This place is hands down the best Mexican food on planet earth! Yeah, you heard me right, the best Mexican food on the entire planet! I have been coming to Alfredo's since I was a boy, for around 30 year's and it's still the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. This location hasn't been around that whole time, I originally ate at the other location on 14th, but this locations food actually tastes better. The food is always fresh and always excellent! I have lived in LA and all over Texas, and I have eaten at many many many Mexican restaurants and this place tops them all. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is always superb! First time dining here, ordered the adobado plate and it was dry and bland. However the wife had a chicken enchilada with beef taco and said she enjoyed it. That is the reason for 3 stars instead of 2. Would I eat here again ? Probably not , too many better mexican restaurants in Abilene and surrounding areas. read more

I have never written a review before no matter how good or bad but this place literally made me download yelp. Not to just complain but just genuinely let other people know that this food is not what it is reviewed to be. We actually tried this place solely based on reviews. We got "chips and queso", "chicken enchiladas", and "supreme nachos". The cheese used is store bought nacho cheese like the one at baseball concession stands, guacamole is also store bought, and the beans were sour. Overall poor quality for $37 and I'd give the place 0 stars if I could. But hey, churros we're good! read more

Always love their food and fresh salsa! When you order anything on carne Assada menu expect to eat a large amount of food. A carne Asada taco on corn is really two corn tortillas and just enough to save some people money. Order chips while you have a short wait, they have amazing salsa verde, and fresh chopped onions. Decide to try another Mexican joint in town for dinner. They didn't have a menu online so I wrote down possible choices ( Chicken Flautas, or Carne Asada Nachos) and sent the husband. He came home with Carne Asada Nachos which was chips, beans, guacamole, carne, and cheese on top . He had the wet chicken burrito which was flour tortilla with chicken and red sauce over the top. The red sauce on top had a smokey burnt taste to it but one suggestion instead of using the enchiladas sauce over the burrito they should of use the red salsa they send you home with. As for my meal it was very good, nachos are always a good choice if you don't know what to get. I'll be coming back to try something else and to dine in. read more

Not very happy with the guy who answered the phone. He answers the phone, I ask if I could place an order for about an hour in advance. The guy sighs asked me to hold, then what sounded like he threw the phone in the counter. Finally comes back to the phone and again i ask if i could place this order early. He told me I could, with another sigh. I placed my order with him and let him know that my husband would pick it up at said time. My husband went to pick it up and he too said about a guy being rude. This presents some problems as the food is generally top notch and the desire to order variety off the menu can leave one eating way too much food than is healthy or advisable. If you can avoid this trap, you will be rewarded with a dense tasty Mexican fling. Recommend the Carne Asada in nearly any form. Anything with carne asada is good from here. I usually order the Carne Asada plate and its alot of food! Usually have leftovers for another meal. The rice and beans are delicious. That's a must for any mexican restaurant. Their horchata is some of the best in town and they have menudo every day! The drive thru is always slow so don't expect to make a quick pick up. The staff isn't super friendly either but the food alone keeps me coming back. Try it. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a small place- 5 booths and 2 tables. Friendly quick service. I liked the salsa! I ordered the carne Asada plate. Good meat, nice seasoning. The rice was perfect! The beans weren't as warm as I like and the tortillas are store bought. 4 stars for the salsa, rice, meat and pickled carrots! You do have to pay for chips .. Only .70 though. But no it's the Little Mexican with the Big Hat Alfredo's 5th location in Abilene went there today and had lunch. Same god Tex-Mex as the other locations around town. Place has a lot of parking. I was in town looking for something good for lunch. Reading the reviews for Alfredo's here on yelp I decided to check it out. I ordered the shredded beef burrito and my wife had the bean and cheese burrito. Neither one was as large as another review had stated but that was ok. We added cilantro, and salsa to both burritos and started eating. The shredded beef burrito retained allot of water so I grabbed a salsa cup and drained it off. The taste of the food was bland at best which I was somewhat able to mask with a half cup of salsa. My wife's bean and cheese burrito was also very under seasoned and did not have much cheese in it at all. The food is inexpensive but not really worth the cost. Will I come back to Alfredo's Mexican food if given the chance? To quote one of my favorite authors "Nevermore" Bottom line - As far as the burritos If there was a Chipotle within 30 miles of this location Alfredos would probably close. read more

Nice little hole in the wall restaurant. I have been there several times. It is a gamble when I go, because some times my food is great and sometimes its overcooked and not good at all. It all depends on who is cooking that day. Also, sometimes they will have someone at the register that doesnt understand much english which makes placing the order difficult. This goes for all Alfredo's spots in Abilene: Not quality at all. They cook few things fresh, you can tell alot of stuff comes out of a can. Not spicy at all and all around rather bland. Not recommended if you have taste buds or are use to good Tex/Mex. read more

When I first got stationed at Dyess I was given carne asada burritos from here and lemonade. When I got back from deployment this month it was my first breakfast. These burritos are gigantic and they're meat is delicious. If you lift this is the place to go for post workout grub cause I'm pretty sure it the perfect afterburner to any meal and I could eat it 3 meals a day. read more

Pretty neat little place in the otherwise desolate Abilene, TX. Plastic palm trees all over the place. Looks like a Malibu Barbie Taco Stand. The fish taco is pretty good. Not heavily breaded like most. The asada burrito is also a good choice. Above average Tex-Mex. Give it a go. read more

A rip-off. We just ate there, and while we generally like the taste of their food, it seems that every time we go back, their prices are higher and higher. Chips aren't free, either.
