My friends were in town from Hawaii and decided they wanted to try this midtown establishment for dinner last weekend. I have seen it before and it always looks like an enjoyable experience. I was quite surprised by my personal experience as it fell short of what I hoped for. Ambiance and decor were typical for a Saturday evening dinner: dark and loud, however, it was very dim due to it being a railroad set up with no windows except for the very front of the space. The decor is dark as well and gave a cave vibe. The restaurant was EXTREMELY hot. We asked the waiter about the A/C and his response was "they are working on it". The restaurant remained uncomfortably hot for our entire meal. No windows, no air flow, no A/C is a combination for misery. The bar was almost the entire length of the restaurant and was the only well-lit area of the restaurant. It was not separate from the seated areas. Our table was cocktail size and definitely too small for 3 guests. Service was mediocre. I asked our waiter about a drink and he did not know. I asked the same waiter about the A/C and received a lame answer. He was not knowledgeable nor timely. We had to ask for plates when the food arrived because we ordered finger foods to share. The food took a long time to be served (over 20 minutes). The place is small so I guess my expectation of faster service was too much to hope for. The food was touch and go. My friend's husband ordered a cheeseburger and fries. He seemed to enjoy it and as you can see from the picture it was a basic plate of food. I shared a salad, fried olives and charcuterie board with my friend. The olives were edible. They had a breaded coating that can be found on frozen breaded foods from your local grocery. The dipping sauce saved them. The rest of the items were plain. Nothing to praise and nothing to complain about. I was disappointed in our lemon bar dessert. It was horrible. The flavor was a dull lemon like one drop of flavoring was incorporated in it. The plate had no whipped cream or mint leaves for presentation. I was very unimpressed. Again, service was slow as the waiter said it would be right out. 10 minutes passed and we had to ask another waiter for it. Not good at all. The table next to us received 2 huge sundaes with sparklers on top. They looked so fun! The bathroom was the tinier than an airplane lavatory. Should an obese person need to use it they will not be able to fit inside. Dark and almost unusable due to it's small size and no ventilation. Could not see if the bathroom was clean but it did not smell. I give this place a 2.5 out of 5. If you are looking for a great culinary experience this is not the place for you. There is alot of room for improvement and I probably will not go back. read more

Cute spot with kind staff near Columbus Circle. It is the place to grab oysters without breaking the bank after work. There's a happy hour in that post-work time frame and there is a cocktail of the day as well...in every case i've experienced it is good. This spot outside NYC would be a jam packed really crowded bar. In NYC it doesn't truly differentiate itself. Is it a bar, is it an oyster spot, is it a late night hang? Why is it in Columbus Circle area? Overall it's worth coming to if you're in the area and you're not looking to spend Nougatine or Ascent bar prices - but it's just good, not great. read more

It was so pretty and had a really nice depth of flavor. It was not too sweet, which I enjoyed. We also shared the veggie plate and fries. The veggie plate came with really delicious spreads. Solo Date A friend of mine I was planning to meet for an Orchestra Performance in Lincoln Center recommended this place to me. I did make reservations on their website 3 hours before I planned to show up. I figured it might get crowded after 5pm even on a Wednesday and I was right. I opted to be seated outside. There is 6 tables squeezed together on a side walk dividing the passerby's by some fake plants. It wasn't the most comfortable seat but it is NYC after all. When I went inside to use the restroom the place was dark and more noisier than what I am used to in bars. I'm glad I ended up sitting outside. The lady that greeted me at first did not see me staring at her phone. I Literarlly had to get her attention. But my server was very nice and the service surprisingly quick! I got my drink ($19 Betty Boop) and Half Charcuterie Board ($32) in more or less - and I kid you not - what felt like five minutes from placing the order. The drink had a nice kick to it. You can immediately tell they put a decent amount of alcohol in it. The food was amazing. I love a charcuterie board and have been disappointed so many times. This one had a nice variety of meats, cheese, fruits and condiments. I genuinely enjoyed it! I think the prices are reasonable for the quality of the restaurant, food and its location. I've only come here to sit at the bar, which has some nice (but sweet) cocktails and a late night menu that usually hits the spot. It's the kinda place that's really pleasant when it's lively but a little too cramped when it's bustling. Also later some nights they have a live DJ which always feels super bizarre to me because there isn't like a real dance floor so I'm not too sure why but whatever. Y'all do y'all. This place is an absolute gem. I've lived in this neighborhood for ages and only recently joined friends here for brunch. I'm very glad I did. I came back specifically for the turkey club. Not only is the sandwich enormous you tell immediately that the turkey is freshly roasted. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it's the best turkey club I've ever had. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday party. Everything would have been fine except for the fact that the waitress was incredibly rude when we made a simple request. My friend brought in a cake and simply asked that the sparkler not be placed in the center of the cake. The waitress told my friend to stop talking!!! This is incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional, especially since the sparkler ended up right in the middle even after we politely asked for it to not be placed there. I understand that people are busy, and the staff have other tables to wait on, but the restaurant wasn't even that packed. There was no reason to treat us this way. As for the food, it was okay. The steak and fries was nothing special. There wasn't a crust, but it was cooked like I asked, medium rare. The burger was also okay. Also the waitress forgot to give multiple people at the table ketchup, and we had to had to ask for it. Finally a bar by Columbus Circle that stays open until 4AM! How amazing and delightfully quaint. Working in the Times Square area, a new hang-out space was in dire need- and how lovely to have opened as NYC re-emerges from the cold. Seems like they just opened though? Maybe a month old... however it's been amazing every time I've stopped by! The cocktails are delicious and the food is stellar. The best part about the place is how much at home you feel. The service here is top-notch. Cocktails are almost never longer than a three to four minute wait - (beers and wine in half that time!), and the bartenders almost predict what you're looking for in a cocktail experience. The servers are always smiling and checking in on you while you're enjoying the fruits of their labor. Icing on the cake: the surprise upstairs! Yes- they have an upstairs, and apparently the mural on the stairs took a whopping 300 hours to complete! Plus the artist painted WALDO in the mural! For nostalgia reasons I'm sure ;) All in all, a truly enjoyable experience. Hurry down to hang out here after a walk in #centralpark or a show at #lincolncenter. However the size of the glasses and the price of the drinks were really extremely expensive. I was incredibly disappointed when our check came out. This is a nice hidden gem! Great bartenders and great ambiance. It's pretty spacious too and clean! Even though they have a full menu it seems like more of a drinking spot to me. I go there for the veggie crudité platter and it's AMAZING! I'm not a vegetarian but the platter makes me forget about meat! It's fresh and gives you a lot of variety and it's oozing with flavor! I can eat that and be satisfied for the rest of the day. Crowd is usually groups of friends or coworkers. I wouldn't call it a singles bar but anything is possible. read more
