I've been going to Alicia since she had her own room in the little shop in Downey by 2nd St. (since 2016) For all of you who've never been waxed, let me tell you, Alicia is wonderful. She's the first person I went to and she does a wonderful job at making the entire process as painless as it can be. She also talks to you which is a lovely distraction! Always a great experience with Alicia! She is fast to respond and easy to set up appointment. I go to her for for a Brazilian wax and although is inevitable to avoid pain she still makes it comfortable and not so painful.... I recommend taking a Tylenol before if you have very low pain tolerance but not mandatory of course. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

I was going to Alicia's consistently for a few months and was having an ok experience. I've never had my bikini line or underarms waxed before so I wasn't sure how hot the wax should feel, but in my latest visit in May the wax felt too too hot. I let Alicia know and she said, it's wax it's supposed to be hot. Like of course thank you my little brain thought it was supposed to be frozen, no, there's a reason I brought it up don't you think? She gave me her response with a little bit of attitude which turned me off so I didn't ask any further questions since she's the professional and knows better than me. The bikini wax felt fine, but she did ALMOST give me a Brazilian. I stopped here as soon as I noticed, but she wanted to continue but I said no. My body my choice, I only want bikini. The under arms had the most horrible pain. I even told her that I didn't remember the pain being that bad before. After she finished I wasn't able to look at my underarms since there was no mirror and she had her next appointment already waiting so I went home. As soon as I went home I checked in the mirror and oh my god, my SKIN was GONE. She didn't tell me anything, just left me like that. Usually skins rips if your using a product that thins your skin but I only use organic deodorant. It's been 5 months since then and these burns have left me scarred. They also have NOT fully healed so they burn whenever I apply anything to them. My doctor advised me to wait for it fully heal and close but it's been MONTHS. I will never be going back to this place as she has left me scarred when I originally had nice white pits that were just a bit hairy. I can't even left my arms in public since they look so gross. This was my first time getting a Brazilian wax! I've been wanting to go for a while, but kept putting it off after continuously reading other peoples' waxing horror stories! I told Alicia it was my first time getting waxed and she walked me through everything. During my appointment she took her time and kept a conversation going with me to ease my mind. Let's start off by saying I don't know how this lady has such great reviews. I went here once and I would never go again!! First of all this lady does gossip a lot about her clients, how hairy they are, heavy and how one of them broke her bed. I found that very unprofessional but what did it for me is that she waxes with BARE HANDS! One of the most unsanitary, unsafe and uncomfortable things ever !!! Alicia is amazing! This was only my second time getting a Brazilian wax, but it was essentially just like it being my first. The last waxing session I had was months ago at European wax center. At EWC, they were fast with the waxing, but it did hurt a lot--as I anticipated. The wax they use is the hard wax and Alicia uses cloth strips, which isn't as painful (and it's even more thorough, as I've noticed). It had been months since my last appointment due to COVID-19, but I'm still determined to maintain waxing regularly despite the pain from my very first experience. To be honest, I was a little nervous about visiting a salon right now, but Alicia is very cautious about practicing as much social distancing as possible. This means her making sure it is just herself and the client in the space, to limit contact with other people. No support group of friends or kids in the waiting room. She made sure to remind me to bring my mask/face covering for my appointment. I appreciate seeing business owner taking those precautions and measures, it not only speaks volumes about how they take care of themselves but also how they really value their customers. Desperately needed a Brazilian wax and my usual place was closed. Called Alicia's to ask if they were open and there was no answer, but she texted me later and I was able to set up an appointment. I've been getting Brazilians for almost 2 years now, so I'm used to the "pain" -- No beauty without pain right? The chain establishment I used to go to uses hard wax and even my touch ups were very painful. However, my experience at Alicia's was SPLENDID! She uses strip/cloth wax. I went to Alicia in April this year. I was hesitant to write this review because I'm sure she's a great lady! However my experience with her services were not good in my opinion. I had done waxing once before seeing her and it was YEARS ago. Anyway when I got there, I felt that she automatically assumed that I knew what to do (take off my underpants & lay on the bed) should give a little briefing at least to your new clients. Secondly, the whole thing felt rushed (this was a 6 pm app). Thirdly, I had asked if I could get other areas of my body waxed (which I initially requested prior to our app) and she seemed so annoyed when I told her. She did make effort to converse which was probably the only thing that I appreciated since it was so painful and to eliminate awkwardness. What a savior!! With all this covid stuff closing businesses down, it had been far too long since my last wax. I finally couldn't stand it anymore!! So I searched Yelp for somewhere I could get it done. Alicia had an appointment available for me the very next day!! She was super punctual and only had one customer in the business at a time. I got there as soon as her last appointment left and I saw her sanitize everything and even use aerosol spray for the room. Alicia was very quick, professional, and paid attention to detail. Definitely one of the smoothest Brazilians I've ever had done!! The usual amount of pain, but she even trimmed my hair before starting since it had been so long since my last wax. I would definitely recommend going to her!! She only takes cash payments and it's $50 for a full Brazilian wax. The complex is a bit grungy, but her unit is immaculate! Tylenol or Ibuprofen about 30 minutes before going will help you with the pain, it'll hurt more if you don't... But either way, pain is beauty girlfriend, we gotta suck it up! If I can do it, YOU can do it :) She will use tweezers for lil tiny hairs that were left behind, which will hurt a bit, and alcohol at the end, and that will sting! She gives you a magazine to fan yourself so that the alcohol dries faster n doesn't sting so much. Overall it wasn't that bad! Trust me, it's SOO worth it!!! I scheduled my next appointment as soon as we were done, then hugged her and tipped her because she was so amazing. I came here for my first brazilian wax on June 26th. I was really nervous about the pain, but after reading all the excellent reviews this place, I decided to get a wax. I called the number, and I was lucky that there was an opening for an appointment the same day, later that afternoon. Parking lot is spacious, and the location is the second floor of the building. I came into the waiting area which was nicely decorated and I waited about 10 minutes. From then, Alicia let me come into the room, and she gave me some privacy to get undressed and onto the table. I laid down, and she came in, and the process began. It wasn't as much a pain, but rather a short discomfort. Alicia has a really light and experienced method, so I would definitely like to credit the great experience to her skills! She was funny, and conversed with me throughout the 15 minute process. That definitely helped with the experience. This was my first time, so I was super nervous, but it was the same experience as everyone said in their review, it was short and the discomfort was defiantly manageable. I came to this spot for a Brazilian yesterday. I get really nervous and my anxiety levels are up when I change something, especially if someone is up close in person with your privates. But right when she got started I felt comfortable, she's sooo nice and funny. The best part is she actually knows was she is doing and she CARES. My hairs were very long so I made her work, but she took her time and made it happen. Everyone knows waxing hurts, every time I get it done and the pull the strip, I feel like my body automatically wants to kick them, so I have to control my body a lot.
