2 Stars for a cool concept that doesn't seem to commit. I was so excited to search around Magnolia and Pine for an unmarked green door that would lead me to a hidden bar I'd read about (on Yelp and elsewhere). A new, hidden speakeasy-type bar sounded totally appealing and since I hadn't seen a ton of traditional marketing I was hoping I'd still be one of the few in 'the know' that would get to experience The Treehouse. Unfortunately, they seem to have abandoned the hard-to-find aspect that made this place so intriguing as they now have a bouncer standing outside and a chalkboard sign on the sidewalk... Even the bouncer admitted he didn't like that they let go of the concept so quickly. BUT, to be fair- being hard to find, while appealing to the curious at heart, may be off-putting for others. I get the business reason behind the change, but it makes this bar much like any other downtown except teeny tiny and very crowded. So crowded, in fact, that we didn't stay long enough to get a drink as there was no real room to stand. I will definitely give it another go on a week night versus the weekend, but hopefully they use social media and word of mouth enough to be able to go back to the mysterious unmarked door (Heck- The Pharmacy and Hanson's seem to have found the magic combination of mystery and word of mouth so there's a chance!). i have been here countless times. never had an issue before today. I am going to describe the bouncer so the business knows who I am talking about. The 40 year old, heavyset, white, bouncer with a ginger beard denied my ID today. I am 21 years old. After I said to him "Sir what are you talking about?" He said "get a better fake" IT IS MY REAL ID.... I have never been denied from a bar before and no offense but maybe get a bouncer who isn't literally ancient. He clearly doesn't know what a 21 year old girl looks like nor real ids(saw some real young people go in before me). disappointed by the service and hope this man is never a working bouncer again. I wanted to love it -- even after reading all the bad reviews -- because the atmosphere was absolutely spot on. Aptly named "The Treehouse", it's exactly how I would imagine a treehouse turned bar. We came pretty early in the evening (around 8pm) and there was no bouncer or sign, just an open door. Walking up the lantern-lit, wood adorned stairs, I found myself getting really excited and becoming impressed. Upstairs, you find a cute space with green astroturf and a lot of wood surfaces. It wasn't too packed at that time, but the space was definitely limited -- no bar seating, no table seating. We ended up scrunched up at the end of the bar near the door. It was pretty uncomfortable. The bartenders were nice. They got our drinks right away and the drinks were ok. My friends got the Morning Wood (which I didn't really like) and I just got the Moscow Mule (my go to drink when I don't see anything I really want). My mule was served in a mason jar, which isn't the traditional vessel; it was strange since I saw other people with the mules in the right copper mugs. Everything was also very expensive for what it was. It got pretty crowded around 9:30pm, so we left. I noticed that the bouncer had arrived by then and he was checking IDs to let people in. There was barely any standing room by that time so I was surprised they were still letting people in. I wonder what the total capacity is. All in all, I think The Treehouse has a LOT of potential. The atmosphere is pretty awesome, but it's overcrowded and not so much a speakeasy anymore. It's not really a place that you can go and comfortably hang out, especially not during the weekend. I wouldn't be adverse to coming back if a friend invited me, but I personally wouldn't choose The Treehouse as a must-hit night spot. p.s. I didn't really get the tvs with fish on them. The concept is cool, but they really should have called it "Basement's upstairs storage closet" as one of my friend's pointed out. The space is MUCH tinier then I expected, I think 10 people, including the bartender would put them at capacity. Because of the lack of space, the bar tenders have to duck under the bar to get in and out which is really awkward if you're stuck standing in front of that part. Also, they thought it would be a good idea to put up a dart board, which means you can't even use the high tops for fear of having your eye poked out. The actual bartender was nice enough, but one from basement came to hang out with and take shots with him, which led him to ignoring customers and I thought that was kinda douchey. I ordered some gin-cucumber-collins drink which was really watered down, barely had booze and cost $2 too much and as did everything on the menu. read more

Hidden speakeasy near Pine/Magnolia. Look for a green door. I'd give you more specifics but I don't want to ruin the fun :) Upon entering, you proceed up a steep staircase lit by lanterns into a loft - a single room with wood paneling, a faux deer head, Astroturf on the floor, a few tables and a bar. They have full liquor, with a short craft cocktail list, mostly served in mason jars. It's fun to watch the bartenders at work - one of the drinks, a smoked apple cinnamon, even involved the capture of actual smoke from a cedar plank into the jar as part of the preparation. My basil lemonade was tasty and light, and my friend's Columbian Bulldog was very unique - coffee-infused vodka, butterscotch and milk - would be a great dessert drink! I'm going with three stars instead of four because the vibe is just slightly off to me due to the hip-hop dance mixes being played and two huge TVs showing football games - but everything else is pretty chill, and the place has potential. Just like other reviews said... It's a "cool college bar". I would more so call it an Instagram hot spot. If you're older than 22 and not in college it's a waste of time. The servers are nice. The space is cute enough but could be better utilized. There are places inside to take cute pictures but there are definitely better bars. Discover this great little place while in town on business and staying with a good friend downtown. I never would have stumbled apond it if it hasn't been for my friend Nye. Cozy astroturf and bar stools are the home of hand crafted drinks from some of the most down to earth bartenders I've met downtown. They have a handful of selected crafts they make and if Andrew is there he can craft an amazing Old Fashioned. Music was good seemed like an ipod yet it set the mood with upbeat and good tempo tunes. One of the better speakeasy bars in Orlando. I know many people love going to the dark speakeasy bars with stuck-up bartenders and $15 drinks that contain ingredients only a hipster would know and love, but those just aren't my scene. Many people may not agree with me, but what I'm looking for in a speakeasy bar is a hidden small spot with good drinks and nice bartenders. The Treehouse does a great job providing just those features. Located on Magnolia and Pine in a place with an unmarked door (which doesn't require the gimmicky password), Treehouse is a fun little bar with a theme I can only describe as jungle speakeasy. I've heard that they sometimes have a bouncer and chalkboard sign, but I haven't run into that when I've went there, so your experience may vary. However, once you go in the door, you climb up a bunch of grassy stairs to get to a small little room. The room only has a handful of tables and a bar, so this isn't somewhere you would go with a large group unless you want drinks real quick before heading to whatever club is through the door on the right side of Treehouse. I've been to Treehouse two times, and both times I've ordered the same thing: The Morning Wood. The first time I went with a larger group, I was actually allowed to make the drink (which is a fun process of catching smoke and mixing in alcohol), while I had it made for me the second time. Both times, the drink was your basic cocktail with bacon and cedar smoke thrown in aka they took a regular cocktail and made it unique and tasty. Rather than wonder what I was getting and whether or not it would be good, I received exactly what I wanted. My wife's friend was visiting and has very particular tastes, so she was very happy that she was able to get her drink and actually know what it was without needing to consult Google. When it comes to service, the bartenders have always been very pleasant and wiling to talk to you about the drinks. While it can be a little slow if they get a lot of people, they come off as if they are honestly trying and don't see you as some uncultured bum who isn't worthy of their magical bartending skills. Instead, they see you as a customer trying to enjoy a nice drink while relaxing in their little speakeasy. If I were a rich guy during Prohibition, these are the type of bartenders I would expect to be serving me. Overall, Treehouse is a solid speakeasy that treats its clients with respect and provides solid drinks in a small yet cool atmosphere. While other people may want that hipster stuck-up vibe at their speakeasy, I'll take good service and good drinks in a small unmarked bar all day long. read more

For a long time The Treehouse was an absolute stop for any Old Fashioned lover I came across. I've taken many friends and acquaintances here for just this drink because it was the best in Orlando, and one of the only places that actually plank smokes the glass. They make it artfully, smoking the wood into the glass before adding the beloved contents. Makes for a fun little show too, adding flare to the experience! Recently, it just hasn't tasted quite the same as before. Not sure if bartenders aren't the same or what but I'm still holding out hope. For me, it's what made this place so special! This was a fairly fun bar, but nothing too special. I came here with my husband for a private Meetup event and got to make a couple of their drinks. The cocktail menu is very small, and not overly inspired. They have one (the Morning Wood), that's pretty tasty, but nothing else really stood out as special. The Morning Wood was cool because they burned a cedar board and caught the smoke in the glass before serving it to you. The smoke flavor is really neat and the cocktail is very tasty. However, it takes them a pretty long time to make, and I could see this place getting very crowded very fast. The room itself is cute but tiny. There's a very discreet door (matching the "speakeasy" theme) that leads up some stairs to a room with an astro-turf floor and a "tree house" inspired design. Frankly, the tree house theme does't make sense with the speakeasy theme. It seems like they needed to pick one concept and stick with it. Overall, it was an interesting place and had sort of a cool look. I also did really enjoy the Morning Wood cocktail, and I wasn't insulted by the pricing (though it wasn't "cheap"). I'm not one to leave reviews online.... most of the time I find that they're blown way out of proportion, but I was mildly offended by this place. Bartender was NOT very nice to us. I first asked for a perfect manhattan, unfortunately he didn't have a clue what that meant. Which was OK with me, but once I explained, he told me it was gross, and that he didn't have both of the vermouths needed to make the drink. So I casually laughed it off and asked for a Moscow Mule instead (Which WAS on their menu). He was then very pushy and called my boyfriend and I boring for ordering them.... After much arguing he finally agreed to make them. He made mine first, and it was served in the traditional copper mug, and then when my boyfriend got his... a mason jar? A lot of bars will make mules and serve them in normal rocks glasses... however I feel if you have them on your menu, you should have the proper glassware. I was tired of conversing with him, so we just accepted the jar and tried to pay. My boyfriend had just come from out of town so I wanted to buy him a drink.... The bartender made fun of him for letting me pay... I was very insulted. I would love to try this place another time, but not so sure I ever want to run into that bartender again. read more

Would like to try the drinks. I can't rate those because I was turned away for wearing khaki shorts and a polo. My wife and friends went in to report people inside wearing the same clothes or worse. My wife reports that the bartender was apologetic and said people with shorts shouldn't have been inside, but apparently t-shirts and jeans are fine, so I am not sure I understand the purpose of the dress code. I enjoyed this bar a lot, especially the Attic (2nd Floor), until the end of the night. I was in the exact front of the line for the bathroom, waiting to enter (before the official close of the night), when a bouncer literally slide in front of me to cut me off and told me to walk downstairs because "they were closed". I asked if they could assure that there was a bathroom where they were directing us to and they said yes. Upon walking down the stairs, there was no bathroom and the staff would not allow me back up the stairs to where we were, or even inside the building. This location is entirely rude and disrespectful of its business. I do not recommend including this bar in your night out because they do not give a single care about your business and disregard your attendance and money paid at the bar (this review was written before and posted at 2:35 am when Orlando bars close at 3 and 2 of my friends had their phones stolen within the bar). read more
