I am second in line and after two hours still wasn't seen. horrible attitudes and demeanor from an employee shooing off people in need like they are a dog. i understand there is a process and procedure but if you don't want to work when you are at work. quit your job and let someone who does take it. this experience alone is my deciding factor on leaving the state

*Holiday Review* One cannot and should not miss the light…read moredisplay. The city of Denver is still celebrating the holidays, although without the traditional pomp and circumstance. The presentation begins promptly at 545p and lasts for 5minutes. The lights are orchestrated with holiday music and shows real well. Even on a Saturday, the crowd was minimal so we had a good view from Civic Center Park. A nice way to bring in a little cheer to your evening. Thank you Denver for continuing this tradition in 2020.

I thought all was fine when I heard the cop ask if this purse was mine. I said yes, and he proceeded to hold up my cat keychain, (that does have two holes in it you can put your fingers through, if you need to protect yourself on a late night walk or something?) and then told me (in the most snooty tone) that "this is highly illegal. This could be considered a brass knuckle. I could arrest you for a felony right now." (He said that last sentence incredibly condescendingly). I was taken aback, but I apologized and begrudgingly thanked him for his "kindness." What a pompous jerk!

Art for the sake of art…read more At first glance, it looks like a group of large marble and granite figures, but on closer inspection it is a group of two judges, one female and one male, and four children. Seated outside the Carr Center, the two groups look like they are engaged in an intimate conversation. Nice to be able to walk by the Colorado Yule marble and green granite figures of "Justice for All" that were created by Madeline Wiener, a New York-born, Denver-based sculptor with an international following. Inspired by the warmth of real judges, Wiener tried to create a friendly space for children and their families to be welcome. The statues of the children look so innocent as they try to ingest the wisdom of the justices. Kids can climb or sit on the statues. For their parents, it is a great photo op. Although, I did not enter the actual courthouse, I know that there is more artwork inside as well. Walking through downtown Denver, there is so much public art. This is due to a state law that manadates 1 percent of public building costs be dedicated to the acquisition of art which gave the construction of the Carr Center an art budget of just over $1.7 million. So nice to be able to take a walk and just enjoy art for the sake of art.

Though I did enjoy the experience it literally took from 8am to 5pm. Could have easily ended in half the time but the lawyer had to hash out the legalize and the jury had to leave the room to not be prejudice.

It's never fun waking up, making time to drag yourself to a courthouse waiting in line, seeing the…read morejudge, paying a fine at the window. I will say however, this was not a completely bad experience. My kid asked me to accompany him to help deal with his first traffic ticket. We got there 20 min early, checked in. Took another 30 min to be called, 60 min to be called into the judge, 10 min to pay at the window. Took time but not a bad experience. Take some work or entertainment with you and you'll be fine.

In the walls there are a series of interesting names, and Latin mottos on two opposite sides that describe labor and rest. Definitely an epic courthouse to see in Denver!

To date, we have toured seven different state capitol buildings around the country and have taken a tour in each of them. I would rank this tour very highly. There are a fair number of stairs and walking on the tour so if stairs, walking, or the elevation is a concern, use the elevator during your visit or on the tour. The building is worth visiting to see the marble alone. It is everywhere and it is gorgeous. One of the highlights of the tour was going to the top of the building. There are many, many stairs to take (90? 99? I cannot recall) to get there so keep that in mind. But if you reach the top, you will be rewarded with amazing 360 degree views in all directions. Well worth a visit!

And, it really is silly that it took me so long to put my name on the line for one of the daily free tours. Colorado really has such a wonderful Western, independent spirit. The tour was not only decent with the history of the building and the culture which is Colorado, I learned some things contributed by this state that I didn't know. Like, did you know that the song "America the Beautiful" was a poem written by English professor Katharine Lee Bates after climbing Pikes Peak? Did you know Colorado was really active in the women's suffrage movement? There's plenty more to say about this fair state and the house that leads it, but I'll let ya'll learn for yourselves. The view from the top is also soooo very TOPS, well worth the tour just to take in that vista.

The food was actually really fresh and very good. There is a little coffee shop just inside the lobby area too. Security is not a big problem, even when I came on a busy day with over 500 jurors coming through, I got through very quickly with no issues. I even had my dolly loaded with lots of boxes for a lengthy trial and it wasn't too bad getting through security. Just a heads up, they do not let you bring through any liquids or food, but if you get a note from the bailiff in your division, it's not a problem.

Zero customer service. They lie and don't keep their word or commitments. In my opinion the commissioner of my area should be looking for work in fast foods. I've dealt with a few departments and none deliver satisfactory service. They're really good at getting my Tabor refund with empty promises. Looking forward to moving to a county that provides decent roads and services.
