I do not recommend going to this dentist. I had a cavity filled. It was done incorrectly. They took x-rays twice and gave me glowing affirmations everything was fine. Even though I said there was pain, a bad odor coming from the tooth and it hurt significantly when I flossed. I am now going to a more competent dentist. read more

I just had the first half of a root canal performed today (it's going to happen in 2 visits). I've only had Dr. Izabella Belenkiy, but her caring demeanor is what makes me keep coming back here, even though I hate dentists. My mouth is SUPER-SENSITIVE, and I had some pretty deep cavities. but whenever you tell her to stop, she will. One of my cavities was so deep that the first time I went in, they couldn't do the procedure because I wouldn't allow her to get into the tooth there was so much sensitivity. She aborted that procedure (left me with a temporary filling), and the next time, she said "OK, we're going to try this differently this time since you're so sensitive" and the procedure was completed without pain of any kind during or after. Today, she started a root canal, which will be completed next time. Again, there was some extreme sensitivity, but this time she was like "I'm going to give you a few minutes, that's the only way we're going to get this done". Whatever she did before stepping out of the room for about 10 minutes helped immensely! Afterwards, she asked if there was any pain while she tried some things, when I said no, she got right to work. Again, aside from the initial thinking she was trying to kill me, no pain during or after. :) What got me started on this whole course of treatment was a dental emergency - I had SEVERE pain in a tooth (turned out that a wisdom tooth needed to be extracted, and she needed to send me elsewhere to have that done). She saw me, a patient that she had never seen before, on an hour's notice and referred me to an oral surgeon based on the X-rays that she took. Great customer service! Preface: Finest Dental Care is the office of Sergey Belenkiy and Izabella Belenkiy. There are separate Yelp pages for each of them, but I wanted to comment on the office as a whole. I have dental insurance with Aetna DMO which requires me to choose a Primary Care Dentist (PCD), so based on some internet research I chose Finest Dental Care. After all the insurance bureaucracy was taken care of, I made an appointment and got Izabella. She was very good: friendly and professional. She sat down with me at the beginning and asked me some questions, then came back after my X-rays and cleaning to give my mouth a very thorough examination. I appreciated that she didn't try to upsell me on any special procedures like whitening or veneers. I didn't have any problems, so I can't comment on the quality of any serious procedures. The appointment overall was fast and efficient. They took more X-rays than other dentists I've had and the hygienists did a decent job cleaning my teeth. My only complaint about the cleaning was that they used the rotary tool + paste polish method rather than the newer prophy-jet spray method, which I prefer. The waiting room was pretty depressing, but the dental exam rooms themselves were fine. Overall, it's not a cutting edge spa-like environment, just basic, efficient dental care. read more

I wish I hadn't relied on yelp reviews before listing this place as my primary dental provider. I had to wait almost two months to show up on their roster (dental insurance only lasts for 7 months), and once I did show up, they informed me that the dental hygenist only comes in once a week, a day which happens to be really inconvenient for me, and that they wouldn't be able to make an appointment for me for another month. Also, serious difficulties understanding the accent of the receptionist on multiple occasions. I'm currently trying to get a refund on my dental insurance so I can just do a visit elsewhere for out of pocket. What a waste. read more

I saw Dr. Izabella Belenkiy for a crown. She was kind, patient, attentive, gentle, meticulous, and knowledgeable. She carefully reviewed all my options with me. I never waited more than 15 minutes for my appointment to start (and the office calls and texts if your doctor is running late). I have no insurance and I feel she was very fair with pricing. I stupidly have gone to other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan to see mediocre dentists when I had an exceptional one within 5 minutes walking distance from my apartment. I will definitely see Dr. Belenkiy again for annuals and unforeseen problems. And I would absolutely recommend her to friends and family. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience at Finest Dental Care. Dr. Sergey Belenkiy was nice enough and his receptionist is very sweet. But the quality of service I received is sub-par at best. I had a cleaning and a filling done at their office earlier this year. The cleaning went fine, but replacing a twelve year old filling that had worn down proved to be a complete disaster. To make a long and painful story short, in an effort to redo my filling Dr. Belenkiy drilled way too deep, exposed a nerve, and placed a new filling right on top of it. After the filling, I couldn't put any pressure on the tooth he had filled, so I went back to him a couple weeks later complaining of pain. During that visit he took X-rays and said that it all looked fine. I told him that he must've hit a nerve because I shouldn't be feeling this much pain, to which he defensively retorted "if I had hit a nerve, I would've seen it during the procedure." Then he gave me some sensodyne and a referral to get a root canal, "just in case the sensodyne didn't work." I didn't use his referral, but instead went to another, better dentist to get a second opinion. My new dentist took some X-rays to see what was going on and confirmed that the filling Dr. Belenkiy had done was sitting directly on top of my nerve. After removing the filling, my new dentist saw that the nerve was irritated and inflamed, so I did end up having to get a root canal. I'm really angry that I wasted so much time and money at Finest Dental Care. Dr. Belnkiy wasn't overtly mean or jerky, but he seemed too proud to admit he had made a mistake and clearly took advantage of my inability to read X-rays. Totally unethical. read more

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Izabella Belenkiy. I have been a patient here for about 4 years. I was in the middle of an insurance lapse and of course had a tooth that started to give me intense pain overnight. Dr. Belenkiy had me come in immediately and took care of the problem tooth over several days. She called me almost daily to make sure I was not in anymore pain and treated me with a genuine kindness that is too often hard to come by in the medical industry. Unfortunately this review is only based off of the customer service I was given when I called this dentist office ... fortunately not that of the dentist themselves.. I called this office to make an appt & they where much more concerned with verifying my insurance rather than asking me my needs.. I provided them with such & was told I would get a call back when all was ok to schedule... I never got a call back..I called them myself & they where not accommodating at all... the next available evening appt was not till May & this was all after I was told to switch my dentist & make sure this was my new provider! One time I was out of town and needed a refill on a prescription for canker sore medicine; I called Dr. Belenkey and he was extremely helpful and called my prescription into an out-of-state pharmacy right away. I've been seeing Dr. Izabella Belenkiy for a few years and am very happy with the quality of care I've received from her. Prior to seeing her, I actually didn't see a dentist for 5 years, and my anxiety about going to the dentist played a pretty big role in that. So basically I'm a huge baby. I've had to get some kind of painful procedures done (seriously, kids, don't go 5 years without seeing a dentist and while you're at it don't wait till your late 20's to start flossing), and she is just so, so nice and gentle about everything. read more

I have only had positive experiences with Dr. Sergei Belenkiy. He is friendly, honest and very accomodating. When I first started going to his practice I did not have any dental insurance and needed a lot of work. He broke up my work into multiple visits and allowed me to pay through installments. He also discused every option with me so I could choose less expensive materials for fillings, etc. I look forward to my two cleanings a year because I enjoy talking to Dr. Belenkiy and the procedure is always quick and efficient. I called the office in November during enrollment and they insisted were accepting new patients, so I changed my insurance for them. In December they told me to wait until January to make an appointment, so in the meantime I had my insurance company put me on their roster of patients. First day of January they told me they were not accepting new patients, yelled at the insurance agent when they called to tell them they had to see me, refused to accept the fax from the insurance company showing I was already on their roster, and closed their phone and pretended the office was closed. If you want honesty and professionalism from your health professionals, who won't breach contract to deny you coverage, from the advice of both myself and a major health insurer - look elsewhere! read more

I have been going to Dr. Belenkiy since I was in my teenage years. He also does a fine job with cleaning my teeth. Not to mention my whole family receives services from him. On year I had serious pains and he suggested I get my wisdom tooth pulled ASAP (the source of my pain). I scheduled an appointment with them 2 wks later. I arrived there and the office was packed. I waited over 3 hours and was never called. I left miserably. My follow up appointment with Dr. B I told him about the situation and he literally same day called the dentist I visited, scheduled my appointment and had me in there within that week. Dr. Sergey is a skilled dentist, but I am not happy about he push me having unnecessary work done and spend extra $400 and the time just so he can make more money. I know the work he did on my teeth was unnecessary, because I went to see other dentists and they all said the same thing. I really have problem with a Dr. who is lack of professional ethics. The receptionist does not seem to get it that a dental patient is everything to their practice. Leaving a new patient for an hour and a half and not apologizing does not make a good impression. Not following up on the next step in a long dental procedure for six weeks makes for lousy business practice. Not returning calls and messages or callbacks as matter of course makes for a bad reputation. I am taking the 9K this costs somewhere else. Good riddance! read more

i came in here after about three years of not going to the dentist. Dr. B took xrays and looked at my mouth and told me i likely needed three root canals on three old fillings. this was horrible news obviously, for me, for two reasons. no dental insurance/finances and the horror of a root canal. well now all three are done, and the only bad part was the money. the root canals were nothing. Dr B and his wife are extremely meticulous and super fast at the same time and the way they talk to you during just makes you feel like youre hanging out while theyre making sure you have the healthiest possible situation in your mouth. its a bit of a lengthy procedure but i didnt feel a thing all three times, dont let those two words scare you if you ever have to get one done. if youre scared of needles then maybe the numbing part will bother you but that barely hurts for half a second and is totally worth it. they treat you really well, everyones extremely kind and the rooms have windows so youre not staring at some stupid painting. his cleaning doesnt hurt at all either. if youre looking for pain free this is the place to go. just get some insurance first read more

I went to Dr. Belenkiy a few years ago and I was told that I had four cavities that needed to be filled. That was kind of shocking to me, because I've only had a few cavities in my life, and I found it hard to believe that I had so many. My dental insurance isn't great, so I would have had to pay for the fillings out of pocket. I decided to go to another dentist to see if they said I had any cavities -- and, four years later, my new dentist has still NEVER said anything to me about these so-called cavities. Interesting! My husband stupidly kept going to this dentist and we recently had to pay a HUGE bill for a service I'm not even sure he needed. We're done with this place. read more

I have been going to Finest Dental Care since 2016. The first time I went, I had a PPO dental plan through my employer. My employer changed my insurance plan to a DMO which as it turns out Finest Dental Care does not accept. I had three more subsequent appointments with this dentist (Nov of 2016, May of 2017, and Nov of 2017) all of which as it turns out, insurance won't cover. I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that my insurance would cover care so the first visit would be my fault but after that, the dentist office should have let me know that I needed to pay out of pocket for further care without a PPO. They notified me just last week (Aug of 2018) about a total of $544 that I owe them. According to both my old providers, Aetna and Cigna, it takes 10 business days to process a claim. Not nearly two YEARS. The fact that they let me keep coming back and now expect me to pay that $544 is absolute negligence and borders on a scam. They also claim that I did not present my insurance cards after my very first visit which is an outright lie. I always always always have my insurance cards on me. I was taught that from a young age. You ALWAYS carry your insurance cards with you. I will not be returning to this dentist and will be taking any and all action I can to fight these bills. So shady. So unprofessional.
