Today, I love a business that can alleviate my stress before I even realize how stressed I am. I had several packages to ship today, some through SpeedX, one through FedEx, and some through USPS. In my head, I was already planning my day around three different stops. SpeedX here. FedEx there. USPS somewhere else. Basically, I was preparing for a little shipping road trip. I made Alhambra Mail & Parcel my first stop to drop off my SpeedX package. While I was there, I asked, "Do you happen to take USPS too?" Then I noticed the sign... WAIT. YOU TAKE FEDEX TOO?! Suddenly, what I thought was going to be three stops became ONE STOP. Listen, it doesn't take much to make me happy these days, but saving me time, extra driving, and unnecessary errands? Now THAT is customer service! The staff was friendly, the process was easy, and I walked out feeling like I had just checked three things off my to-do list without actually making three trips. I am surprised by all the negative reviews. I have been using this site for my business for about 15 years and their service is really unbeatable: they accurately and promptly sort themail, they rarely increase their very reasonable prices, and they are just good at what they do, which is a basic mailbox store plus notary service. Before I started with them I used two different companies, one of which was outrageously expensive and had shady billing and always mixed up the mail, and the other of which abruptly went out of business without notice and left all their mail customers screwed. By that metric, Alhambra Mail & Parcel offers five-star service. I think the reviews claiming this is some kind of scam should be removed. There may be people running scams who use this as their address, but that is also true of the post office. The mailbox business is entirely legit and they are the best in town. read more

I have to mail packages once or twice per week as part of my job. Every single time I have gone in this store to mail packages in the last six to twelve months, including yesterday, there is at least one unmasked customer (or customer wearing mask down below nose and mouth, on chin) standing at the counter. When it's finally my turn at the counter (the service is verrrrry slow), I ask the proprietor "Don't you require masks to be worn in this store?" The answer is always a sheepish yes, followed by an impossible to believe excuse (I didn't notice until he was almost done paying; he didn't have a mask and we were out of extra masks; oops we forgot to ask her to put one on). Looking for a good replacement store. Considering just switching back to using the Post office. read more

Basic drop off spot. I brought my Amazon packages for return and the gentleman explained they do not have the basic tech to print out the return labels from the QR codes provided by Amazon. On the plus side the parking lot has spaces available. - which, if you've visited the nearby Peet's/Fedex print shop, will be a welcome sight! read more

I came here earlier today to get fingerprints done, a process I had never been through before. I drove out from Davis. Despite being located on a very busy street with lots of parallel parked cars, I rolled into the parking lot and found a spot right away. NOT my usual experience in Sac, so I was already pleased. The employee greeted me right when I walked in, and asked what I was there for. I told him and after finishing up with the person before me (who was also getting fingerprints done, must be a popular service here) he walked me to the back, washed his hands thoroughly, and then began to capture my fingerprints. The entire process took about 5min, and I spent about 15min in the store. I agree with others that it is a time capsule - the music playing was even early 2000s. Giving a good review for parking and promptness, but keep in mind I did not ship or mail anything here and do not know much about their prices. read more

I have been a loyal customer of AMP for the last several years. They have never been very efficient or customer-service oriented, but I wanted to support the local family-run business anyway. I give them a ton of business and I always use cash so that they don't have to pay credit card fees since they're a small business. Unfortunately I have had a string of bad experiences there lately, and I've decided to find a new shipping place, because Chang, the owner, clearly doesn't value loyal customers. I just went in there to mail an envelope (the postage came to about $2.50), and then he tacked another 50 cents on top of that "for the meter". I asked why it was 50 cents more and he said that's what he charges to use his meter. I realize that he needs to make money, but most shipping places charge the same rates as the post office for regular mail. When I asked him about it, he shrugged and said, "you can go to the post office if you want". After waiting in his line for 20 minutes while he helped people at a glacial pace, I really didn't want to drive to the post office to save 50 cents. Last week, I had a few gifts to send and I told him I wanted to use Priority Mail. He grabbed a large cardboard box (way too big for my items), and before I knew it he had put my items in the box and taped it up. I said "what about the free Priority Mail boxes"? He said, "oh yeah, you could have used one of those, but it's too late now that this one is all taped up" and then he had the nerve to charge me $5 for the oversized box that I didn't need. These are just the last few examples of the terrible service I've received at AMP. They do the absolute minimum necessary to get by, they nickel-and-dime you to death, and they do nothing to take care of their loyal customers. Absolute worst. I work in the area and went in there to drop off a pre-paid UPS package for UPS pickup. The husband flat out told me that my package was too big, and I couldn't leave it there. He basically said that if he wasn't getting any money for it, then I should go elsewhere. They nickel and dime you for everything in there; they charge exorbitant prices to get documents notarized. They even mark-up standard mail rates, when you could drive 30 seconds down the street and go to the post office. I was willing to give these small business owners a chance; I know that it's got to be difficult to compete with UPS Stores and FedEx/Kinkos. I'm sorry, but I'm never giving them any of my business again. They have absolutely no people skills. read more

I don't know what's up with some of the super negative reviews on Yelp. My guess is that those issues must have happened under the old owners. Wow! I've been using Alhamabra Mail and Parcel for 6 years and have been 100% satisfied. I have a mail drop which is a great service when I'm expecting packages. The owner, Chang, has helped me many times. For example explaining how to save money when shipping to China. It is a family run place. Another reviewer talks about computers, but AMP has never had computers. I park my bike on the pole outside the store. Give'm a try!! read more

I've been using Alhambra Mail and Parcel for over 5 years now and I couldn't be happier. I used to work in the area, so originally I picked them out because they were close. When I moved to the suburbs, I decided to stick with them because they forward my mail to me whenever I request it so I don't have to drive in. I also like that I can call and talk to the owner and ask what type of mail is in my box to see if there's something important that I've been waiting for. Since I have my mail forwarded to me, I don't need to go into the store too often, but the times I have gone in, they remember who I am, which box is mine, and always have a kind word for my kids (always a big plus in my book). read more

If you are not an arrogant American wanting exceptional VIP service (like these other people that come once/twice that have written reviews), but would like a chill atmosphere, mom and pop type shop, then this is your place to go. Like any good midtowner- I enjoy supporting local, but once in awhile, let's face it- you run into crap. I came In one monday afternoon after the lunch rush had calmed-because I knew the post office would be packed still. It's like we walked back into the early nineties! (no, really- check out the dates on things) we waited a good 10 minutes without so much as a "hello" while they helped the only other two customers in. BTW- WHO comes in to ship gifts (wrapped) not even boxed up yet?! Is this a normal thing? The shop charges a fee to pack things up for shipping- but this takes a really long time! WTH? Well, I spent about 5 more minutes there, browsing through dusty postcards, and outdated greeting cards- then had it. I left. Guess what? Not even a "goodbye". Walk the extra few blocks and save a few cents at the post office. Never like to dish out negativity, but DAMN y'all.... read more

I live about a block from here, so it is an easy stop. I gave them 3 stars because when I go to the post office (2 blocks away) at 4 pm and the line is to the door, I can usually just drive in and out of Alhambra Mail & Parcel. I agree that the prices they charge for postage (marked up) is a little annoying, plus I went twice in a week to mail out the same packet and I was charge 2 different prices.. I also gave them 3 stars because this is an easy place to do some copying. It is 10 cents a page, and since it is usually empty, you can just use the machine, do what you need and then go pay. It's a lot less confusing than Kinkos. read more

I always get great service from this place. The owner lets me know which is the best way to send my packages and the cheapest way. I screwed up by forgetting to record the outgoing address before he sealed up my packages. He very cheerfully opened the taped up box and got the address and then taped it up again. Besides there is a real good UPS store just as close and for those who don't know all the UPS stores are locally/privately owned. It's a franchise. This place collects my mail all year and sorts out the trash, then they send me the valuable mail overseas where I live. They've always done a very good job and are dependable. Really nice family run business. I can bring stuff in and just set it on the counter, and they will box it up real nice and ship. They charge a fair price for their product and service. My 1st and only experience with this store was disastrous. The store has the ambiance of a morgue and I was soon to learn why. I am a bicycle commuter and all I wanted to do was send a 1 page fax so, because I didn't know if they provided the service or not, I walked my bike into the store to inquire. They said they did so since a fax typically takes about 1 minute and since I was the only person in the store, I kept my bike with me. About 2 minutes later I was told by some angry old man from the back room to "Get that bike out of my store!" I agreed and walked outside but there is no place within 100 yards to lock my bike up. I returned to the store with my bike to explain this and to get my fax sheet back since it wasn't working and the angry old man blew up. He was nearly screaming at me before I had the chance to explain that I was getting my paper and leaving. Keeping in mind that I was the only person in the store and conscientiously holding my bicycle, I told him he needs to calm down and told him where he can put his business and he jumped over the counter to run me out of the store that I was already on my way out of. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had. This treatment of customers does not warrant this company turning a profit and they will deserve to soon run themselves out of business. I am an honest person and am non confrontational. I have no personal reason to fabricate stories about this place but I recommend that NO ONE patronize this establishment because they should not be allowed, as business owners, to treat people this way. read more
