I've been a customer at Wolcott's for over 40 years and until a few years ago I was always was helped by the Wolcott brothers and Steve, who were always great. Since their deaths/departure, service has been on the decline. But, today was the last straw. I went in to have a broken hinge replaced . That never would have been an issue in the past. I was told it could not be done. The employee was a jerk and so rude that I told him I would not be coming back....and I won't. I went to All American Eyeglass Repair. What a fabulous family business....started by grandma decades ago and now the family has outlets nationally and receive mail ins from all over the country. Jose, 27 years old, was great. I went to 3 other places before I ended up here and every one of them told me my glasses were done for. But In about 2 hours Jose fixed them completely for like 1/9th the cost of a new pair! Recommended to patronize this place by my Optometrist...who after 3-4 attempts to repair the reading glasses that I purchased from his shop simply could NOT repair my brand-new glasses (the lenses kept falling out!) I have several pairs of old Tommy Bahama frames that everyone loves. Could never find anything similar for years. Then I stepped on my favorite pair, cracking the frame in half in the middle of one of the lenses. I was totally depressed. Found AAER on line and contacted them. I initially took my glasses to the original store I purchased them in West Village, to get them repaired, and was told it would they were not reparable and would cost $1,750.00 for the frame, which is the same amount I initially paid for my frames. I bought a very lightweight pair of eyeglasses from Walmart near my home in Lehi. They warned me when I bought them that I may have to be extra careful as the arms were super lightweight. To my surprise they lasted almost 2 years. They went through being on the road with a band, many music studio recording sessions, checking text and phone messages all day long and I was very happy. While teaching at Horne School of Music ( snow college) I felt the left side arm just fall off and I had no idea if I could save the glasses I loved. Today the lady at Walmart gave me a card for All American Eyeglass repair and told me she had heard amazing things about them and that the car ride to Murray would be well worth my time. I called and Casey answered. He was friendly, professional, upbeat and sincerely interested to help me. I told him I would make the drive. Arriving 25 or so minutes later I walked in and he immediately greeted by name. ( I loved that). He took a look at my glasses and he gave me two options to fix them. I was very happy to hear that he would be able to repair my glasses. The prices for both options were amazingly fair and I figured in a week or two I could come back and get them. I thanked him, and paid him and to my surprise he said come back in 30 minutes and they will be done. I was speechless , I looked at him and asked "did you just tell me that you would fix my glasses in 30 minutes?" He said yes, just give me 30 minutes. I was blown away. I went to the restaurant across the street , took a short walk and returned about 25 minutes later. He greeted me with a friendly smile and then presented me the repaired glasses which were perfect in every way. He was able to keep them beautiful, keep them lightweight and he watched as I put them on to make sure I was happy. I would say that if YELP gave me a chance to give Casey and his company 20 stars. This place was amazing. I have a pair of glasses where I love the frames. They look right and are extremely comfortable. So, I was really frustrated when I managed to get up at a meeting, set my glasses on my seat and then sit on them. I broke the frames near where the screw by the temple is. A friend suggested a good jewelry store might be able to fix them. I parked behind a Rolls Royce with the driver waiting at a really top jewelry store in Rancho Mirage, CA. They had several full time people doing jewelry repair. They said they couldn't do it. It would take special laser equipment. I figured I'd try the best high end glasses place in SLC. I went to the Spectacle. They couldn't do it. They sent me here. The owner (I assume) took one look and said he could repair it. Before we left he told another lady about a change he could do with the nose bridges to make it more comfortable. We had him do it to both our pair of glasses. Perfect. It really helped. The repair is perfect. It saved a favorite pair of quite expensive frames. I can't say enough good about how well we were treated and the quality of the work. read more

I took my glasses in on a Tuesday, she said "can you leave them over night?" I said sure. Went back the next day and they were closed which she failed to tell me when I dropped off. On my way to pick them up Thursday and she called and said she needed more time. I said " okay, I can't pick them up until Saturday". I arrived at the store Saturday at noon. She was barely working on the them so I waited ten minutes while she finished. When she was done I realized one lens was loose so I asked if she could tighten it and she told me I'd have to wait until she took care of customers who came in behind me. Only place I could find I'm SLC that was willing to fix my sons glasses. It was broken right above the glass lens and the leg was broken off. My son tried fixing it was gorilla glue so, there was also a huge clump of dried glue on it. They fixed it a and only charged me 44 bucks, and that was after taxes! Literally saved me 160 bucks! They were fast and was done that day! Dont replace your new glasses if you broke them! Save some time and money and visit this place! read more

Had a terrible experience. Sent in a pair of Oliver People's sunglasses because the arm detached. Granted the glasses were in rough shape but I thought if they can be salvaged great. So I got a call, Ryan I believe, saying glasses were in rough shape and both arms would need to be replaced. (Never had issues with the good arm). So I agreed, he upped the price, "repaired" the glasses and sent them back. They lasted one day. I put them on and off two times and the original arm that was to be repaired fell off. Like I said the glasses were in rough shape however I was expecting to get some use out of them. I sent a email to Ryan explaining what happened and how disappointed I was in the repair. To this day 3-4 emails sent and no response. Funny, they had no problem calling me and getting more money for a repair probably not needed! And it's not the fact that I am looking for a refund but would certainly think it warrants a response. It's a shame. I should have taken glasses somewhere physically so I could speak face to face with someone. Recommendation would be, BEWARE! read more

What exactly does $$ mean for an Eyeglass Repair shop? I really don't know but I guess it means, this place isn't less than $10? All American Eyeglass Repair repaired my glasses perfectly and also told me why my glasses (flexon) broke; because there weren't spring hinges on the ear pieces hence concentrating all the stresses of using the glasses on the nosebridge. So here's my situation: My glasses frame broke. :( My options: 1) Buy the same frame for $143+tax online. Not possible. Unfortunately, my frame has been discontinued. Sigh...such is the product cycle of fashionable items. 2) Use the same lenses in another frame? No, not recommended. Lens Crafters says it would be too difficult to match the pupil distance after grinding the lens to fit the new frame. 3) Buy a new frame and lens? Too expensive. $400+ Due to my high prescriptions and lousy insurance (eyemed). Quotes from Target, Costco and Lens Crafters. 4) Repair my frame at All American Eyeglass Repair! $89 to fix the Flexon bridge, color matched to my black glasses in less than 1 hr! Comes with a 1 year warranty. Awesome! I can see clearly now! Plus, the worker there gave me a nice discount for first time visitors! I really dig the service, the discount and the quality of work. A godsend. I'm from NY, and my glasses broke while on a ski trip to UT. Eyeglass stores, and jewelers couldn't fix my glasses, but they steered me to this place. When I handed the man behind the counter my busted frame, he said, "I'm going to put it under a microscope, and then weld.." He had me at microscope. Did I get him on a bad day because d***, my experience was far than stellar. He did a good job with the repair, but the mansplaining and being talked down to was super offensive. Plus he told me things like "Using nail polish remover will cause your lens to shatter" which I have done in the past, and oddly enough did as soon as I got home since I had tried a self repair and dripped onto the lens. I'm also reading what everyone was charged and my repair was on a temple as well and I was charged about $20 more. When I said "This would get me by for a few months" (because I had planned to get new glasses which I had mentioned) he acted offended and told me how it would last far longer than that... He just came off as pompous and acted like because I'm a woman I was stupid. 129 point IQ, so nope, sorry. Perhaps if he hadn't felt the need to talk to me like a small, learning impaired child, this might have been a better review. read more

As I'm not local and don't have a location near me, I used their mail in service. Got them back in less than a week, and I'm very impressed.
