I've been taking my pets to Dr. Hankes at All Creature's Pet Hospital in Gardendale, AL for several years now. They are a wonderful outfit. They reinvest regularly on the latest equipment and medicines. Their staff is exceptional practitioners and very friendly. I wouldn't ever consider taking my pets anywhere else even if I moved further away. I know my Yorkie is living longer because of Dr. Ted. I can't see little Rudy living longer without his intervention a couple of years ago. He is a top notch surgeon from a line of top notch veterinarian surgeons. my cousin took her cat to them on last week. she has been using this clinic since she moved to gardendale. the cat got recently and they told that he was a anemic. the cat was eating and losing weight drastically. they have taken her money and misdiagnosed her cat for about a week until she had to take him to mercy animal hospital were she was told the cat had cancer. Needless to say he had to be put to sleep and this has caused her much pain and money. my cousin is so distraught and in so much pain because her baby. please dont take your fur babies to this clinic!!!!! they only want your money!!! read more

Picked up our golden retriever from being groomed after her being there for EIGHT hours and she smelled horrible and was still wet.

I have 2 English Shepard's. One is 14 years old and has the beginnings of arthritis. I boarded them at a very expensive facility in Knoxville, Tennessee for 4 days. When I picked them up, the older one could hardly walk. When questioned, they told me they stay in a kennel except for 2 - 5 minute walks a day. I had seen the play yards at All CREATURES and have boarded my dogs twice since then. When I pick them up, they seem happy and the older one has no problems like before. I have called around. All boarding facilities near me keep them in kennels all day. My dogs will never board anywhere except at ALL CREATURES PET HOSPITAL. read more

Will not be back here ever. Cold Dr. can't offer sincere apology for killing your dog. Refuses to admit fault and keeps changing his story. The story told us by his office manager and the Dr. are 2 different stories. Irregularities in the "notes " contrast what he told us by phone. Many neighbors expressed their condolences for our loss and have told us of other bad experiences they had here. I lost my best friend. I can't recommend anyone bring their loved one here. read more

I understand that businesses are doing their best during Covid, but so are we as pet owners. I contracted Covid and due to quarantine was unable to take my dog to the vet. During that time he was due for his yearly and flea medication. He got infested with fleas and so did my apartment. Once I tested negative for Covid I had a lot of catching up to do with work and school. I immediately called this vet location that I have been going to for over 3 years and asked them if they could accommodate a one month flea treatment until I caught up at work and school and could make an appointment the upcoming week for my dogs yearly shot. I explained Covid, the infestation and discomfort my dog was experiencing. They said no, after three years of me taking my dog to this clinic they said no. We are supposed to be considerate of their accommodations due to Covid but they're not willing to accommodate their clients. Unfortunately I couldn't take a day off of work or school as soon as my test came back negative because I had been out of school and work for a month. I really thought this vet office would understand. It's not like I was asking for a six month supply. I asked for 1 month and to go ahead and schedule for next week. I confirmed just to be sure that with everything going on in the world right now they were going to allow my dog and therefore my apartment (can't fix one without the other) to stay infested with fleas because they couldn't understand that I had been off of work and school for a month and just needed one week before I could ask a day off to take the dog to the vet. They said yes sorry they would not help. To me that is not a veterinarian office that is putting the pets best interest at heart. I understand that he was due for a shot, What I don't understand is why I couldn't schedule that appointment, and pick up his medication to alleviate my dogs itching. Not the type of vet that I want caring for my baby. I immediately switched vet clinics where they first dealt and treated all of his flea bites, also allowed me to purchase flea medication and we scheduled the shots that prevented this vet from helping him in 2 weeks, on his follow up. Their biggest concern at the new clinic was the comfort of my dog and alleviating his pain. That confirmed to me that this was an option that could be done, all creatures Gardendale just failed to accommodate a pandemic, which is new territory, but also failed at caring for my dog, which should be something their familiar with. read more

I will not recommend this place after losing my bully here. My bulldog came in with an ear infection and because he was not cooperative he was sedated. While under, he supposedly "immediately stopped breathing" and died. It was very upsetting experience and to make it worse Dr. Hankes did not have the courtesy to come out to the car and explain the situation. He chose to tell us by phone and when we arrived to say our last good-bye, he never approached us or showed any sympathy. The least you can do is have the respect to tell us in person that our healthy bulldog died under your care. I understand times Covid and maintaining social distancing but it was very disrespectful not to approach the owners. read more

Mr Hankes has treated my Dogs for several years. The staff is always nice and courteous. They upgrades their interior and have made the location very nice. My dogs have stayed there several times for out of town trips. I trust the staff and Dr. Hankes since he has done a good job the past 15 years. read more

My experience with All Creatures has been limited to the daycare service. My dog attends daily and LOVES it. The staff is super friendly and cares about the animals. We have had nothing but pleasant experiences in person and over the phone. The only reason we have not yet used them for vet services is because we recently moved and have not had a need for them yet. When the time comes, I feel certain we will start with Dr. Hankes and Dr. Fuqua. I'll update my review at that time. read more

I bought a groupon for their business. You couldn't be an existing client. My cat has never been there...we have had a dog groomed there about 5 years ago and I have bought flea/heart worm meds there through the years...but none of my pets have been a patient. I waited 30 minutes to be seen and then they say because of the above mentioned the groupon that I paid $67 for is not valid. Bad business...I walked out and they got no $$$. They could have made the $67 plus any meds my cat needed for his cough...plus all my future medicine needs....not smart! read more

I had a cat on a special diet. He had kidney failure. They were suppose to order k/d science diet for him. I went 4 times in a week to pick it up and every day they said they had ordered it and it just didn't come in. Finally on the 4th trip, one of the girls whispered to me that the lady that was supposed to be ordering it, just wasn't. I had to go on Amazon Prime and get it next day. On holidays they triple or even quadruple overbook boarding. They borrow crates and stack them one on top of the other. The animals urinate on each other and they try to bath them all before they are picked up. That is probably why one of the previous reviews pet stank so bad. Also, NEVER pay for one-on-one time. I have it on the authority of two people who have worked here, they are way to overbooked to give your pet any special time or so I have been told. Research your boarding like you do your kids daycare. Just saying.... read more

Recently we began taking our three dogs to All Creatures Pet Hospital; we transitioned from another practice. Dr. Hankes and his crew (Desiree, Allie, Catherine, Jackie, Ashley and Ellen) have been a true gift. Sadly, one of our dogs became heartworm positive despite being on a heartworm medication. Dr. Hankes was abreast of the literature and knew that the med we were using has a failure rate against resistant strains that came to this area following Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Hankes and his staff handled the transition of our three dogs with dignity, efficiency and professionalism. On a busy Saturday he worked us in and again the following Monday for "round two" of treatment. We were allowed to be with our dog during treatment and every step in the treatment was explained. We now have our dogs on a medication known to be effective against heartworm, including resistant strains. When Nick had a complication following treatment, Dr. Hankes and crew worked him in yet again and got him back to feeling better. It is a blessing to be in the care of a knowledgeable, kind and compassionate provider. read more

I've taken my 2 dogs to Dr. Ted many time in the last year or so and have had nothing but a great experience. I think he's a terrific and caring doctor and extremely knowledgeable. All of his staff are friendly and always on the move. They don't like it when people have to wait and they seem to work really hard to get to everyone. I also have had my 2 pets in the kennel there and I was invited to go back and see them anytime I wanted. I did go back to the kennels and the "condos" and they are extremely clean and beautiful. Dr. Ted is an Afghanistan Army Veteran so I'm really glad that my vet is a real vet! He saved my little dog from a heart problem that otherwise would have killed him. I went to Dr. Ted when the treatments he was getting in another Vet Clinic in Gardendale weren't having any affect. I've been please ever since. I won't go anywhere else. I've never thought I over paid either. read more

If you love your pet, would you take it to a vet that was going to do major surgery on it without administering pain medication afterwards? I had been very satisfied with All Creatures Pet Hospital on my fur baby's first visit. They seemed very caring and knowledgeable. Because of that, I decided they should be my "forever vet". When it came time to have my baby spayed, I was quoted a price of $140. It never occurred to me to ask if that included pain medication after the procedure. I just assumed that it did. When my fiance took her into the office this morning, the receptionist told him that she highly recommended paying an extra $31 for a pain shot after the procedure since it was a highly invasive procedure and she would be in considerable pain afterwards. WHAT?!? Why would anyone even think of cutting through skin and muscle and NOT including some form of pain control after the operation? To me that is simply inhumane, and no critter of mine will be left in the hands of a vet that would even consider making pain management an OPTION. She now has an appointment with another vet who has come highly recommended by friends and family members. That vet is charging $120, and YES, that price DOES include a shot that will manager her pain for 3 days after the operation. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use All Creatures, but I definitely encourage you to question if they will meet what might seem to you to be your pet's most basic needs. read more
