Yeah it is seriously outdated (1960's) and only ONE person runs it. In fact, when she goes to lunch, the office is closed. People need to realize that this is not your traditional post office and treat it as such. It is tucked away in the corner of an older shopping center where Arteaga Market is. They use this location mostly for other postal processes that are not done at the main hub on Industrial, hence having to sometimes ring a bell for service. They just open the doors out of convenience figuring hell we can give services to the public while occupying the building. Otherwise a full staff here would not be cost effective. It still has active PO boxes inside. The one person Sherry who is here is very knowledgeable and knows postage. We have used her for larger scale business problems or if I have a real question the 1-800 number cannot answer, she usually can. No she is not warm and fuzzy but she is friendly enough meaning being a staff of one, there is no time for dilly-dallying or idle chit chat or dealing with clueless people and I can appreciate that. So if you are in a hurry or have a zillion questions, this is not the location for you! Don't come right before 5 or around lunch time. You come here for a simple "I need to buy postage" or drop off a package. read more

Wendy's service is wonderful! I've been coming to this post office for almost 10 years because it's in my neighborhood. The bad reviews didn't do her justice. She's extremely knowledgeable and efficient. In some cases, I didn't have to explain everything and she already knew exactly what I needed and advised me accordingly. In other cases, she did extra to find out my lost packages, which was not due to her fault. She even remembered me and had my packages ready when she saw me entering the building. She's very to the point in the way she speaks. No flowery or sweet talk. I guess that was why it might have come across some people as "rude" in their reviews, but she's absolutely not! She's very nice and works hard to run the one-person office. I appreciate her precise and direct information. I recently ordered fabric online - it was sent before I realized I had given them the wrong address! The company couldn't recall the package to change the address so I went to Wendy at the Sacramento Ave USPS in West Sacramento and told her my sad story. This is the closest USPS to me even though I live all the way in south natomas so I go here frequently to mail my Etsy packages. The building is very outdated as others have mentioned but who cares? Sac isn't exactly known for its beautiful architecture. Wendy is nice and she always processes my drop off packages in a timely manner which I (and my customers!) appreciate. read more

Ever since I moved here, I've always been coming to this Post Office. Yes, it's a little dirty and everything is outdated but staff has been friendly so far. There is a middle aged red-haired woman who works the counter here 90% of the time. She is the most miserable person that I have encountered at a post office. People like her are the reason I hate to go to the post office. Normally it is the line but in this case there is never a line at this location. You just have to put up with the rudest, most bitter about life, postal employee that you will ever encounter. I bring items in here with prepaid eBay labels and she will regularly remeasure and reweigh the boxes then critique the packaging materials I use even though everything I do is within guidelines. If I ever ship media mail she automatically looks at me like I am trying to scam the system (she assumes it is not a book I am mailing). She has the meanest scowl on her face every time I go there so it is not like I encountered her on a one-off bad day. I always smile and am over-the-top nice because I don't want her screwing with my stuff. But today I have had enough. I hope you are reading this you nasty woman. This is one of my favorite post offices! Sherrie has always been very helpful, knowledgeable, and extremely patient. I sell a lot on Ebay and she always gives me the best advice on packaging and shipping. She always asks me about my day and I look forward to seeing her. One of the nicest and polite people I know! I try to avoid the Merkley location as it is cramped, crowded, parking is difficult and will just add unwanted stress to your life. read more

Horrible post office. Always closed or on break. For a government agency building these guys should be fired instantly. They never come back from break on time and there will be a line of people waiting outside. I have never heard of a post office that closes for breaks 3-4 times a day plus lunch. I'm lucky when I go there and it's open. read more

this is one of the original post offices in West Sacramento I'm calling it vintage. easy parking good location helpful friendly staff they even have a drive up mailbox outside they check twice a day. sometimes one of the staff members bring her dog with her but he's friendly. they have easy post office boxes with easy hours for access. there is hardly ever a line. read more

This location is horrible. I had sent and envelope containing important things through the mailbox outside for over a week in a half now. The location I sent it to didn't recieve my mail due to the fact they probably don't go get the mail outside everyday like they should! It shouldn't of taken that long. Now its more of a Hassel on me because they can't do their jobs right. I even tried calling this post office to ask about my mail but couldnt get through because the line was busy for an hour! Also every time I go in there it seems like there's always one worker just workin and the others are sitting in the back, if they'd have more workers things would get done faser! read more
