Had a reservation during the Coronavirus this spring and cancelled (obviously). They kept a $200 deposit even though we could not possibly go there. Will never attempt use their service again! The pictures online were totally different from when we got there. Everything needed to be updated. The mattresses on the beds had been previously soiled somehow. The stains were still there once we pulled the sheets off. The roof was leaking water in the middle of the living room. The house was halfway cleaned. We found an oxtail bone on the floor in the game room when we arrived. All of the bed pillows were flat. The pool table was busted all up, so we couldn't play that. The internet Wi-Fi wasn't getting good reception. The living room tv remote only worked half the time. Glad we only signed up for 2 nights. I will never return to that cabin rental location EVER AGAIN. read more

My crew & I stayed at "Above Raven Ridge" this past weekend. First let me start off by saying we had a great fun filled relaxing time. The cabin was just as beautiful as pictured. The beds were comfortable. And the kitchen was well stocked. The only 2 areas of improvement are as follows. 1. They have to do more to get rid of the ladybug infestation at this cabin. I was told that they spray once a month but there isn't much they can do since they ladybugs are protected by law in the area. I was advised to purchase some bug spray. I don't think this is something someone should have to worry about during vacation. I will say that the ladybugs are not like gnats or regular flies, so they don't swarm you. But it's a nuisance nonetheless. More needs to be done to get rid of them for future guests. 2. Is give more details on the website about the steepness of drive up to the cabin. The road was mostly gravel with some paved parts but the real issue is the steepness of the mountain you have to climb to get to this cabin. This cabin is literally just over the top of a ridge. So if you are scared of heights, please get someone else to drive. You do not need 4 wheel drive but you will need to be in 1st or 2nd gear to make it. I definitely do not recommend driving here at night. All of the turns in the road happen after going over a hill. Very scary. Other than those 2 things, the actual location of the cabin is absolutely beautiful. All representatives with the company were pleasant and very accommodating (beyond the ladybug issue). I would not hesitate to book another cabin with them in the future. read more

We stayed at Dogwood Dream for a few days. Cabin was excellent. Only issues was when asked if there was a Kurege coffee maker they said yes. We packed K cups only to find it didn't have one. Directions were alot to be desired, they were confusing. I would use Southern Comfort Cabin rentals again. read more

The management company was awesome and responds quickly to any after hours calls. Late on a Friday night we had questions about the gas fireplace and they answered promptly and helped us (we had never used a gas fireplace before) over the phone and even offered to come out to the cabin if we needed them to which ended up not being necessary. We stayed at "A Bit of Heaven"' and it was very clean, spacious, and the mountain views were spectacular. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and the game room. It was so relaxing we will definitely be going back again soon. We also had a complimentary early checkin which really helped since we had family coming from different areas. read more

Pool is not heated. "False advertisement". No one from office or owner will not fix or explain situation. The pool ppl said needed more gas. Easy solution, however problem not getting solved. Horrible customer service and false advertisement for the luxury pay. Holly in the office could not answer question. Owners were notified and no response. Pool lights out, fruit fly's ingested, and pool not heated with owner and company notifie. Treated like trash. read more

While visiting family in Alabama, we decided to take a side trip to Blue Ridge Georgia so my hubby could do some trout fishing. We found a cabin we liked that was offered by Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals. It was a great experience right from the beginning. The price on the cabin was amazing, booking was easy online and there was great follow up. When we got to the office to pick up the keys, staff was very friendly and helpful. They explained everything completely. The cabin was great, clean and everything we needed was there. Southern Comfort, you lived up to your name! This is my 2nd time staying at Above the Raven cabin. I give it one star because when you are reserving this cabin they do not warn you about the LADY BUG INFESTATION!!! At check-in They provide you with a flyer stating the possibility of a "seasonal swarm" and that the cabin is professionally sprayed once a month but they fail to tell you that the possibility turns into a "definite" if the cabin temperature Rises above 68 degrees!!! Which means you have to choose between freezing or being attacked by lady bugs!!! The second thing is the lack of out outlets. For a cabin that is set up to sleep 10 people we all struggled to find outlets to charge electronics and they were all inconveniently located. My friends and I have been taking an annual cabin trip for the past 10+ years and this is the first time that we all agreed that we will be sure to NEVER stay in ABOVE THE RAVEN AGAIN. But to be fair overall we have not been unhappy with Southern Comfort Rentals. We did get a call from the office to ask how our stay was going and when we told them about the bug problem we were told that there was nothing they could do. We understand that you can't control nature but people should be told about the issue upfront. read more

Our extended family planned a long weekend together and reserved with Southern Comfort on the advice of some friends. The size of the house was perfect for a large get together. Ample room, great deck with amazing views large sized bedrooms with relatively comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking almost any kind of meal. The place was pretty affordable, but very inconsistent in what you're getting for your buck. Here are some annoying problems: 1) The overhead lighting in the main rooms are ultra bright LEDs that light up like a WalMart with no ability to dim or control the levels. This would be okay if there were enough alternate light sources like lamps but unfortunately there was only one torch and two table lamps (one not working). So, at night you're hard pressed to create any kind of relaxing atmosphere. 2) In most of the bedrooms there is a dresser, but no place to place luggage: no chairs, no luggage stands. 3) There are a minimum of bedside tables and oddly placed electrical outlets in the bedroom. In the cabin paperwork you're told not to move the furniture but none of the placement of tables is near an outlet for any of your electronics. 4) The hot tub was completely unusable due to the previous renters had clogged all of the pipes with glow sticks.The company did not check of these prior to our group coming in and after 1.5 days of trying to get it addressed, the handyman finally found the source of the problem. read more

Really enjoyed our stay at Southern Grace. Beautiful little cabin on a paved road with great views. Sitting on the deck and walking around the "neighborhood" were so peaceful. Hardly saw another soul. Cabin was well appointed with everything we needed. We brought our dogs and liked that upper and lower decks fully contained so dogs could roam freely without leashes. Only complaint is beds are very soft which you may or may not like. Driveway entrance is narrow. Fine for a car or SUV but if you have something bigger may want to ask. Driveway also a bit steep which may be tricky in winter if snow and ice. Would be happy to stay here again. read more

Our last experience with Southern Comfort Rentals was less than ideal. The cabin we rented, Silent in the Morning, had issues upon check-in that were never resolved, but the main issue was the total lack of customer service provided by Southern Comfort. They really dropped the ball this time. 1) The hot tub did not work until our last day. When we initially checked in on Wednesday, the water was a dirty brown color and 89 degrees. The maintenance team came out to drain and refill to try to resolve the issue.   Although the color improved, it still remained a light brown and was very off putting. According to maintenance, it was technically safe, so our two daughters were FINALLY able to use it on the morning we checked out.   My husband and I were grossed out by the color and did not get in. As far as the temp, we were told it would take about 4-6 hours to reheat, but since that process started on Wednesday and did not complete until Friday afternoon, there was clearly more going on. 2) HVAC - there's only one unit and thermostat in this 3 story cabin. Therefore, there was no way for all 3 floors to be at a comfortable temp at the same time. My husband and I were upstairs burning up because the lower floor with our daughters was an icebox. This was a constant pain. Had we known there was only one unit, we probably would not have rented this property. 3) One of the bathrooms had a make-shift shower curtain rod that was made of two differently-sized pipes put together with no tension.  While my daughters were bathing I adjusted the shower curtain and the entire contraption fell into the tub with my daughters in it.  While the pipes were not heavy, this is still a safety concern. 4) The master bedroom bed had the wrong sized pillow cases.  While this is a minor issue this should be a standard expectation. The house was very nice and had great views. What made this experience so awful was the management company itself. One of the main reasons we rented this cabin was for the hot tub. Since we didn't even get to use it, we expected Southern Comfort to take some kind of ownership and try to fix the situation. We have now been home from this trip for over a week and still have not heard from the manager. Each time, WE have initiated the phone calls and have been put off. Apparently the customer service manager has been on vacation, but this was never communicated to us. If they cared about their image and keeping repeat customers, I'd expect better customer service. We will never do business with Southern Comfort again and urge anyone considering renting from them to think twice. read more

Stayed at waters edge and we were extremely disappointed. We have been to Blue Ridge every year for 7 years straight and this was our worst experience so far. The house was extremely dirty and not kept up whatsoever. Cobwebs everywhere indoors along with dirty outdoor furniture, dirty bathrooms and overall the house is falling apart. The only thing nice about this house is the boat dock. Will never use this agency again if this is representative of what they offer! read more

These guys are the absolute worst! Please don't ever use this company. My family and friend stayed at this property in June 2021 and were swarmed with bed bug bites all over our bodies during our stay, after coming home only to find out that the bed bugs got transferred to our houses. We had to pay over $1000 dollars to get an exterminator plus other things to get rid of them, which the whole process of exterminating took a month, bagging everything, taking apart our beds and washing and drying everything in the house. We also had to take numerous days off from work because of the location of the bites being visible to clients, for the safety of co-workers in case it spreads in the office, and to set up the house for the extermination. We contacted them numerous times to let them know about the situation and that we would like a refund and their response was that they have no bed bugs and won't be compensating us for anything. They also just kept saying through out this whole ordeal that the property manager was not in and would contact us back which took over a month for even a response. We sent pictures of our bites, our invoices for the extermination and bed enclosures that we had to purchase for the extermination and still said it's not their fault. I hope this review is seen by everyone and know that they have no intention of helping you guys out if you have any problems. read more

This was our first time to blue ridge as well as our first time renting a cabin and we were pleasantly surprised . The cabin we stayed in was called Choctaw mountain lodge and it was beautiful . The location was great as well . The cabin has a nice view of the mountains and was less then 5 minutes from Main Street and the cute little shops . Buyer Beware!!!! There is a pattern with this company. We booked a cabin several months ago and they called and cancelled our reservation about 30 days before our scheduled arrival. They offered us 1 rental which was not comparable at all and really could have cared less about disappointed. They explained that this was well within their rights according contract we signed. I will never use this company again. Now our vacation is ruined and it's too late to book anywhere else. Very shady company!!! read more

We booked a vacation on at one of the cabins managed by southern cabin rentals. Our trip was booked 9 months in advance, and involved 12 people traveling from different parts of the Country. Once they took all of our money, which was about 40 days before our vacation, southern cabin called me and canceled. They said "sorry for the inconvenience but your cabin is no longer one of our rentals. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIECE?!?! This vacation that we all soooo looked forward to for nearly a year had to be canceled. We wish we went with a betterj rental agency-one that wouldn't cancel our trip last minute. We were offered other places to stay that were In NO WAY COMPARABLE to the one we were supposed to stay (like they seriously sent us a 2 bedroom option for 12 people. Our house we chose had 5 bedrooms) They offered us NO compensation (and I asked for it) for our boat rental we had to cancel and our air fairs which was non-refundable. I think this should be illegal. Wanted everyone to know in the hopes that this doesn't happen to you and your family. read more

We used them for a corporate management retreat and it made for one of the most productive management meetings we've ever had. The Bearly Roughing It property gave us a beautiful view and a great space to both work hard and unwind and relax. Property was in fantastic shape and it was so nice that we took advantage of the full property for our meetings. Early in the morning we setup shop at the table on the deck. In the afternoon, we worked on the table in the kitchen, and in the evening, we gathered around in the basement with a bourbon in hand and a hot tub a few feet away. Great time, great property, great company, and great experience. Horrible experience renting from Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals - would not recommend! Last month we stayed at an apartment rented through Southern Comfort Rentals in Blue Ridge, GA. We live in the area and had to rent multiple places in Blue Ridge as our home sold faster than expected and the new place wasn't ready. We knew of Southern Comfort Rentals as well as the rentals selected - we were actually looking forward to a little "mini" vacation as we waited to move into our new home - what a huge let down this experience actually turned out to be ... Booked a large 2 bed/2 bath apartment. Upon arrival at the location we encountered an strange odor in the elevator and the lobby leading to the apartment. Thought it was something temporary,,, that was not the case. The odor became more foul every day and was becoming more evident in the apartment. Called and left messages at the office - no return call. The next day when we returned from a long day out, the smell was worse than before - called their "after hours" number. The gentleman that answered the phone was very nice and very responsive. He tried to help. After multiple calls between him, us and him calling the manager, we finally requested she call us directly. Discovered property management was aware the day we checked in that there was an issue with some "unknown" odor at the location. No one informed us. No one contacted us to inquire about our stay. Not sure what was causing the horrific odor --- whether it was sewer, something dead in the elevator, or what --- just that it was awful and it had gotten worse after each passing day . After the speaking with the manager, we were informed that the owner of the building was aware of the problem and he was to rectify the issue in the building. Well we weren't renting from the 'building owner' we were renting from Southern Comfort, as such they needed to handle the issue being experienced by their renters. (Whatever needed to be worked out between the building owner and Southern Comfort wasn't our problem and it shouldn't impact the quality of our stay as they were both receiving revenue). We asked if the horrific smell was coming from the sewer system - "no, it's some sort of plumbing problem, we thought it was fixed yesterday" (apparently no one took the time to verify if it had actually been fixed) We were concerned if there was a sewer problem/back up, the fire department should probably come out and check the gas/odor in the building for general safety of everyone. We were informed there was no need to call the fire department. *** Dealing with the 'manager' was such a painful experience *** After our direct request to be moved to another location, she initially she offered to move us to something "non comparable, not as nice as our current location" (her words). That was not acceptable. We asked to move to another specific property (we had checked their site and knew it was available - but it was rented at a higher daily rate) - she begrudgingly said we could move us there for the remaining nights of our stay - BUT we could NOT ask for any additional "compensation" for the 3 nights we had already stayed in their horrible foul smelling apartment. Unbelievable. At this point we just wanted to be some place with clean air. Such a horrible experience on every level - from the space we paid for, to the response of 'management' - just awful. For many years I managed organizations that provided services in large corporate environments - I know how challenging customer service can be. I also realize while providing services things can happen outside of your control, but you still have to handle those situations. Good customer service happens with how you respond during those occasions and how your customer/client feels after their interaction with you. In our recent interactions with Southern Comfort the delivery of quality customer service was missed on every single level. Can not recommend their services. read more

My husband and I booked our anniversary trip. I called a few weeks before our reservation and was assured everything was in order and good to go. I call back the day we are supposed to leave to let them know we will be arriving after hours and they tell me that the booking did not go through. This is after my husband called to schedule the reservation over the phone AND I called to ensure the reservation was complete and ready. They were absolutely unwilling to help us mitigate the situation and genuinely acted like they couldn't care less. If you have the option - go through one of the other cabin companies in blue ridge, such as, Georgia Mountain Cabin Rentals, to ensure this doesn't happen to you. Utterly disappointed and this trip was for our first year wedding anniversary. read more

The cabin we rented "view from the top" was poorly maintained and filthy. Our families take an annual cabin trip to Blue Ridge and this experience was by far the worst. The list of things wrong with this cabin was long but ultimately it was unsafe (ladder on bunk beds missing screws, posts missing from stair railings, etc.) and unsanitary (rats nest in grill, multiple pet hairs on beds, etc.). We tried to work with Southern Comfort to come to a resolution following our bad experience but they were willing to do very little. Therefore, we would not recommend this company to others. There are wonderful cabins and other companies in Blue Ridge and we would advise others that want an enjoyable experience to look elsewhere. read more

Great website, clean and organized office, friendly staff, and incredible selection of cabins. They suggested a number of great places for us to visit with our 20 month old daughter. We took my 85 year old mother up for Thanksgiving and stayed at the Cold Creek Cottage.We usually go to Gatlinburg but decided to try someplace different this year. Since it was a holiday week we had to pay a premium rental price for the cottage. What a horrible stay...They was a major fly infestation and we spent the entire time with fly swatters in our hands. We could not enjoy out Thanksgiving dinner as we had to keep swatting the flies.We contacted the office and they did send someone out to put fly traps out but by that time the vacation was ruined. After speaking with management the only thing they offered was 10% off. I will never go through them again for a cabin rental. Kim was very nice from the rental office but after dealing with management and the small amount that they offered for the horrible time we had I would NOT recommend them.I only wish I would be able to contact the property owner to let them know how badly they are handling their property. read more
