Everyone in this office goes above and beyond. They didn't shame me for not going to the dentist for years and they wear masks for me and filter the air (Dr Huang is especially cautious and masks in daily life too, but Dr Dressel also always wears a mask in the treatment room and will have the whole office mask if you request in advance). People are so petrified to go to the dentist and I think this practice tries to be compassionate so people come in for all their check-ups without worrying so much. They even coordinated with my old dentist in Texas and ensured I got replacement retainers now that I live in Brooklyn without charging me a thing. They just said "That's what we're here for!" I know, reviewing a dentist seems kind of odd--you'd figure someone would only bother if something bad enough happened they wanted to sue. But I'm not shocked i came here and found more reviews than some restaurants have at such a high avg. Such is the ridiculous quality of care here--they go the extra yard for you, and you just want to reciprocate. I've had only one check up here (referred by my girlfriend, a longtime satisfied patient). it was simple, thorough, straightforward--no cavities or anything, so no major work. But the level of attention and smoothness of whole experience what we all think every medical appointment experience should be like, but unfortunately rarely is. Having my records transferred from previous dentist took one email... no follow-up, no five phone calls for confirmation, no lack of follow up... just made the request and they confirmed almost immediately. For my appointment, I met two separate techs who introduced themselves, explained everything (first visit, extra x-rays), asked questions and listened. Apologized several times that dentist was away and that they would fill him in. For follow up I had an email exchange from Dr. Dressel, apologizing for absence, giving his impression of x-rays and asking if any concerns on my end. We exchanged several emails... I was just flabbergasted--I don't remember the last time i received a non-form email from an actual doctor or dentist before. Tl;dr--come here -- you'll receive far better care and more attention from a doctor and staff than I imagine you are accustomed to. read more

This place is so great. Dr. Dressel is an exceptional dentist. I visited his practice after a truly horrific experience at another dentist who did unnecessary work for profit. Everyone at South Brooklyn Dentist was kind, friendly, welcoming, and professional. Dr. Dressel took one look at my mouth and diagnosed that I had a dead tooth in the front of my mouth (likely due to a mugging a decade ago -- no dentist had ever noticed it before, despite regular dental care for 10 years). He fixed all the issues from the shoddy dentist and took such good care of me. Everyone in his office is top notch (I've now had two root canals with Dr. Kerpel, the on-staff endodontist, and she is also a total pro). It's just been such a positive experience, especially after having such an upsetting one. Dr. Dressel is trustworthy, kind, and excellent. And his whole staff is so welcoming and lovely. So grateful to have such a clean, professional dental office in the neighborhood. They took every precaution to make sure I felt safe and secure. (They even have plastic sheeting up in the doorways of each exam room!) The hygienist was gentle and thorough (and SUPER-understanding about how much of a baby I am when getting X-rays)! Dr. Dressel found a couple of teeth that needed attention, but gave me several options for how to handle them so that I could chose my own route of care, which I really appreciated. 1.16.2019 As always, Dr D remains true to form. One of my very old cemented crowns over an implant chipped, and rather than jumping to a new blasting this off and going down the road of a new crown/abutment, he meticulously smoothed out the one in place. It feels like new, and with any luck this will hold up for years to come. 5/5/2017 My case was so long and so difficult and required several different specialists that it is quite difficult to go into all the details. Having had my share of successful surgical procedures, quick recoveries, and no problems, including a sinus lift and extractions with implants, there was certainly no reason to suspect that anything would go amiss when I was unfortunately faced with implants to replace upper front teeth. Everything was smooth sailing until it came time for the crowns to be placed on the implants. I was unable to tolerate the crowns. Over the course of 2 years, and after seeking opinions from various specialists, we were finally able to modify the fit of the crowns so I was able to tolerate 5 out of 6 of them. As I write this, I am still having trouble with 1 crown, but am using a topical oral medication that alleviates the discomfort that I continue to have. What Dr Jeff did from the outset, was promise that he would see me through to the end of this case, and that he absolutely would not give up on me. He remains true to his word as I continue to struggle with the one last crown that is still temporarily screwed in awaiting a time when I can hopefully have it permanently screwed in. I do believe that MOST dentists would not have done this, and certainly would not have made themselves available to me as often as I needed. If you are looking for a new dentist, or just want a new dentist that offers more than just routine dentistry, Dr Jeff should be your first and last stop. He also has an excellent staff, complete with in-house specialists. On a scale of 1-100% - and 100 being the best possible score, Dr Jeff gets a resounding 200%. read more

I've been going to Dr. Dressel for years now, and I am so happy I've found such a great dentist who also has such a great office staff. As long as I live in Brooklyn, I'll be coming to see Dr. Dressel. I've needed extensive dental work over the years and couldn't be happier with the care and quality I've received. I was happy with the service but not with billing transparency. It you don't have Delta dental, be prepared to pay overpriced service. On the phone I asked if they accept my insurance and they said they do. After the service was done I was told that I have to pay the difference between the fee schedule and their price. So, instead of insurance paying 100% for preventive service I paid more than 50%. The administration should better inform me about billing in advance. read more

Dr. Dressel is the bomb! I just had a root canal done today and after hearing so many horror stories about what root canals were like I was a little worried. All of those worries were for not as I felt absolutely no pain whatsoever during the entire procedure. The short of it? Most caring, talented, gentle staff. Massage chair during teeth cleaning. Great, clean, modern office. The best. The long of it: I've had a plethora of mouth surgeries in the past, so the dentist is quite possibly the most terrifying place on the planet for me. The first time I went to Doctor Dressel, I sat in the dentist chair and started crying before anyone even walked in the room. I was immediately so comforted by the entire staff, and they checked on me throughout my entire teeth cleaning, making sure I felt as comfortable as possible. One generally thinks that a trip to the dentist is a miserable experience, however, Dr. Dressel's office makes it as painless as possible. Dare I even say, an enjoyable experience? What? A good time at the dentist? The office staff are pleasant and very efficient- between my husband and myself, we have never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes for appointments. The hygienists are very professional and thorough. On my last routine cleaning, given I have some gum recession/areas of sensitivity, the hygienist started by adding a topical anesthetic in order for me to have no pain during my cleaning(MUCH appreciated). I also must add that the exam chairs are absurdly comfortable and massage you while you're having your teeth cleaned. Dr. D RULES!!! From the moment you enter his charming office you feel comfortable. His office manager Natalia is so helpful, kind patient and a beautiful young lady. They play the best music and have all the latest magazines on hand to read. Dr. Dressel really cares about your teeth and is not out to get you for your insurance. His E4D crown machine has to be the greatest thing I have ever seen in a dental office. He makes all of his patients feel at ease. His assistant Larissa is totally cool too! I cannot recommend Dr. Dressel highly enough. He is fantastic at what he does, and more than that, is an honest, competent, and personable man. His staff is marvelous-- attentive and kind. What a breath of fresh air in a city like New York! The hygienist (Ella, I believe) is really thorough and gentle, and the ladies at the front desk are always happy and helpful. The office itself is clean and spacious. What's best is that Dr. Dressel takes the time to explain procedures to you and won't recommend pricey treatments if he thinks there's an alternative. South Brooklyn Dentist is amazing! I have been a patient since 2016. I'm diabetic so good dental care is important. I have had it all- regular cleanings, root canals, deep cleanings, crowns and fillings. They do great work! Dr. Dressel is thorough and informative. Dr. Carpel makes injections painless! Their overall service has been perfect. Staff here are very respectful, easy to approach and communicate with. Awful experience from the beginning. Unprofessional front desk staff repeatedly got my name wrong. I asked multiple times if my xrays were covered. "Yes, at 100%". Guess who got charged $100 at the end of the appt? I have Delta Dental and I have never paid for a teeth cleaning. Ever. Or xrays. Nothing was out of the norm during my cleaning, no extra services rendered. They are crooks. I left Dr. Dressel after a couple of years of being his patient. I'll admit that the office is clean and modern, but I've taken care of my teeth all my life and as a result have had a variety of dentists, here and abroad, and can say unequivocally that the dental care I received at Dressel's office was below average. His main concern seemed to be speed and profit rather than quality of patient care. He did a crown for me that never looked right and has bothered me on and off since he put it in. The cleanings were mediocre because the hygienists did not take long enough. Several times I had to dispute the bill and in every case I was in the right. I am now a patient of Dr Rosenkranz in Park Slope and am much happier with his office, the staff, the work they do and Dr Rosenkranz' professional style which is friendly, relaxed and positive. Receptionist was very rude. I called to ask if they did root canal treatments and how much approximately it would cost. She said they don't disclose their prices over the phone and that I had to go to the clinic to have my tooth examined (which I totally understand is the proper procedure). I then asked if there was a price range that I could take reference to, because obviously I don't want to have my tooth examined and then realise it's too expensive for me to handle. ONLY THEN she said "we don't do root canal" and hung up on me. I haven't had any experience with the doctors yet, but the receptionist already succeeded in putting me off. After avoiding the dentist like the plague for years, I broke a tooth and had another that might have actually had the plague. I contacted Dr. Dressel's office after being HIGHLY recommended by a friend and they adjusted their schedule to see me the next day. From the moment you see the front door of their office it is a dream. The building is beautiful on a peaceful street in carroll gardens. You walk in and the receptionists are all patient, helpful and actually take time with you instead of shoving forms in your face like most offices. Not only did Dr. Dressel and Dr. Gardner (with minimal pain) fix all of my dental problems, they always took the time to explain every procedure, and were always only a phone call or email away if I had any questions. I'm a dental-phobe pure and simple. Dr. Dressel was stellar in re-acclimating me to the world of dentistry. I went to see him a few years back and had to undergo major procedures...removal of old implants, and be fitted for a bridge, along with ongoing scalings. Lots of injections, which I recoil in horror from. Dr. Dressel has a wonderful technique and sense of humanity. He took his time with the injections and offered an atmosphere of levity and comfort. The end result was beautiful. The bridge looks completely natural and feels great. Today I had to make an emergency appointment and received a call back within 30 minutes of my call, to make an appointment for today. The anxiety and trepidation I would generally feel having to go in for a dental appointment is largely mitigated knowing that I'll be in the hands of a highly skilled and caring doctor. A few months after I moved to New York I found myself needing a dentist STAT. Most of my friends in the area still saw their dentists at home (i.e. not in the city) and I was at a loss as to how to find a good one in the area... and I was forced to turn to the Internet. I was highly skeptical about using this method to find someone that would eventually be putting sharp objects in my mouth. I took a chance with Dr. Dressel, and I absolutely love him. I've never met a person that actually likes going to the dentist, but everything about this dental practice makes the experience utterly painless. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the hygienists are efficient and really fast, and Dr. Dressel is absolutely great at what he does. They are always right on time (I've never waited more than 5 minutes past my appointment time), and they really get you in and out. In addition, they are very willing to work with you regarding appointment times, insurance, etc. in a way that (in my experience) is atypical in the medical world.
