He asks what I want, I say picture windows. He sends me a picture of double hang and says he recommends them. Don't need them. Then he just TEXTS me a price range. Red flag. Where's your quote with the type of door being used? Also, the number is high. I ask for the SKU to look it up on my own. He sends me a generic link to an affiliate landing page for DOUBLE HUNG DOORS. Ok, so here's where you have to use your best judgement. These guys have great ratings on multiple pages, so they obviously do excellent installs. But that doesn't mean they aren't ripping people off, because you can get similar work done for MUCH cheaper. That's where I got him, bc he wasn't willing to disclose where his range was coming from and then immediately tried to pass me off to Renweal by Anderson, which is widely known as THE biggest price-hike in the game. The safe bet with them is whatever they quote you initially is about double what it should actually cost. So it makes sense the owner thought it's a reasonable peer in the industry. Then he weirdly started text-harassing me when I passed on his offer. Piss off.

Guy in charge started yelling at me that i should never expect that the door would not rot. I was stunned, but asked if that meant that he was refusing to honor the express warranty. He told me that he would do so "once" (meaning that if the replacement door of same type also rotted, he would not honor the warranty, which was a direct violation of the terms of the warranty). Best of all, i had to threaten legal action to actually get the replacement door after many months of delay ...might have actually been more like a year, but i am not certain. The guy, who i understood to be a manager, was so nasty that i am really shocked. Could have been a one-off, but just don't know. I will certainly not frequent them again, and when i have had contractors do work on the house since that time, a condition is that they not purchase anything on my job from Shepley. I realize that they don't need my business, but what other recourse does a consumer have? No one should spend their money at a place that treats its own customers with contempt.
