Dr. Patel is an Angel of mercy. I managed to break my tooth very badly right before July 4th weekend. My regular dentist was on a well-earned vacation. But I didn't want to wait almost 5 days to see him. I was sure I was going to spend all day calling dentists just to get somebody to see me before then just to give me a preview and maybe a temporary solution. I called Dr. Patel and BOOM! I had an appointment for 7:30 am on Saturday. He took x rays and showed me the results and gave me the prognosis on my tooth. He also called in a prescription for an antibiotic to tide me over. He was a sweetheart and his dental assistant was enthusiastic. Hooray for both of them! It was great to find out what I was dealing with and to feel I was in good hands. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Patel for a few years and have always found him to be thorough. He's a nice guy and takes the time to explain what's going on. Cindy is always really nice as well. Had an amazing experience at this location. Doctor Hamilton Le assisted us on an emergency tooth extraction with a non staff periodontist. Been to a lot of medical professionals in my life and never experienced the amount of care we received from this office. We will be making everyone here our family Dentist for now on. New ownership came about in the later part of 2011 and the new Dentist is top notch. Dr. Patel does a great job of explaining everything that will happen during your visit and most noticeably, he's invested quite a bit in upgrading the equipment. What will keep me going back is the ultrasonic teeth cleaner. No more scraping! Dr. Patel is great, staff is super friendly, and they respect your time. Once I arrived, I was greeted and taken back to my dentist chair, I fired up ESPN on my private flat screen, then my checkup and cleaning was quickly under way. I was out of there in about 30 minutes. If you're looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend this younger, cool dentist with a lot of high tech tools to make dentist appointments not something you'll dread. This guy is really nice & I wish I didn't have to do this but Dr. Patel is an absolute amateur...i can say this because i got some fillings done and had to come back 3 times for bite adjustments while in tremendous pain. Now i come to find out that he nicked a nerve and killed my tooth so now I'm headed for a costly & painful root canal. He couldn't even tell me which tooth was infected so i had to go to another dentist, spend $50 cash & it took the new dentist to 30 seconds to figure it out. Dr. Patel has a nice office with state of the art dentist equipment. I felt very comfortable and satisfied when Dr. Patel told me my options about my teeth. Since my teeth are not in the best shape he had told me what his recommendations would be, however he did not push me towards only one method. He gave me a couple different options that I could choose from. Basically, I felt in control of my teeth and how I wanted him to proceed. The main thing I look in a dentist is trust. To gain that trust, Dr. Patel took pictures of my teeth with a small camera and discussed with me any future problems that may arise. When I had questions about certain procedures, he had different models of a tooth to explain exactly what he would do. Presentation of his style is excellent. Dr. Patel has been my dentist for quite some time now and I could not be happier. He is extremely patient, takes interest in his patients needs, and explains everything in detail. His staff is friendly and offers you a choice of beverage upon arrival along with handing you the remote for the TV once you are seated in the dental chair. It is located in a huge plaza so parking is always available and the office is pretty easy to spot. Many years ago I needed a crown that turned in to a root canal. After Dr. Patel performed the procedure, I woke up the next day with an excruciating ear ache and informed Dr. Patel's office. When I went back his assistant, not another dentist nor a hygienist, stated " how would you have an ear ache from a little dental work?" And she chuckled. After numerous visits to work on the root canal Dr. Patel suggested I see an ENT doctor because the ear ache was not going away. I went to the ENT doctor and was informed the Eustachian tube can be affected by dental work. I went back to Dr. Patel to advise him and his response was "I'm baffled. I'll have to research that." Then his office offered to give me a complimentary teeth whitening session. I had the ear ache for approximately 8.5 months. Also, the cleanings are mediocre. Dr. Patel didn't have a hygienist at the time and performed the cleanings himself. I'll never go back. read more

Although I was embarrassed about letting things go for such a long time, Dr. Patel was extremely kind and took a great deal of time to discuss treatment options with me. Going to the dentist is not something I enjoy - but it had been 8 months and I didn't want to end up needing dentures so I went onto YELP and made an appointment with Aliso Smiles. I got the new patient special for $59 for exam, xrays, and a cleaning then I decided to add teeth whitening for $99. I walk in the door and the front office lady immediately asks for my credit card. This lady needs to take an course on "How to Interact With Other Humans 101." She has absolutely no interpersonal skills! She looks so stiff and uptight one might think her body was starting to set into rigormortis. I go back to the exam room and the dental hygienist and the dentist are both very personable (a stark contrast to the lady at the front desk). Then they took my xrays and then spent so much time trying to sell me on Invisalign they ran out of time to do my cleaning and whitening even though I had already prepaid! The dentist informed me that I had six cavities and that he wanted to wait to do my cleaning/whitening for two weeks so he could see if I was flossing better. Then I was escorted to the cave where the front office lady sits, she told me that for each of my cavities it would be $273 (total $1638) and tried to sell me on a Night Guard even though I don't grind my teeth at night. Then I asked how many surfaces each of my cavities were and they varied from one surface to three. It doesn't make sense to charge the same price for a one surface cavity as it does three surface cavity, so I decided to get a second opinion. I called up a couple of dentists and they told me to ask for a copy of my xrays. I called up and the rigormortis lady informs me that it will be $25 to email me a copy of my xrays.Then I asked if I could move up my cleaning to an earlier date and she informed me that they have no open appointments. So the dentist was trying to feed me BS about wanting to wait two weeks to check up on my flossing - the truth of the matter was there were no open appointments. I don't mind the truth and having to wait for an appointment. I just don't want to be fed a bullshit excuse. I then signed up for $87 dental insurance through Costco and plan on visiting Havard Dental Group in San Juan Capistrano to get a second opinion. I will update my review after my cleaning. read more

I have gone to this office thru three dentists because the original Office Manager was a friend of ours. Prior to Dr. Patel we never really cared for the dentists (and each were there less than a year) but kept going into the office because they are close to our home and we were too busy to find another one we liked. When Dr. Patel took over the practice, our first visit was great. He is very friendly, totally explains when you need something done, showing the X-Rays and telling every detail, if you want to hear it (which I usually do). My husband is fortunate to have great teeth and not really any cavities. I, on the other hand, had a lot of cavities when I was younger and now they need a few tweaks here and there (new ones because the old ones are lifting). I can feel when they need work and one tooth I put off the work and that was a bad move. Dr. Patel kept checking the tooth/teeth that were in need of some repair but never pushed me. He told me what they needed and let me decide when to have it done, while updating me as to the status. I then came to him with an ache and that was "the tooth", then another. It was totally my fault that I had the pain, since I chose to wait, OOPS! I have had two root canals and some crown work done. I also go to Dr. Patel every six months for cleanings. I love the feeling of clean teeth. Yes, I brush and floss regularly but he can always get that darn plaque and such gone gone gone. Many are fearful of dental work, I am not. Even though I am not, I still feel that Dr. Patel is cautious and very careful to not cause any unnecessary pain. I believe that is due to his education and that he really cares. I would, do and will continue to recommend Dr. Patel to all of my family and friends. He is proactive when he needs to be but not one of those dentists who tell you that you need a ton of work just so he has work. TOTALLY honest dentist. If you need a great dentist go and see him. You cannot go wrong with Aliso Smiles and Dr. Patel. This is not a paid endorsement, there were no certificates or gifts offered like another reviewer eluded to. This is just my honest experience of this dentist and the office. I am happy to do a review for those that do good work, and he does great work! read more

The front desk staff is extremely lazy and just wants you to do all the work with your insurance company.... Instead of making a simple to call to my insurance, she insisted for me to make an appointment first (right, so then you can get money from my insurance company) then she could get me an estimate on some work needing to be done.... My first visit was great. I had to find a new dentist quickly because I had broken a tooth and they accommodated me. I've been looking for another dentist since I wasn't too fond of the one I found earlier and I don't normally switch provider unless I have to. I would say that the staff are great, friendly, and professional. The office is clean, modern, high-tech, and inviting. Went to Dr. Patel's office yesterday and LOVED him and his staff. Nice, clean, and up to date office. All dental chairs have their own TV. He was very friendly and knowledgeable - education IS the best preventative measure. His dental assistant, Melanie, was gentle and cheerful. The front office assistant, Diana, was extremely helpful; she was kind enough to email me all my paperwork prior to my appointment, that way I could just bring it in with me. What I also liked was how high tech their appointment reminders are. You'll get email reminders asking if you need to reschedule your appointment and or asking you to confirm it.
