I was only the only customer at the bar and the bartender served me my drink and then went to the far end of the bar to look at her phone. I waited a while and then asked her some questions about the area and she gave me quick answers, and went back to scrolling on her phone. The place seems really cool, but that kind of service wasnt.

It was economical, too, so we had quality food while spending a reasonable amount of money. I had the catfish BLT, which was a simple catfish burger with the most basic ingredients. Yet the catfish itself was so tasty that I didn't even need ketchup or mayo for the burger. It was so seasoned that it definitely made the burger an enjoyable experience. My partner had the kingfish platter which was essentially catfish as well. But then there was a small cup of coleslaw that we both thought was the best we've had, mainly because they didn't use mayo but some kind of vinegar to supplement the taste. And then my partner had the deep fried pecan pie and I had a taste of it. Even though I am not even the biggest fan of pecan pie, I really enjoyed that one and I think it was because the deep fried aspect along with whipped cream complemented the gelatinous material in pecan pies (don't know how to call it). There was music 365 days a week in the club, and particularly we were there during the annual Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival, so it was extra special. There were visitors all over the world attending the festival and many great bands played in the club. The amount of mess on the walls in the club speaks to the historically and culturally rich aspect of this club and of this town. Definitely a 5 star experience.

Pls consider handicap]. Made up some pricing(?) Cloth seats dirty, spilled food caked-in -looked for others to swap, same. Others said food was great, if you have no diet restrictions, you'd be okay.

The Lunch Basket recently opened and I couldn't wait to try it out. Upon arriving, we grabbed a…read moretray, plate, silverware and proceeded down the line. There was mass confusion. We were responsible for serving ourselves and there was no one to direct us. It is not a buffet, so we had no idea how much food we were allowed to put on our plates. For either $10 or $12 (depending on the meat), you get a meat, 2 sides, a bread item, drink and dessert. Several items were completely out. A guy finally came to refill the fried fish and I had to ask him how many pieces we were supposed to get. If it wasn't for the fish, I probably would have left because none of the other meat items looked appealing. The fish was large and nicely seasoned. I opted for the sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese. The sweet potatoes were good and macaroni tasted like a typical boxed recipe. We also had a choice between a roll or cornbread. The rolls were hard and not that great. I chose a bottled diet coke, because the fountain drinks were colorful and sweet looking, and I wasn't interested in drinking so much sugar. The desserts on the line didn't look appealing, but one of the staff told us that we could choose from various cakes as we got closer to the check out. What I saw next was inexplainable! I looked at the area with the cakes and it was in complete disarray (look at my pictures). There was a guy cutting store bought cakes and putting them in individual containers. The area was messy and the entire setup was unprofessional. While we were eating, I looked over to the food line and a guy was stirring food with one hand and talking on his cellphone with the other. Again, very unprofessional and unsanitary. One of the waitresses was also constantly drinking in front of the drink machines. The only plus worth mentioning is that the restaurant itself is nicely decorated. This place has a long way to go, so I'm not certain I'll be returning.
