They're open late, but I've bought three items here and two have broken. First, I had the large, deluxe model pipe, around $30. Sweet lolly, that pipe was jolly -- till it popped when I dropped it. What a folly. Yellow and blue, eyes of blue, and oh, what that blue-yellow could do. OK, yes, I did drop it, but only because glass is slippery and I had a chronic sweaty hand, and only a couple inches onto a very soft surface. Pop! It smashed into about 40,000 pieces. I didn't even know pipes had 40,000 pieces to them. This one maybe had 43,000. Just guessing. The next one, around $16, was a small model which, to my untrained eyes, looked every bit as good as an actual pipe that worked and did not break into thousands of pieces if dropped from a, maybe, three-inch height. No more than that. But that was my next mistake, because this model was even harder to grip. It fell onto the very same soft, moldy, ancient desk held together mostly by crumbling moth carcasses and dried ramen. Yet the fact remains, it still broke. It wanted to break. It was manufactured at the Prebroken Pipe Factory in Pipebroken, New Jersey. Pipe three was the cheapest available model, like $12, but has lasted longer than the other two combined, even though it's the lowest quality on the market. However, at these prices per square-pipe-inch, I'm sticking with my Ali Baba Pipesqueak 700 until I die or it breaks, whichever comes first. read more

The name alone here grants them at least 3 stars. Popped in Saturday night for my fake Hookah fix (don't ask why, it's an oral fixation thing). Pretty great selection for such a random product, so I was very happy. Also looked like they had just about anything else you could want from a smoke shop. Unfortunately I had no use for most of the stuff here, but it's always fun to peruse the selection. The owner (I'm assuming that's who helped me) was also really friendly and helped me pick out the best flavors. Will definitely be back to replenish in a few weeks! read more

Standard smoke shop with a nice selection pipes and smoking accessories. Large TV and lounge area gives it a chill vibe. I bought a vape here and had some trouble with the heating element, and came back to return it about 15 minutes after I bought it. The owner was a little hesitant to let me return it, and tried instead to get me to exchange for a more expensive vaporizer model. Eventually he refunded my money, but it was a last resort. I can't really knock the establishment for selling a faulty device, because he's just a reseller. The staff was friendly and helpful, so I'll come back for accessories and gifts, but will probably buy my next expensive vape from a bigger store with a clear return/exchange policy. read more

Nice, convenient head shop here in the heart of North Beach. I stopped in this afternoon, the guy working there was nice and quick to help. Prices were a bit steep but what can you do when you need quick supplies. All in all, great selection, OK prices. If you need it right now, don't hesitate to stop in. You can get everything from papers on up to large glass bongs --great selection- They have a huge wall of Cigars too. The Couple that Own the place are always very friendly... The fact that there are not set prices on every thing should not alarm you. I've bought several pieces here over the past few years including a Gas Mask Bong that they gave me a huge discount on. If your in the neighborhood and forgot your piece at home ---this is a great place to find an inexpensive alternative. read more

I'm not a big smoker nor have I ever been a smoker but occasionally I'll have a cigarette on the weekends when I'm having drinks with friends. I wanted something tastier and less mainstream than your typical Camel, Malboro, Newport, etc. I remembered passing by Ali Baba Smoke Shop so I decided to check them out and see what they had. A huge selection of cigarette brands that I had never seen before. I asked the employee for a little advise on brands, tastes, quality and bang for your buck. He recommended a few different packs and helped me pick out one in particular. I tried them out last weekend and they were pretty damn tasty. A more unique look than normal cigarettes and better taste/smell. I'll take that. I'm going to go back in next week when this pack runs out and try one of the other packs he recommended so stay tuned. read more

I work in the area. I bought a tiny bubbler and a one hitter after work. Good value for both. The bubbler broke right away. I asked for a refund and the guy refused. It was not even used. He called me ouy for asking for a refund. Paid $8 for a replacement for what I just bought. They are thieves!!! Go anywhere else in north beach. read more

Mohamed gave amazing customer service. I live in Arizona and had been looking for something in particular for my husband. Distance did not kill the deal! Mohamed had me send a check and he PROMPTLY sent me my item. He was so fairly priced and like I said the customer service was 100%. He even sent me text photos of the item to make sure it was what I wanted as well as he kept me informed as to when my check arrived and promptly sent it out with a tracking number. I have told my friends about Ali Baba and they love it just as much as I do. It's a great place to go for hookah, whether you need your own supplies (they have it all) or you want to spend some time in the hookah lounge set up in the shop. I like the two guys that work there.
