Dr. Askari is a very friendly man. He takes care of his patients but respects everyone's busy schedule. An efficient periodontist but does good work. Once after a procedure I got an infection from getting food where I shouldn't have. Dr. Askari called in a prescription for me even though I was working in Minneapolis. Around 8:50 am I show up to my periodontal dental appointment which was scheduled for 9am on 2/7/23. there is no receptionist there to check me in around 9:10 someone came out from the back. I approach the counter and received no acknowledgment from her .. I then tell her that I have a 9am appt . Her demeanor was of someone who looked like my presence was a bother to her. She was cold , unprofessional and rude ..she then asked for my name without even raising her head up to look at me and she then start to grab a clip board to give to me assume some papers to fill out . I at that point just told her I was leaving. I was not comfortable with the situation and no longer wanted to be seen in that office . 2 days later a get a bill from the office for canceling the appointment. This guy is awful, don't go! I have no fear of dentists, no dental anxiety whatsoever, but I had forgotten how much it hurts to have Novocain shots when the dentist doesn't do that cheek pinching trick to make shot go in easier. He showed no concern for the intense pain I was in; I finally had to tell him point blank to stop, after the fifth Novocain shot. Later, when I mentioned the cheek-pinching trick, he was uninterested. It's standard practice at all 4 of the dentists I've been to in the last 8 years (one moved away, her successor was sweet but too slow, then a third new general dentist and a fourth one for scaling). Moreover, his scaling work is somewhat sloppy -- he missed spots, and I still have some bleeding. Ugh! Not going back. read more

Dr.Askari is an amazing dentist. Best dental implant doctor in NYC. Booking an appointment is very easy and simple. I initially got a consultation on what to expect with dental implant process. They did 3D 360 degree Xray, and provided me with full details on the procedure. The staff and doctors are very professional. As for the procedure it was a short 30 mins to get one implant plus bone graft on my lower jaw. It was painless, and quick. The beautiful Hudson view from the office accommodated by classical music helps a lot with getting your implant. After the procedure I took antibiotics only for three days, and didn't have a post pain. It has been 3 months so far and I don't even feel the implant being there. Overall great experience and amazing follow up by the staff. Highly recommended for people who are getting there first implant. read more

I was introduced to Dr. Askari by my dentist earlier this year. I was NOT happy to hear I needed an implant and was very nervous about having it done. I had a consultation with Dr. Askari at his Park Ave. office. The staff who greeted me saw how nervous I was (over stupid consultation!) and made me feel like family. I, like many others, HATE going to the dentist. I only go to the dentist every 6 months because I'm so afraid of having dental issues in the future and having to deal with the consequences. After meeting with me and taking x-rays, Dr. Askari explained the procedure and scheduled the procedure in his Brooklyn office. I don't remember her name, but his assistant was AWESOME! She told me I was going to love the Brooklyn office; that every room had a window overlooking the water. (I just smiled and nodded nervously). The day of the procedure could not have gone better. Dr. Askari made sure I was comfortable and numbed WELL. The entire thing took 20 minutes. His bed-side manner was more than I expected and although I never want to see him again...if I do wind up with dental problems in the future, it will be him I call. read more

Thank god I was late by 10 minutes because they had me wait an hour.... I could not get with the doctor's lack luster attitude. It was clean with a nice bathroom and the black girl in the front had a warm personality. Those are the only positives for me. when due to Covid-19 my longstanding periodontist moved into Manhattan I tried Dr. Askari because he's in Brooklyn. Although I was on time and had my x- rays sent I had to wait to see the doctor for over 45". The tiny waiting room is crowded and the dental chairs are practically in the tiny waiting room. If you don't get Covid you can pick up anything else. He seems to be overbooking. Dr. Askari put on his gloves and picked and peeked at my gums for literally 30 secs and prounounced me "OK". I was charged $75 for a" first visit" which I wasn't told about previously by the appointment sect'y. I will not return to this office. read more

Dr. Askari has done 2 implants, an extraction, and deep periodontal cleaning for me. I was pretty nervous about the extraction and implants, but in hindsight, there was no need. His work is outstanding. The dentist who placed the crowns, commented about what a good job was done on the implants. As painless as I could have hoped for. He has been super nice too. I initially came to Dr. Askari's Manhattan office after showing up for an appointment with a different periodontist who was supposed to accept my insurance, but wanted me to pay up-front first. I called the insurance company and they gave me some options close by. Dr. Askari saw me with only a half hour's notice. His staff is also very friendly. After my implants were completed, Dr. Askari also saved me when the dentist messed up the abutments. Again, he saw me with no appointment and very little advanced warning (although I do not recommend just dropping in.) I have only had great experiences with Dr. Askari (as great as dental work can be,) and my wife will be getting her implants from him too. Do not I repeat do not waste your time!!! I waited two hours to be seen by Dr. Desai. So many patients came and left after me. The front desk lady just kept rolling her eyes every time I asked how much longer. Dr. Desai did Periodontal surgery on me and sat down in a chair the WHOLE TIME! So unprofessional. Dentist worked on my mouth and two other people at the same time he would come to me and inject novacain leave come back and inject novacain he did this for about an hour. His assistant came in and. I told her that I know what he's doing and he wasn't gonna keep numbing my mouth just so he could work on other patients. So I'm sure she relayed message because when he finally came back he started to work on my mouth. Apparently he overbooks. I was warned not to go to him by co workers, but the female dentist was on maternity leave and I wanted to start while I'm home working remotely. wouldn't choose him if your thinking about going to this dental facility, he is cold and aloof and driven by greed. I've gave me flippers that were bent or crushed in. He never told me to take them out to clean them. I was told this when I went to another dentist to actually get prosthetic for implants. I have been a patient of Dr. Askari since 1992. I was first diagnosed with advanced periodontal disease at NYU. My case was unusual since I had perfect teeth but severe advanced periodontal disease. Over a period of months, Dr. Askari operated on all four quadrants of my mouth. I did not lose a single tooth. After eight separate surgeries and procedures Dr. Askari eliminated all of the disease. He prevented further bone loss by identifying any pockets before they became a problem and he stabilized the bone structure with grafts and preventative maintenance. Some 21 years later I am still his patient and I still have all of my teeth and have not had a single dental problem since I began seeing him. Not a single problem! If you want a highly skilled professional who is thorough and effective in preventing bone and tooth loss then you have found the right periodontist in Dr. Askari. As a person Dr. Askari is kind, gentle, and calm. People such as myself with advanced periodontal disease are often in denial about their condition and come to the surgeon with bleeding gums and fear. Dr. Askari saved my teeth. My dentist said I needed flap gum surgery and a bone graft. I have an extreme fear of needles and i have avoided dentists all my life (which is why I need the surgery). I have DC-37 insurance and it sucks. Most of the dentists in the network don't have any reviews online. I don't make a move without getting all the facts, especially when it comes to dentists. Anyway, he had pretty good reviews, accepted my insurance and had nitrous gas. Those were my 3 requirements. I met with him for a consultation and he seemed like a pretty laid back guy. Although I thought a bit cold at first. My dentist usually babies me. Well after the consultation I decided to go with him. On the day of the surgery he was very friendly and seemed a lot warmer. He made me feel at ease and gave me all the time I needed to settle in and get comfortable. We chatted for a bit and I was ready. He put the nitrous gas on and boy did it work fast! In about 2 minutes I was feeling elated and quite content. He asked if I was ready and got to work. I was shaking of fear and at the thought of the first injection but he was very gentle and distracted me with the suction thing right before each injection. After I was all numb, I felt so good I asked him to take the gas off. The whole thing took about an hour and a half. It was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. I made my first appt. 2 months ago and showed up on time no problems. They did a panoramic x ray of my entire mouth. The office was clean and the staff seemed ok including the Dentist Dr. Askari. They gave me an appt for 5/31 which was 2 months later. I rec'd a message on my answering machine on 5/27 canceling the appt (even though they had my cellphone #) the message informed me that because I did not provide the SS# on their medical form and therefore DC37 will not accept any forms from the Dental Office. That's a bold lie!!! I called DC 37 prior to calling the Dental Office to confirm and they do not require SS# only ID#. I called the Dental Practice and spoke to a Michele who completely lied and stated that DC 37 will not accept form without SS#, again not true! Then she told me that my DC 37 card was not on file which wasn't my fault since I had given them my DC 37 ID # months before. I told her I can fax it over and before I got the fax # she hung up on me. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF THIS IS THE WAY YOU ARE TREATED BEFORE TREATMENT CAN YOU IMAGINE WHEN YOU HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM that requires their help. Don't go there! DC 37 Members stay away from this Dental Practice. I will also give a formal complaint to DC37 and to the Doctor!!! read more
