One of the best matcha soft serve I've had (and I've had a lot!). Completely comparable to Japan,…read morebetter than most places in the United States. The matcha flavor is strong and dense, the soft serve is not overly sweet, and best of all, it doesn't melt super easily. The soft serve holds up very well against a spoon. I find that too often soft serve is toooo soft and liquidy. This was not the case here! Also tried the yuzu slushie which was delicious and perfectly made too. Not overly sweet or bitter. Consistency excellent for a slushie. Great for a hot day if you don't want matcha here! Wish I had time to come back again before leaving Montreal!

Not only does it come with matcha ice cream, it has red beans, chunks of matcha cake, matcha jelly, and some rice crispies inside. It's texture heaven for people who like a little bit of everything. Though the rice crispies do get a bit soggy because they are on the bottom, so if I suggest trying to get to the rice crispies sooner rather than later! It's a pretty small store so it's not a hangout spot, but more of a place to pop in to grab a treat and go walk around the city. I miss this spot and wish they had a location in the US.

We were…read moretaking one last stroll around Vieux-Montréal and looking for a little snack - so I whipped out my phone and La Cave came up as being close by. The reviews looked great, so we made our way over for some bakes. I assume La Cave gets its name from the fact that you are kinda entering a cave. The bakery is located in a basement surrounded in stone both on the exterior and interior. The bakery isn't large, but it's arranged in a way that foot traffic flows well. They have a good variety of bakes, though we were there relatively late in the day so some had already run out. Despite that, we had several to choose from. We decided to go with the ham and cheese croissant and one of their stuffed croissants. The former was pretty standard - there's wasn't a lot of ham but the flavor was there. The latter was one of those viral circular croissants that have been popular on social media; they had three flavors and I went with the lemon meringue. It was pretty good - it had a good ratio of stuffing to pastry and the lemon curd had a bright flavor. Service as good, the team was eager to help and super efficient. Overall, I had a good experience at La Cave a Manger - there are definitely some good bakes here and I wouldn't hesitate to return to try more of their menu.

It's a beautiful restaurant, they cover a wide area within the hotel, including a lounge area, a more cocktail bar area, and a full restaurant set up. The beauty? They cover anything you might want. The downside? They're busy and usually severely behind schedule. I've been with great, consistent staff and I've been and left after 20 minutes of no check in. It can be hit or miss, but when it hits? It hits. They also provide the food that you order up to your room, which is probably my favorite part. Hotels rarely offer the same great menu to your room and so I always know when I've had a long workday that I can just get the same great dinner and lounge in bed after and avoid people. They also are great at getting breakfast to your door early, which makes trips to Montreal so much easier, especially if you're going for work. They always have a great selection of drinks, full bar so they offer everything, and the bartenders has been the same for at least a couple years. They're really nice. They do a good job. Ask for the food, it is always good, and the part I love is that they're very good about allergies when you mention it to them. They offer gluten-free bread and they change out ingredients. I've never had a bad meal or snack. So even when sometimes the weight is too long I know I'll be back another day and I'll have something great.

There is a bar in front with lounge style seating. It was eclectic and the music had a French twist. I ate lamb the first night and steak the night after. Both delicious but I liked the lamb better and the nioch was a nice touch. The thinly sliced fries with the steak was difficult to eat. The octopus was amazing and soft. Overall great and attentive staff and good food.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Very popular dumplings restaurant…read morein the Concordia University area. Dumplings were good but comparable to other nearby dumpling places. The Long Version: My husband and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant was packed. We snagged the last table available. The restaurant is in the heart of the Concordia University area and we were the only people in the restaurant, other than staff, not of typical university age. Lol. We both got soup dumplings. I got the juicy pork ones ($10.99 for 10) and my husband got the pork and shrimp ones ($14.99 for 10). They were a good size. The dumpling skin was a bit thicker than at other places and maybe a bit tougher too. That did make them hold the soup in better though, lol. They were tasty, but similar in tastiness to other dumpling restaurants we've been to in Montreal (that were less busy and even cheaper). I expected them to be better due to their popularity, but I still enjoyed them. Service was pleasant and efficient. Decor is casual. There are steps down to enter the restaurant. We walked there from our hotel, but if you're driving it's street parking only. Good luck with that, lolz. Review #70 (2025)
