They only left my title and one star. This company is a total scam. They have photos of the property that only resemble the property itself. Let me explain that we had a family reunion in Manistee on the 4th of July, and had booked it we THOUGHT through VRBO, almost a year in advance 2025 for 8.5K however once I received the email, I merely followed the link. Also note, Manistee gets booked solid annually every year since the early 1930's so when we arrived and saw the condition of the place we had ZERO options to stay elsewhere. We had a family reunion. We had to try and make the best of it. On VERBO photos show VACASA as the managing partner with pristine manicured lawn and garden all around the property. They had a strict no smoking rule on the entire property as well as strict no partying rule. The photos showed staged beds-all with beautiful quilts and pillows. The large dining table with a lovely table cloth. When we arrived the lawn was ankle deep and the garden overgrown to the extent it looked like a haunted house. The garbage close to the entrance in multiple garbage pails were over flowing and flies were infesting and just everywhere as we walked up to the entry. We unlocked the door, there were two entry doors, one knob came off. The floor and stairs were filthy. There was actual dried poop in the only downstairs toilet with various implants stuck in it. The dining table was broken, no tablecloth. The bathrooms staged, not cleaned. When I picked up the silicone hair trap in one tub the sludgy hair mass that hung from it was gag producing. Two beds had nothing but sheets. Nothing else. Curtains were grimy, filthy and on bent temporary rods. When we attempted to call for help--good luck. You do not reach anyone local who owns the property or who cares for the property. You just reach their customer service that gives platitudes and do nothing. When I asked for only a partial refund they gave me --get this $250 cleaning fund back. YEAH THANKS! It was NEVER CLEANED, of course they had to give me my cleaning fund back! They flatly refused any other credit for compensation for FIXING THEIR TOILET FULL OF FECES OURSELVES! Or for CLEANING THE HOUSE OURSELVES! Or for not being able to use the yard to play all the games we brought because it was so overgrown! What we saw in the ad, what we paid for was NOTHING like what we got! BEWARE OF THESE SCAM ARTISTS!

On the day off (I may have gotten it the night before but checkin wasn't until 3pm anyway), I received another email and text with the actual address, my cabin name and the pin code to get inside. I actually like this. It's a safety measure. So onto the review.... What can I say? I love this place and it's likely going to be my little secret (amongst my friends anyway ) for as long as I can keep it a secret. These Getaway Cabins are popping up across the country. I had no clue until a night was gifted to me that they existed. After checking out their Instagram and seeing all the rave reviews I decided to book my visit in February. New car. Road tested. Let's go! Did I mention I'm a little afraid of death drops off the side of mountainous roads? Yeah, there's that but I survived going up and coming down those sharp twisty turny roads without looking at those drops. About halfway up I pulled over to take a pic of a mini waterfall and graffiti art on the mountain wall. My picture probably doesn't do it justice but it was dope. Moving along through confederate country. Finding the cabins from the road wasn't hard. Finding my cabin was a little tricky for me for some reason. I think it was because I printed the map without enlarging it and my eyes aren't as young as they used to be. But when I did I was so pleased. All the cabins have people names and I stayed in Doreen. This was a middle of the week visit so it was actually quiet but fairly partially inhabited. There are trails to walk (it rained while I was there so I skipped it). All the things you might need (some for an extra but small fee) are available to you including prepackaged food. The bed was super comfy and the cabin cozy. If you have a pet, they have a food bowl under the sink. They provide cookware and utensils. There's a mini fridge and a 2 eye range. The views are picturesque. Simply beautiful and tranquil. I plan to stay at least 3 days next time. I didn't partake in any of the outside options (fire pit, trails) because of the rain but next time I hope to be able to fire up the pit. I've mentioned the rain a couple times but it was indeed a gift. If you've ever experienced the sound of rain hitting a tin roof, then you know based on my very short stay, I literally drove 4 hours from home to get the best sleep of my adult life. The only complaint I had, was I lost hot water midway of my shower. Not cool for a girl living with anemia but I survived. It's taken me a minute to review because I posted the pics and I simply forgot. What I will do next time for my more extended stay: buy food to cook. I didn't use any of the food they supply (for a fee) but I would have had I not had some keto food with me. Which leads to my next thought, not off carbs next time. I passed some places I'd like to dine at and there's no point skipping carbs . I'll also be sure to walk the trail. I'd also bring a cooler with drinks so they're cold until the fridge is turned on and cold. The fridge is turned off upon arrival and it took forever to get my drinks cold. Last, I'll bring someone I really like. Final word, I love this little getaway and it's perfect for anyone who wants to disconnect (there's no Media access of any kind and cell service is patchy). I slept. I read. I reflected. Then I slept some more. It was awesome. Oh yeah, I agree with the first reviewer about what to bring. While mosquitos weren't my issue (it was February), there were lady bugs EVERYWHERE. But I couldn't kill them. I just couldn't. They mostly kept to the walls.

Yeah, I see a therapist. lol. In order to turn things around, while scrolling on the 'gram, I saw Getaway. (Damn you, targeted ads. How did you know I love the outdoors and can't resist certain millennial-influenced excursions?) I told shawty, and we booked night. Simply go on their website, choose the date(s), enter how many adults (and if you're bringing your pup), and start planning. Things we brought that you should bring: - Food: they have cans and some instant stuff, but I wouldn't call anything substantial (or particularly healthy). - Bug spray: The mosquitos didn't come out in full force, but no one wants to be eaten alive. - Metal tongs with rubber grip: I used the wooden ones from the kitchen - I hope they don't charge me - and got by. - Clothes: For obvious reasons. Don't forget sandals and windbreaker in case it rains. - Toiletries: Toothpaste, toothbrush, etc... - Dish soap: They provided hand soap, but no dish soap to wash plates, bowls, silverware, etc. What they provided: - Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap - A comfy bed (which could use a heavier comforter/ blanket) w/ four pillows - Running water - Full-functioning toilet - Electricity - An easy-to-use campfire with a fire starter kit and logs - Complimentary s'more kit - Cellphone lockbox, things to do during your getaway, and more The morning of the Getaway, they emailed and texted the address of the location. (An entire area exists in the Blue Ridge Mountains.) Since the location resides in the boonies, I suggest downloading an offline map in order to help you navigate there. GuruMaps or even utilize Google Maps' offline feature. If you don't, you're sort of screwed trying to find it. Regarding prices, they vary. Sometimes you can find a deal if you book late. We paid around $140, but saw nights (last minute) for $90. Overall: If you're looking to for a unique way to spice things up, or in my case figure out my crazy love life, Getaway might be a good option for ya.

All the cabins are uber dog friendly (sorry my feline friends) with providing free amenities - a large pet bed, food and water bowls, toys, treats & beach towels. There's no size, weight limits, breed restrictions, or pet deposits...where's the love for the Kats? The nearby Benton MacKaye Hiking Trail is easy to access during daylight & all pathways leading to the main road is gravel. We will be back to try another of the many cabins that the Sliding Rock Property Management offers. I strongly suggest looking at the rental terms & requirements before reserving as there are many to agree & adhere to.

And the other thing was the wall heater was set to a temperature and we couldn't make it warmer. They had a space heater but it was a very cold night and I was still cold inside.

The bed definitely needs new pillows, as the current ones are very lumpy. Upon arrival, the concierge was very welcoming and made a special point to explain how the hotel has a partnership with Paul Thomas Chocolates in Dahlonega. She gave us a coupon that said (and she very explicitly said) it was good for one free piece of chocolate bark *per person* in the party, so my partner and I were entitled to a total of 2 free pieces of chocolate. When we took the coupon to the chocolate shop, the young man working there refused to honor it. He said he had always been told to give one piece of chocolate only. We asked him to read the coupon again because this was not what it stated, nor was it what the concierge said. He still refused. My boyfriend told him that the partnership needed to fix their coupons if they weren't going to honor them. Anyway, the cabin was clean and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable other than the pillows. Sheets were buttery soft. Overall I was happy with our stay.

We stayed in cabin 1 and our friends stayed in cabin 4 for a week. I agree with other reviewers that there is a great deal of peace and tranquility at this country location. The view of the grass area and mountains is incredible. I also agree that the owner is kind. There was plenty of room and the price was very reasonable. Everything to to make meals was there with the curious exception of silverware. There were exactly 2 forks spoons and knives. When we had our friends join us for meals they and to bring their silverware. The television was modern and lots of streaming channels to view when we wanted. Regarding internet, the property's internet was nonexistent for the first 3 days and then worked occassionally after that. None of our devices could connect very long. Curiously the Fire TV worked well the whole time. However there are several things which at first glance appear wonderful, but ....Upon initial opening of the door there was a pretty severe smell to the cabin - maybe mold. I just figured it needed to be opened up, but if you are sensitive you would have to turn around and leave. As I walked into the bedroom area I brushed against the log wall. I turned around in the bathroom and noticed my black top was covered in dust all along my side. I went to the kitchen sink for a glass of water and noticed the thick dust and then my eyes went up to the three quarter wall. The numerous silk plants were covered in cobwebs and dust. I noticed the smell from the kitchen sink and took up the right side drainer to find a thick ring of mold down the drain. Then I went to the bathroom area shower and noticed black/green mold all along the shower enclosure. There were dirty footprints all in the shower stall. Thinking I was staying here a week I couldn't deal with it. I spent about 2.5 -3 hours cleaning all of the curved log walls and dusting all of the bric a brac. Anything that I couldn't wash like the plants went outside on the porch for the rest of the week. I found some cleaning products inside and luckily there were plenty. I also bought a bottle of bleach and used the whole quart. The lampshades were covered in some stains and dust very thick. They really need replacing. The upholstered furniture is extremely worn and I suppose that is why there are throws on them. But the throws are just as old. There was all sorts of hair on one of them, not sure if it was human or animal. Additionally we found our bed to be severely firm. While this is normally a problem we went and bought a mattress topper that made it comfortable for the rest of the stay. After a few days we also found so that many things in the cottage were broken, including several vertical blinds, the lamp on the bedside attached to the wall didn't have a switch - broken off. A lamp for makeup didn't have a lightbulb. But it didn't matter because when plugged in it didn't work anyway. The large oval rug had a huge hole in it at the seam that caught my heel and iI almost fell. The cottages come equipped with gas fireplaces for the winter BUT THERE ARE NO SMOKE DETECTORS. I notified the owner on the first night of our stay and they were never provided. Our friend's cabin was just as unclean as ours. I didn't say anything to my friends and they had exactly the same reactions and observations as us. There is a game room in the front of the red barn that had lots of full size table games in it including air hockey, a billard table, a couple of slot type machines, and a foosball table. These are all in good working order. Unfortunately this room was just as broken down as parts of our cottage. It too DESPERATELY needed cleaning and repair of the pin ball machines and the juke box. It could be a fantastic place to hang out. There were also some video type games, but they were in disarray all over the floor so I don't know if they worked or not. I believe these cottages were very comfortable at one point in time, however they have really gone to disrepair and maintenance. With some infusion of investment and TLC and updates they could once again gain their luster.

The owners truly thought of everything, from extra batteries and firewood for the outdoor fireplace to all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay. The cabin was spacious, comfortable, and offered plenty of privacy thanks to the surrounding trees between neighboring cabins. Highlights included a fun game room with shuffleboard, an outdoor television, built-in bunk beds, a large dining table for gathering together, and three levels of sleeping areas that can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests. Check-in was incredibly easy. We were provided with a unique entry code and detailed directions, which were helpful since GPS could have led us to the wrong location. The views were beautiful, the neighborhood was quiet, and the entire experience was stress-free and enjoyable. I highly recommend this company, and especially this cabin on Trina Lane. If you're considering a cabin getaway, this is a fantastic choice.
