On the wooden fence, the gate must have settled because the gate lock would not line up with the hole in the post, making it difficult to open and lock. I called All American to explain the problem. Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my former 5 star rating. All American Fences did several jobs for me and I was satisfied. On the last job, the heavy wooden gate they built sagged after a few months, and they cheerfully fixed it and replaced the hinges with something stronger. After 3 years, I was having a similar problem, with the gate not closing any more. I reached out by email to schedule a fix, and after a couple of tries got a reply saying it's not under warranty any more. That's fine, I said, just let me know when you can come. Silence after that, in response to multiple emails and phone messages over the course of a couple of months. That's not how you treat good customers who have recommended you to many others. I really loved this company, and the work they completed. I had a 110ft aluminum fence put in the front yard and it has made the house look better, as well as, protecting my kids when they play in the front yard. Pros: - competitive pricing - quality workmanship - completed project in 1 day (removed old fence, installed 65' of new fence) Cons: - When we signed the contract and paid the deposit in mid-October, we were told it would take 6-8 weeks to obtain materials. Therefore we were expecting the project to be done by mid-December. It actually took until mid-February. Construction staff was friendly, worked hard. Several panels needed to be replaced and were fixed without complaint. Gate construction needs to be adjusted due to sagging that was anticipated by All American but still occurred despite a design using less material. Contractor & I agreed to delay fixing this problem until I have driveway pavers installed underneath and strengthening the corner fence post. If this does not level the gate, I expect All American to rebuild the gate to a 50-50 split rather than 65/35. Will update this review once adjustments have been made. read more

Nino came promptly for the initial meeting and provided an estimate within a couple days which was very competitive. On the day of installation the crew was behind schedule due to another job that took longer than expected. They arrived around 3pm instead of 9am, and Nino sent additional men to help. They worked hard and stayed until the fence was completed at 9pm! They cleaned up all the debris and hauled away our old fence. We were very grateful that they were able to complete it in one day as proposed, even after the late start. The quality of the materials and construction are excellent, very solid and attractive. STAY AWAY! We are about to close on a house that is on a substantial piece of land. The first project needed ASAP is a privacy fence around the entire property (for dogs). I called All American Fence to get a bid for the job. I scheduled a date and time with them two weeks prior. We haven't closed on the house yet, so I also had to schedule time with the realtor and homeowners (sellers) to allow us to come take the measurements. I also had to take time off work. THE DAY BEFORE the meeting, they called to cancel. This isn't a small job. However, they apparently don't value the customers, their commitments to appointments or my time. I chose this company without hesitation because they are listed in Fairfax County's best picks and thought what could go wrong? Well I should have done more research prior. I requested the most basic fence job from this company. Replacing board on board. I Recently replaced the gate on my fence so when they came to give me an estimate I asked Nino (owner) if he could keep the gate I already had so I wasn't paying for a new door. He said yes. They ended up replacing the door, it looked better than the other new one so I just let it go (I was charged for it). Now to the part I could not let go. There was a gap underneath my fence once they were done. I was not able to see the completed job until following day since they finished a couple hours past their estimated finish time of 3-4pm which I could have made but I had an engagement party to go to at 7pm. They finished close to 7pm and my dad had to go at the very end to pay them (you will see why I'm mentioning this later). Prior to this job, my old fence was level on top and there was NO gap under the fence. When I contacted All American Fences via email, Zulema Osorio responded and she was completely unprofessional and rude in her tone. The only options she gave me was for me to pay extra to get a longer board cut or to cut & move that part of the fence down (to close gap) and have the top of the fence uneven. Even so, it's not what you say it's how you say it. I will gladly share our email exchange with anyone. I was never rude but her responses certainly were. You would have thought she was the customer getting jipped. Her being on the business side was even more shocking. The owner met with me in person and there is clearly a culture barrier. There were many things I had to repeat and although he is "friendly" he kept addressing and answering an issue I never mentioned. He kept saying it's a beautiful fence and telling me the top of the fence is even. I had to explain at least 4x I do not have a problem with the top of the fence or the quality of the fence, my problem is there is a gap on the bottom of the fence that was not there prior to their job and nobody communicated this to me. As an alternative I asked if he could remove the boards covering the gap on the bottom and put soil down then plant grass seeds once the season permits to close the gap. He agreed. He also did not acknowledge the fact that Zulema was rude at all. He literally gave me a blank smile when I expressed how unprofessional she is. Zulema emailed me the next day to say all they will do it put dirt down. I advised we agreed to soil & grass seeds (they refused to entertain the idea to reimburse for me to get a landscaper to do it) and she continued to argue what Nino told me even though she was not there. I told Nino and Zulema specifically I want to be there when this is happening since when the fence was initially installed, given what's going on. Zulema was more interested in arguing with me than setting up a time when this can happen. She eventually said they are going to remove the boards covering the gap & put dirt (not soil) down the fill the gap and dictated I do not need to be there when they do this and she will just call me when they're done. Again, I wanted to be there considering what has happened so far but it seems she was not accepting it. It has been over a month now and nothing from this company since then. I am done arguing with them. If you decide to use them, be warned. To top it all off, my tenants observed the workers taking turns sleeping under the deck. Perhaps they would have finished the job at the promised time if they did not do this. My tenants have nothing to gain by telling me this and they both saw it. I got a quote from AAF in January. I emailed them two days ago telling them that I'd like to move forward on having them do my fence. They never responded. They called me today literally minutes after I emailed another company telling them that I'd like to go forward but I had some questions. When she called me I started to say that I had just emailed another company and before I could tell her that I hadn't committed yet and would prefer to go with AAF, she very snarkily said, oh, ok, thanks, have a nice weekend, and hung up on me! I am just astounded at the level of unprofessionalism. I called her back and told her that I was ABOUT to tell her that I preferred AAF over the other company because their price was better but now she lost my business because she basically just hung up on me. I wonder how much other business this woman has lost because of her snarky responses. What they don't know is that my neighbor is getting a partial fence as well and I was going to give them their business as well. Absolutely ridiculous. ADD ON in response to owner's comment: My exact words when Zuly called me were "Oh, I just finished emailing another company--" and she cut me off and said, oh, ok, then have a good weekend, and hung up. My fence was installed in 2016. I had issues with both gates and in 2017 they made repairs. Had I written my review at that time I would have given them 5 stars for value, responsiveness, and customer service. Fast forward to June 2019 when I noticed one gate needed repair. I sent 3 emails before I was told they'd need to schedule an estimate. On Sept. 13th I sent a 7th email asking for a repair estimate, which, in my humble opinion, should be fairly simple since they did the original install and I sent them photos. On Sept. 14th they asked for my address again and that was provided. I've still not heard from them. Why did I give them so many opportunities? They were fantastic to work with in 2016 and this poor customer service was nothing I'd experienced before. I wanted to give them every opportunity to respond but I have a non-functioning gate that needs to be repaired and I can wait no longer. If you're looking for a one-and-done company, maybe they're a good choice but if you're looking for long-term customer service, look elsewhere. I've never experienced worst initial customer service from a company. I called and got an answering machine. I spoke with Nino and confirmed an appt for Monday at 9 am. I received A message confirming the appointment. When I called Monday morning close to 9 o'clock after I drive an hour to get to the house, I was told they had no information regarding my appointment, I was also told if someone leaves you a message you should call them. Why should I call them back when Nino confirmed my spot last week?!?! I was also told that clearly maybe they shouldn't do business with us, maybe we should just call someone else!?! You think?
