cord! He stuck all the cameras and the scopes all around my throat and through my nose and everything until I saw a freaking PICTURE of this thing in the screen. Soon we scheduled the surgery, and I am recovering as we speak (no pun intended). His staff is pretty cool and very accommodating, and Brandon, his scheduler is pretty cool and always dresses nice. The nurses are kind and prompt as well. I had a question once and tried to call outside operating hours and Dr. Raffi even called me on his personal cell phone promptly afterwards. I don't think one can expect much better than this...

I contacted Dr.Toomari as he seemed of high acumen, has an incredible reputation and the internet is flooded with glowing reviews! The kind office staff was able to accommodate my initial consultation quickly. (Within a week) and into surgery within 2 weeks. Everything moved quickly! Dr.Toomari diagnosed me with a relatively small epigastric hernia. I explained that I was a physically active person and he offered 2 options: open or robotic surgery. He explained both options and we elected with open, no mesh. It was evident he was the surgeon for the job as you could tell by his explanations, image and confidence that he is highly skilled. The surgery was straight forward, in and out 2hrs outpatient. Physical motion was hard the first 2 days but incrementally became reasonably tolerable by day 3. Huge kudos to the office staff (Sharlyn and Kimya) they answered all my questions and responded quickly to my text messages. They were patient and thorough with my disability paperwork. Overall, I'd highly recommend Dr.Toomari and staff.

I highly recommend Dr. Toomari for his skills and for creating a wonderful office environment, so often missing in medicine today.

first off , i love old quirky things. i love old hollywood , i love character and i love ,…read morekindness~ i hate modern stream line borish "show off" people and things ~ so where many here talk about walking into the waiting room and being turned off ~ i was enamored. again, i love old hollywood, love stepping back in time, so this office to me was charming and a plus. but. yes, it's old fashioned- coming in the receptionist was lovely, anyone i came in contact with was kind~ after filling out my paperwork and a small wait i was brought back to the treatment room~ yes, as some have noted here, filled with equipment - his eye stuff he needs , big old t.v. i don't care these things make no negative note for me. it's all part of the quirky charm to me. the receptionist actually did all my pre dr eye checks ,which i feel is neat. So i guess she is more like officer manager who knows how to do pretty much everything in the office. ~she alcohol wiped the machines, checked my vision, did all those things you do with eye tests. When she finished she moved me to another room and asked me to wait there, the dr came in shortly. He came in asked the customary questions. why are you here? cataracts ~ he asked family history and what not. while he chatted he put drops in my eyes. i didn't know i was getting ; but made me giggle and added to the quirkiness of this. I asked what the drops were for. he explained he was numbing my eyes to do tests. he tested and checked all~ said i do have cataracts in both eyes~ but all else seems good, no glaucoma , no macular degeneration. he says he 'can' do cataract surgery, surgery will have a side benefit of having vision end up being better and not needing full time glasses, just for reading~he added my ins. will pay~ and he'll check the hospitals he works out of, for one that will take my ins. to cover the whole thing. that was pretty cool, for him to think beyond, think of helping me have it paid for. He walked out for a bit. i heard him make a call to another dr, telling him the office had a few people in the weaning room could he come in early. The dr on the phone said yes. Dr joe eventually came back in my room, asked for my current (now former)eye drs to get my records. I couldn't remember and with blurry eyes couldn't look it up. I asked if he has an email to send info later~ he took a piece of paper towel out of my hand and wrote his email address on it~ .....again, if you knew me, you'd know at that action i was pretty much sold on this guy. finished the check up, he said they'd put in a request for my surgery (i said yes to it earlier) . he walked me to the front desk to make an appointment, no one was there, so he stepped behind and made the appointment himself~ (like in the wizard of oz where the wizard is the fellow who answers the door) that also made me giggle~but really it's great that he's not so stuffy (no one in the office is,) that they can't step in to do what comes next like team players. he made my appointment~ and when i was all set, even asked if i wanted a calendar with his office name across the bottom.-- you bet i wanted a calendar! I loved my experience there~ yet i do have to admit was a little cautious in that, if the place is old fashioned and off beat folks like myself are attracted to this, does this mean the dr isn't good ? these are my eyes. I NEED THEM, i'm used to them, would like to keep seeing from them.. i'm making light of it here; but honestly,we all know, if we're lucky enough to have sight, it's precious. i don't take it lightly, and do not chance it, so want to be sure with the eyes i am in the right place.. When i came in for that follow up pre surgery, sitting in the waiting room i noticed up at the very top of the walls,- lined surrounding the whole waiting room- something i hadn't noticed the first visit~certificates, plaques, diplomas, awards, commendations all detailing dr joes distinguished abilities as a dr, his respect in the medical , and research community, and the respect he is given in his community at large. ok, i'm thinking this is more than pretty good~ But it was the reviews from patients here that really added to my growing like and confidence in him. i notice anyone here who rates this dr low, the reasons are either aesthetics they don't like, or waiting when the office is busy~ no one complains about his "ability." The bad reviews seem all on things that aren't important to me~ and the good reviews seem all on the care, his surgical ability, and satisfaction in all the ways that to me really count. i don't mind waiting a bit for "personal" service by genuinely "good" people. i saw the dr yesterday. the appointment was just as quirky and interesting. i'm set to have surgery shortly. i'll check back in then~but i want to note, in between appointments the dr called me himself to tell me my surgery was approved. who does that anymore?! and i mean that in a good way.

His office is filthy and hoarded up with dingy, outdated clutter. Depression kicks in the minute you climb the steep stairs or risk the rickety elevator. His assistants and technicians are rude, and one of them has a major hygiene problem. Your appointment will always be scheduled for 3:00. So will everyone else's. That's the way this MediCal mill is run. The doctor is in surgery every morning and doesn't arrive at his office until well after that time. You are sitting in the waiting room when he rolls in.. If you arrive early... say 2:45, the waiting room will be empty. By 3:15, it will be crowded with all of us MediCal indigents who are this business's financial cash cows. All of our appointments are at 3:00, and you will be lucky if you called to an exam room by 4:00pm. Once inside, you're wait another length of time and a technician will come in and do pretty much nothing. One of them came into my exam room, called up a friend on the landline, and had a loud, lengthy, laughter-filled conversation, like I wasn't even there. Then they will send you back to the waiting room, where it will be another hour or two before you are called back to be examined or treated. Another time, I found myself in a small dark crowded exam room where two other patients were being treated, and another came in just to see if there was a sink where she could wash her hands. I went to this doctor for sudden onset of floaters in my right eye. He ignored the floaters and told me that I had a cataract in that eye. Two weeks later, I was in surgery, and wish I'd gotten a second opinion before going through with it. After surgery, I was legally blind in that eye for weeks. When I would visit the Eshegian about it, he would just stand there, thumbing through a book, wondering why I could not see, and telling me that it was impossible that I could not see. His only solution was another surgery and glasses. I wasn't about to let him cut into my eye again. His selection is optical frames is from the 1980s. Seriously. And not good, fun 1980s. I had a cool pair of frames that he filled with prescription lenses so far off the mark that my eyes would instantly cross when I put them on. I didn't want anymore to do with the place or the doctor, so I ended up buying generic readers. Here are a couple of extra tidbits, to drive my point home. When I was in pre-op, waiting for the doctor to arrive, the attendants actually joked with me about how stingy Dr. Eshegian is. They told me how he will always pocket the eyedrops that are supplied for the patient at surgery, and write them a prescription that they have to fill before applying the drops. In his exam room, he has a LOCKED cabinet that is full of eye drops and ointments. If he uses one on you, he returns it to the cabinet and locks it, as if you might steal from his precious hoard of expensive drops. My final opinion, after these experiences, is that this is a super-seedy business run by a doctor who is shady and unlikeable.

My friend had SMILE done by Dr. Lee about 9 months before I began diving seriously into the procedures. I met with 2 other clinics, but ultimately chose CCRS because of the fact that my fiance and I met with Dr. Lee during the consultation itself. He stayed with us for almost an hour to walk me through my options and his recommendations. He appeared to be intelligent, empathic, humorous, and above all, he was straight with me. Other clinics with a dedicated marketing operations team are a lot more sales-y, so I felt more comfortable with Dr. Lee, and all my appointments have been so streamlined and efficient. I was a good candidate for either SMILE or LASIK, but based on my preferences for longevity, I went with LASIK. Paperwork and pre-procedure instructions were sent to me in advance, and overall I think it went smoothly! I wasn't bothered at all by the lasers as I knew what to expect. I'm currently on days 5-6 of recovery and will be seeing Dr. Lee in another follow-up appointment next week. My vision continues to fluctuate a bit but that's a normal part of healing. My fiance is also interested in getting his refractive surgery done by Dr. Lee, and I recommended a family friend to him recently too. CCRS has free parking onsite, located nearby excellent Korean food, and facilities are super clean. Staff are friendly and highly efficient. So far, I'm happy with my results, which I hope will continue to improve.

However, a couple years later, one of my eye regressed very quickly to a point where I couldn't see clearly driving (pretty much driving reliant on my one good eye). So I decided to return for a 2nd lasik procedure. The first time I didn't feel any pain and thought it was a very fast procedure. The 2nd time, however, there were pain and I was actually squirming trying to hold off the pain. Procedure went well for another couple years. Fast forward to today, the vision in one eye is very bad while the other eye is slowly regressing, no longer 20/20. I know I had bad astigmatism but I was under the assumption that it would at least last many years before it regressed again. My questions are , do you guys offer free post touch-up laser surgery? I would love to get a fix or and adjustment. I work night shift and it's making it very hard to drive at night, especially with the halos and headlights. My 2nd question, do you recommend any other procedures besides Lasik for a permanent fix? I feel like a 3rd lasik procedure would be risky and cause too many side effects.
