Late Sunday afternoon we discovered a leak in the basement and called Essex County All Clear Plumbing. We had used All Clear before for a couple of small jobs and were confident in their service. Someone was at the house within the hour to assess. Unfortunately our 8 yr old furnace was cracked and had to be replaced. The following day was a government holiday but they successfully ordered a new unit and delivered it the following day. They arrived at 8am and did the installation by 5pm, including cleanup. As cold as we were in the house, they had to work in the cold basement with the outside door open in 15* weather. They were very professional and easy to work with. I've been using these guys for a few years, since we moved to NJ. Most of the guys they sent were fine. There was one guy who I did not like and I always requested not him. But yesterday a new guy came out and even though I specifically asked not to use any product because I'm super allergic to everything, they used something to unclog my sink and then completely overcharged me. Yeah, I'm going there. Yesterday was a rip off and today the chemical they used is burning my eyes and giving me a migraine. Horrible pricing! The tech who came here tried to say it would be over 1000 dollars to install a sink and faucet that I would be providing. Also tried to charge 450 to replace a shut off valve. So I get a call, "did you poor something in the utility sink"? No, what does it look like? It's brown but I smells like stale water. Well that's sewage!! I'm in the salon and yelping plumbers at 5:00pm. Now am I asking the people around and they all said All Clear. They said it's late but they will one out. 2 hours later the truck pulls in. Yup it's sewerage in the sink. Plumber gets to snaking the sink, he was satisfied with the slow drainage. ( most would have left once it went half way down.) He removed the drain cap to the street, checked to see if it was clogged . One flushable wipe refused to go away. Snaked it to the curb. Gave a few instructions and the service comes with a warranty. My wife and I recently purchased a 100 year old home in Kearny, NJ. Having just dumped a small fortune on the investment, and us being in the midst of the ongoing Covid Pandemic, we were very concerned about a significant water main leak issue in our basement. Having consulted 2 prior plumbers in the area, both suggested they could "try" a fix at the cost of about 3k (but there were no guarantees) and I would then be looking at around "maybe" 8-10k for them to dig up underneath my property for the fix. They both said "maybe" when pressed and would not give me a solid number which lead me to believe I would be paying more like 12k at the end of it all; and, that any attempted "fix" would surely fail. Staring at the prospect of having to spend another 10-12k, I took a chance and contacted Ivan @ All Clear. His crew came out and assessed the situation. Talking with Ivan, he offered an attempted fix for about $700. Not only that, he explained and gave details about what they would try to do to repair it (neither of the previous 2 plumbers shared what they would try). This extra insight and information gave me the confidence that Ivan and his crew knew what they were doing, and had a high probably of pulling it off. tldr: I took a chance with All Clear and it paid off! They repaired the leak onsite in 1 day. We ended paying around $700 instead of $10,000. With the extra money, we were able to enjoy our new home (as it should be), rather than live off bread and water for the next few months . Overall, I cannot recommend All Clear enough. They are the most professional and honest plumbers I have talked to in NJ since buying this house. I would say give them a call if you have a plumbing issue that seems to be spiraling out of control. After not being able to unclog it myself, I searched for a company and All Clear popped up with some great reviews. I called them at 7 am the next morning. Spoke to a very polite and helpful young woman. Less than an hour later there was a fully equipped work van at my house!! Very nice, polite, and kind young man. I wish I could remember his name. Took him downstairs and he explained everything he was going to do, and told me what the cost would be. He was here for a little over an hour while I just stayed out of his way. Great service! Very customer centric service. Had a severed drain clog that cause a spill from the drain in our basement on Mother's Day. Really wanted to get it sorted out before Monday's start. Called All Clear. A lovely young lady named Infinity answered on the second ring. I explained my situation and she advised she could have someone within the hour to help us and would call us when they were on their way to us. Both things happened. The plumber Fred showed up. Asked what the issue was and got right to it. Sadly as he was snaking our line his snake broke loose and got stuck in the pipe. I had a leaky kitchen sink and called AllClear, NJ. As usual, they sent someone right away. The personable and efficient plumber told me I needed a new faucet and a valve replaced. I was floored by the price he quoted and when I asked why it cost so much and he said the faucet was expensive. I paid the nearly $800. for the job because I didn't know what else to do. I have since priced the faucet and it cost a little over $100. The job took about an hour. I have used AllClear many times in the past because I appreciate their prompt service. My mother has called All Clear many times to service the plumbing in our house. Often times, my mother would say how expensive they were when she used to pay them. I didn't pay any mind. I thought my mom was being cheap, until I had a plumbing emergency two weeks after my mother's passing. My water tank was leaking. I called All Clear to come to the house as this has never happened before. I was freaking out, and they turned off the water to stop the leaking water. When they gave me the estimate for replacing the water tank, they wanted to charge me close to $2,000. Mind you a water tank costs $400 at Home Depot. I told the worker that was expensive as hell, and was going to go with a different company. So he charged me service fee of $200 for turning off my water. I was blown away. I said to the worker, "Are you serious? My mother just died two weeks ago and you are going to charge me close to $200 just to turn off my water - I just buried my mother. I just paid thousands of dollars for a funeral. You can't cut me a break. I understand anywhere from $45 to $75 as a service charge, but close to $200. Unbelievable. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I needed to let you everyone know my experience with All Clear from the water tank cost to the service fee to the costs my mom would complain about before she died. I hope you will all start giving fair prices to your customers. And I won't ever be calling you all again. I should have listened to my mom. read more

Fred came and was pretty knowledgeable, I'll give them credit, but they ended up charging me $3,000.00 for a job that I later referenced with other competitors ranging from $800-$1200. Then for a month and a half I tried asking for an itemized bill for insurance auditor. Had they given this courtesy my insurance would have paid some of the cost but due to their gross indifference and lack of customer service I was unable to recover any of my expenses from insurance. read more

All Clear was contracted through a friend of the owner's to hook up a kitchen sink, with faucets provided. He also installed a drain and hooked up a gas stove with a shut off valve. In the basement, he extended the gas line 5ft. The very next day, we turned the faucet on, and there was a leak. He had to come back and fix this. He never turned the gas on on the stove. He tried to charge almost $1,000 for less than 1 hour worth of work and less than $75 worth of material. Maybe he should have been a criminal lawyer who earns upwards of $800 an hour. After determining it must have been a leak from an old & faulty dehumidifier unit, he did not charge me a penny! We have a long history with All Clear -- Gary replaced our failed sump pump and added a backup pump for additional safety, and more recently installed the line for the ice maker in our new refrigerator. During the recent cold spell in New Jersey, our furnace suddenly stopped working and temperatures inside the house plummetted. We needed heat and called All Clear. Please avoid this company! Not sure why they have so many great reviews. I had an appointment from 8AM to 10AM. The plumber showed up at 10:17 - okay no problem. It seems like he took one good look at me and said, I'm going to screw her today. The plumber literally just looked at the shower and knew automatically what the issue was. Which in some cases you can do that, but should be following-up by troubleshooting the issue. Which might involve unscrewing parts of the shower to inspect them further. He gave me a price of $585 just to repair the valve. I could possibly be incorrect, but there is no way a valve or a basic bathroom kit costs more than $150 at the supply house. Then he told me to replace the whole kit would be almost $1000. So we discussed confirming which model number of the part that needs to be replaced. In doing so, he broke the valve, then shoved the part in my face to shower me the damage. Which just looked like normal wear, but again I am not a plumber. When he broke the piece I was completely annoyed, because I had to spend $1000 or call someone else which would probably be costly for an emergency service. He put me in an incredibly horrible situation. He excused himself to go pick up the part that was broken, came back 40 minutes later and only 20 minutes to replace the part. Only to tell me he replaced the part and the spout and was going to give me a whopping discount of $585, plus tax to repair the whole thing. If this were not in NJ where you have to pay for water, in addition to, we live in a multi-family and the shower he was replacing was for a tenant - I would have sent him packing. I am upset with myself that I let someone take advantage of me - but you live and you learn. And in this case I paid a hefty price to learn a lesson. We had 2 separate jobs performed by Fred and his helper. ------- 1) Clear the clog in the basement sink line.- They accomplished what others could not -Cost $298. And we are grateful for the clog being cleared. -------- 2) Second job was to install a Sewer Backflow Valve, that stops water/sewage coming up from the street sewer line, into the basement, when the area experiences heavy rain. We realize the price we were quoted $3200 ($3400 with tax) was high, and could have had done for less, we still moved foreword with the installation. ------------------ The few things overall that left us with concern. Plumber roaming in the other room and looking at the computers up close, for about 10 minutes, using his smartphone camera light, and looking inside/around the computer servers we have in the next room, ( Security cameras caught this). the Second concern was the sewer backflow valve, He quoted the job to only install the backflow valve, without any Sewer Cleanout Plugs before or after the backflow valve, which is pretty standard procedure - I also called the manufacturer of the Sewer Backflow Valve to confirm. I had to push to have the Before & After Sewer cleanouts plugs installed. ----------------------The last concern was how the installation was done. A piece of aluminum sheeting was rolled into a tube and placed into the ground, and cement poured around it. It sticks out of the floor, has very sharp edges, and sheet metal screws sticking out., So if we were to stick our hand/arm down, to open and check/clean out the Sewer Backflow valve, we run high risks of cutting our arm or puncturing our arm with the sheet metal screws. The normal process when installing, is to install a sewer pipe / valve access box, that has a lid that is level to the floor after installation. And then the lid is removed to access the pipe/backflow valve. Overall the present situation of sharp edges - sheet metal screws sticking out, I have to address myself, and fix the issue, so that there is no risk of injury when performing yearly checks/clean out of the sewer backflow valve. -------------------------Overall we are glad sewer backflow valve is installed, and understand it a laborious job gaining access through the cement floor, and we thank them for that, but not happy that a $32 Sewer Access Box was not installed, and sharp metal rolled into a pipe shape was installed as the access point, So I have to deal with addressing the very sharp edges, of the metal sticking out of the floor when accessing the pipe. Last thought is that we were left with all the dirt & rock that was dug up, and had to find a way to dispose of it ourselves. Overall we are glad the Sewer Backflow valve is installed, and protects our basement from flooding from the street sewer lines backing up when there is heavy rain, I just think they should have spent the extra $32 on an sewer access box, and it would have been a "polished installation job", that wouldn't pose injury risks to the customer when accessing the backflow valve. ------- Last NOTE---- All Clear also controls aspects of customer posts on Google. When you click my uploaded images, it re-directs to ALL Clear Plumbing and pictures of their Van...... They control a lot of aspects of customers reviews on Google ----- word of caution -- Also when plumber was at our home, he asked me to fill out a Review/Feedback, and type it all in on their company supplied phone using your own email address.....That opens up reviews to being modified! I was told it was a New application the company uses. I mistakenly I entered my email address, but refused to enter a review on their company phone. Said I will enter it online with my other email address. ------- Update they removed my review from Google, and the pictures I had provided. read more
