We started off really rocky. We were in the Goose Island cabin when we first got to north ga. Which upon arrival we discovered the description was very misleading. The only true part was the view, it was very nice. But cabin was very dirty and to get to cabin had to climb a huge hill of graval and mud. We all had to get out of van and run behind van so we could drive up hill. Once in cabin all rooms but master was on main floor. And those rooms didnt have bathroom in it. Master bedroom upstairs had wasp everywhere and dead ladybugs everywhere. The room was very hot and stuffy looked for vent, it was under bed covered in dust! Just like windows dusty and wasp/dead ladybugs. We called office told them one of the kids in our group is allergic they asked was their wasp spray we said no. Said she would send someone with spray. Opened kitchen cabinet under sink found a dead mouse it smelled horrible. Called again, said he would handle that when he cane too. We were only in cabin less then 1hour kids wanted to go to hotel. Called my husband he called up to office. Then we were moved to another cabin. This cabin was very nice clean and big! After we got settled in here our trip was great! So if you see Goose Island cabin don't stay but Lucille's creekside hideaway this cabin is great! read more

The pros: Very spacious, modern-take on a rustic cabin Jacuzzi-style tub indoors Nice modern kicthen Beautiful view of the mountains from the top level The cons: Roads leading to the cabin were terrible No bug spray + ants = annoying Directions were not 100% accurate - if driving in you should pair the directions they provide with Google Maps. DO NOT use Apple maps, as you will end up 20 mins from the actual destination... Or so we heard lol read more

This was the worst experience. Stayed at Skydancer in Blue Ridge and the cabin needed so much TLC. The kitchen linens had stains, the water and ice were brown, the hot tub (located inside) had a horrible smell and never worked. After calling they did not send anyone out to help. The bedspreads were so old and ugly, some of them smelled, there was dirt and or bug droppings in the silverware drawer, a window that didn't close and it was freezing downstairs. The furniture was very old and shaggy and gosh! The tv was an old box JVC tv that had a terrible picture. There was another box tv in the bedroom that was only hooked up to a vcr. Yes VCR, who uses those anymore? It's time to clean this cabin and bring it up to date. The staff at Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals offered me a discount of $37. I spent over $600 for a weekend and $37 wont cut it. Now they're ignoring me. I'd think twice before renting here. read more

We rented the Cardinals Nest over the 4th of July, and we were impressed with how clean the cabin was inside. It had plenty of room for the 4 of us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi and fire pit. The gas grill was also wonderful to use for our BBQs too. The only suggestion we thought would make it better, is if they would put a window in on the downstairs accommodation to look out to the Forrest view. We loved all the shade in the summer time, as it kept the outdoor temperature very comfortable. We all enjoyed the morning chirps if the birds too. I could just imagine if they ever had bird feeders out everything seemed to be 10-15 minutes away from the cabin. Which was fine with us. The closest waterfall was Falls Branch Fall I believe. It was approx 15-20 minutes drive away. The hike was not too taxing and the falls were kind of a two tiered fall. If we had more time, we would have done more in the area. We did see amazing lightening bugs, and mama deers and their baby's suckling If you need to get away, check out this gem. read more

We rented a cabin through Laurel Mountain Cabin Rentals 5/24/13-5/27/13 an found the condition of the cabin unsatisfactory. I contacted office on 5/28/13 and was instructed by Sharon(last name not provided) that I needed to contact Jennifer, my email contained the following list: 1. Hot tub has multiple jets that were missing or broke, and the cover is so saturated with moisture that it took the two of us to remove and replace. 2. The deck is very uneven and has multiple rotted boards, which are going to soon be a safety hazard. 3. The outside of the house has a carpenter bee program of epic proportions; you can see piles of sawdust everywhere including the covered porch on the back. 4. The swinging chair by the fire pit is moldy and cannot be utilized. 5. The fire pit cover is so rusted and full of holes we were afraid to remove it for fear it would fall apart. 6. The windows have not been cleaned; in fact the Kitchen window has the remnants of a wasp's nest and dead wasps still on the windowsill. 7. Every chair on the screened porch and outside had to be wiped down before we could sit down. 8. The remote control for the TV upstairs doesn't work, nor any of the flashlights throughout the house have working batteries. 9. The magazines in the house are from 2007, somebody should really consider discarding them and putting in newer periodicals. 10. The refrigerator door has a broken shelf. 11. Over half of the outside lights are either broken or need new bulbs, the ornamental lights that are broken should be disposed, 12. My wife found a pair of men's underwear under the bed when looking for an item she dropped. 13. There are no working clocks in the master bedroom 14. The sheets don't fit the bed, no mattress pad, and the bed skirt is ripped. 15. The kitchen needs to be cleaned and organized; they have enough utensils for three houses. After six weeks I contacted Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals and requested to speak to the owner and was informed that she wasn't available, I spoke to Sharon (Office Manager) and requested that my complaint be resolved and she informed me that Teresa was the only person in the organization that could approve and refunds. I waited one week and then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Mountain Laurel responded to my complaint by saying the none of the issues were valid and I was lying. We have been renting cabins in this area for over 16 years from various rental companies and have always found the cabins to be in good shape, if there are issues they are usually minor and Customer Service to be excellent. I have never had this sort of experience where my integrity was questioned and I cannot ever get a response from the company. read more

The cabin was lovely, well appointed, clean, had everything we needed. The fireplace made the place inviting and romantic. The hot tub was great. Even though the cabin slept 7, we had a great time with only 2 people there for the weekend. The price was an absolute steal. My only poor interaction was with the cabin attendant. We arrived that afternoon to pick up our keys. I paid for the reservations, and they were in my name. Despite this fact, the woman behind the counter insisted on speaking only to my friend. I'd hate to think it was because I was black and my companion was white....but it really made no sense. When explaining the directions, checkout procedures, everything, she didn't even make eye contact with me. I found this very off putting. I'm not sure if this would stop me from using Montain Laurel again. As I said, otherwise, we were absolutely satisfied with the cabin. read more

HORRIBLE! Our cabin was poorly appointed, appliances were not functioning properly (coffee maker did not work and had to light stove with a match), and the place was disgustingly filthy. The owner, Teresa, would not even send someone to look at the property. She was clearly interested in money, but not in hospitality. We took pictures of the grime, which she refused to view...so now we are disputing charges with the credit card company. Terrible experience. read more

Just stayed in Bella Vista this past weekend and had a great experience. There were 3 families and we had plenty of room. The view on the back porch was amazing and we spent a lot of time there. We have used this company for cabins over the last several years and have had no issues. It's not perfect but if you want perfect stay home and never leave your house. Always plenty of room. The settings of the cabins are always in beautiful locations. The biggest issue we have had is the road leading up to the cabins. It can sometimes be difficult due to steep inclines and can be a little scary in bad weather. But hey....that's half the fun. Other than that they are perfect for sleeping,eating and bathing. Who sits in the cabin all day???? Get out and enjoy the beautiful North Georgia mountains. read more

Don't rent the Lakeside Lodge on Lake Blueridge! This cabin is also marketed on Home Away/VRBO and the pictures on VRBO are NOT what you get at the cabin. While its bones are good, the whole place needs a lot of TLC before it should be rented again. The location and water are good. That's about it. The internet is really twitchy and was out most of the time we were there. That also included the Roku tv. The bed in the master bedroom was completely unusable. We went to go to sleep that first night and the whole thing tilted like a teeter totter. We lifted up the mattress and box spring to find out that the entire frame has only 1 slat holding it up, and the sideboard rail is also broken, further weakening the frame's ability to hold a mattress. Had to sleep in the 2nd downstairs bedroom. In that bedroom, one of the large windows was entirely missing its blinds so the morning sun hit us in the face, first thing. One of the bathrooms was missing the towel bar (as in it was broken, no bar at all). Oven door in kitchen wouldn't close all the way. Screened porch had small rips in the lower screens and the furniture was stained/filthy! One of the cushions was ripped with stuffing coming out. Down at the dock, there were 3 cheap upright chairs. 2 of which had the seats ripped out so you couldn't use those, either. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights. We requested to leave after 2. Home Away processed our original payment of over $1700 for the 4 nights. Mountain Laurel was supposedly only able to refund us $536 - which I was told was generous. They couldn't refund cleaning fees (even tho the cabin was not that clean when we got there) and they were only able to refund the portion that they get paid. So we essentially ended up paying $1200 for 2 nights. That's not looking generous OR fair from our standpoint! read more

I can't say enough good about Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals. Between myself and a friend we have probably rented from Mountain Laurel a dozen times or more. Mountain Laurel has a wide variety of cabins available in North Georgia. I also like they have a dedicated search on their site for cabins that rent for less than $100. When you're looking for a quick, inexpensive weekend getaway it comes in handy. I also have to compliment Mountain Laurel on their customer service. In the off chance something goes wrong they strive to make it right. And they are truly some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with. I've only had problems once at a Mountain Laurel cabin and within 48-hrs had been contacted by their office and they had made things right (even though the problems I had were truly out of their control). This company used to be decent, they have gone downhill. Stay away! Last two times were horrible. When we stayed with them on New Years, the cabin we had didn't have internet (which they promised) and the roof was infested with rats. You could hear them move at night and one of the guests saw a rat on the dinner table at night... Management just apologized and said that they will investigate. We made a mistake by using them for our summer getaway / birthday celebration. We booked over a month in advance, but a week before the rental they said the cabin is unavailable and we have to find something else. Of course, with only a week before the date of arrival we couldn't find anything decent for that about of money. So we have to now cancel our celebration, booked pet and baby sitters. Mountain Laurel Cabin Rental is absolutely awful. The customer service at this cabin rental is terrible. They are only interested in money and not satisfying their customers. They will charge you for unnecessary things and blame you for things you did not do and accuse you of lying. When we arrived at the cabin, the propane on the grill was left on, the hot tub was on and dirty. There is no way they clean the hot tub after every new customer. Both shower drains were stopped up, so we were standing in our own filth while showering. And the WORST thing was there was blood on BOTH mattresses in both rooms. After checking out, we were charged for the security deposit because the bed "needed professional cleaning." The stains were there before we got there but we are charged for it. There was terrible communication and the lady in the office did not write down the correct check out date. We ended up being charged for an extra night when their online promotion was after 2 nights, the 3rd night is free. We have yet to get our refund. DO NOT USE MOUNTAIN LAUREL CABINS. they are dirty, rude, and manipulative. read more

We rented, Tranquility, 107 Tee Pee Trail. Which does not exist, anymore. FIRE 9-24-19. 3 dirt roads to top, great view, as I planed on painting and relaxing. our 20th anniversary. We arrived 9-21-19. We come up each year and decided to try a different cabin company. The House was quite nice, perched on edge of mountain top. On 9-24-19 we got up to go for a drive to Amicalola Falls. Thank god or this could not be written. We left at 9:30 am, Had a great time at falls. We were on way back to cabin at 12:30 when we got the call. YOUR CABIN IS ON FIRE. Not where are you?, Is your husband with you, just on fire, and fire dept there. I find out fire dept was called at 11:00 am. They told us when we arrived. Why 1 1/2 hours before call. After first call we got another, Don't bother going back, totally gone. I was in shock and could not believe it, so we went back. Fire dept let us go up to home after walking down mountain rd. They were still there dealing with hot spots. I have pictures. Cabin co. stated owners had insurance. they put us up in another cabin, which smelled of cat, on a horrible road. We had NOTHING except clothes on our back and our car. We got up next morning, had to back car up mountain to get out. We then drove 11 hours home to Fla. We submitted Itemized list of everything we lost, 2 weeks worth, art supplies, clothes, computer, jewelry...much more. over 3 weeks ago. Cabin rented by, Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals. Insured by Blue Ridge Ins. We finally got out of them. Today I received a email from ins. company. It states "owners of property do not have coverage for others", INCLUDING RENTERS. Yet Mountain Laurel rentals are renting to customers for weeks at a time. And they say nothing is covered. HOW CAN THAT BE. What if we didn't go for that drive, would it cover loss of life? How can a company take that responsibility on. We have 3 parties at fault here, Owners of cabin, Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals, and Blue ridge ins company. Rental company, owners, ins, no one has reached out. Except a private Fire investigator hired by home owner. He asked me questions for a hour. Missy at ins company stated cause was unknown, as far as she knew. NO commutation from anyone. Except now 4 weeks later we are SCREWED. I have lots of pictures. Everything was direct connect to giant propane tank on side of home, hot tub, grill all appliances in house. When was last gas inspection?? What if your child fell off porch, or down step driveway or worse. NOT COVERED. I need proof of this. No one will tell me anything. Home was totally gone in a very short time, forest around did not burn. Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals, will not provide us their ins info. after asking daily for 4 weeks. We rented a cabin during the first week of January, which also happened to be during the "great freeze." Unfortunately, our pipes froze during the first night there and we had no running water. They were unable to be repaired and we had to move cabins. The weather is out of their control, I understand, but it took them an entire day to have someone even come out to check it and then told us about 5pm about the move. Nonetheless, that was our only complaint. The cabins both were beautiful and well maintained and the staff was friendly and--for the most part--helpful. Blue Ridge is a wonderful area. I highly recommend taking an hour drive to Helen and Unicoi State park where you will find some gorgeous waterfalls. read more

My husband and I rented a cabin for a romantic getaway over Christmas and New Years from Mountain Laurel. It was a disaster from the first 5 minutes of our arrival. Here is how our experience went... Arrival...front porch had huge rug at the top of the stairs-it was raining, rug was soaked and was causing us to track water into cabin. Decided to move it out of the way only to find a huge pile of dog poop someone had tried to cover with the rug! So, since there was no way to avoid it, spent my first 20 minutes of trip trying to get dog poop off of the porch. NICE. Next, master bedroom had a comforter on the bed that was covered with big, yellow stains. I don't know about you but yellow stains on a comforter bring t to mind only one thing...yuck! Stripped off the comforter only to find that the red fitted sheet underneath was covered in dog hair! I was so grossed out that we got in truck and drove to the store and bought blankets, sheets and pillow cases. Wish I would have waited to take that trip to the store b/c that night as we got ready to take a shower found towels under the sink that were easily 10 years old. I am talking stained, ripped and discolored towels. I used one of my t shirts to dry off instead. Trip #2 the next day for towels. And the worst of all was that on New Years eve we planned to get in the hot tub and celebrate the new year with some wine and bubbles. NOT. Opened cover to find water filthy dirty with an oily residue on it and a stench that you couldn't pay me to submerge myself in. Wow, what a huge disappointment! I contacted the office and was told they would give me a 10% discount. LMAO...so, me cleaning poop, buying blankets, towels and not being able to use the indoor hot tub that I paid (significantly) for is only worth a 10% discount I will be sure to post this review on Google, Trip Advisor, Yelp, and any other sites I can find. ...never again Mountain Laurel. Company misrepresented cabin rental and has poor customer service. My husband and I rented Fisherman's Cove from Mountain Laurel Cabins. We were celebrating our 5th anniversary. We chose Fisherman's Cove because of its location on Lake Blue Ridge and the private swim dock advertised in the rental online. Upon arrival the grass was literally knee high which means the property is not being maintained properly. Had the inconvenience of listening to the grass being cut that day. The supposed private swim dock that we were so excited to use was broken and had been completely removed from the water. No swim dock for us to use. First night there - 15 neighbors from down the road (NOT next door neighbors) showed up and had a lake party ALL night directly in front of our rented cabin. They were there till the next morning around 11:00 am. Same day - the kitchen flooded while washing a load of dirty dishes. We called the emergency number and it was repaired. Repair man stated it was due to a leaky seal. We were looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend but instead had to deal with issues ALL weekend long. I called to speak with management upon arriving back home to request a partial reimbursement due to major cabin rental issues. I was told by management the following in regards to my issues: 1. The grass was cut while I was there - what's the big deal. BIG DEAL THAT I WAS BOTHERED BY HAVING TO LISTEN TO THE MOWER WHILE TRYING TO RELAX ON MY VACATION. 2. I supposedly was informed that we could use the neighbors swim dock while we were staying there. WE WERE NOT TOLD THAT. 3. I was told the reason the dishwasher leaked was because I somehow improperly loaded it. NOT TRUE- IVE LOADED HUNDREDS OF DISHWASHERS AND THEYVE NEVER LEAKED. I HAVE A LETTER FROM THE REPAIR MAN STATING IT WAS A LEAKY SEAL. Management offer me a 10% discount which was insulting considering all we went through with Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals. We will never use this company again and advise anyone considering using them to NOT. Save yourself the trouble. read more

Stayed at Mt. Rivers Lodge and loved it. Plenty of room and has everything you need to stay for extended vacations. The kids will enjoy the loft and so will you. It gets them out of your hair for a while. The porch is the best of all. Sit and relax as you listen to birds in the morning with your cup of coffee. Not too far from the casino in Murphy. About 1/2 hour. Blue Ridge is just down the road. Plenty to do. Relax and enjoy. We sure did and look forward to returning soon. Cheers. read more

We stayed in the cabin "Moon Shadow" the first weekend in May. On our arrival and waiting to be able to access the cabin, we saw how dirty the exterior porches, hot tub area, and outdoor living area was. The porches has not been swept in quite some time in fact the still had last years leaves on them. The inside of the cabin was relatively clean, but just looked run down from years of abuse in the rental program. We were never able to get the fireplaces to light for some reason. The propane tank in the grill was empty so we had to pay $23 to exchange it so we could grill the steaks we brought with us. The cushions for the outdoor living room were stained and dirty. The outdoor television that looks so wonderful on the website doesn't even work. The hot tub had a brown scum line around the waterline so we didn't even want to get in that! We sent an email explaining our concerns to the representative who helped us book the cabin, and never got a response. We have stayed in several cabins in the area through other cabin rental companies and have always had great experiences. I am definitely not impressed with Mountain Laurel's customer service and upkeep of this particular cabin. I would recommend using "Stress Buster" cabin rentals. We had a great experience with Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals. From start to end -- everything was just as it should have been. We ended up checking in 2 days earlier than our original date due to Hurricane Florence. The staff in the office responded fast and professionally to any questions I had. The road to get to the cabin we stayed in was a little hard (I had a car) but otherwise doable if you know how to drive mountain roads. My parents stayed in another cabin and had a tree fall over the road on the way back to their cabin. Called the office and they immediately got on the phone with their maintenance person and got the information needed. Blue Ridge was great. The train from Blue Ridge to McCaysville, GA was a great addition to our trip. I will definitely use Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals again in the future. read more

After reading some of the reviews (after I made the reservation) I felt worried. My family ended up having a great stay! Granted, the utencils werent all clean but each guest is suppose to handle that themselves. Everything else was clean. The cabin was also well appointed eventhough I have severe back issues so the bed wasn't comfortable at all to me my family had no issue and slept well. I loved the views! read more

I LOVE this company!! I have rented thru Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals twice and have had a fabulous experience each time. The staff is fabulous! They are thorough, courteous, and they want their guests to have the best possible experience. I rented Indian Rock Lake in December 2016. This cabin was gorgeous and meticulously clean. The guest services associate even called me a few hours before check in to notify me the cabin was ready, and we could get in early! Great service. The owners did a beautiful job decorating their cabin to the optimum level of comfort. Previously I have rented Mountain (I believe it was 2012) and it was a fantastic experience as well. Both of these cabins were spotless and so perfect for our needs! I love this company and will continue to rent from them for years to come! Highly recommended. read more

We just returned home from staying at The Wolf's Den and were very disappointed. First of all, there was so much dog hair in the cabin that we noticed it immediately. It had been raining and smelt like a wet dog. You could smell the couch pillows across the room. Then, we went to set up the couch bed and it was completely broken. The cabin is suppose to sleep 6. (two bed and a pull-out couch) There were 5 of us. Took about 30 minutes to get the couch to open because the metal underneath the bed was completely broken and wedged closed. Once we finally got it open, the bottom of the bed laid on the floor and one of the metal pieces underneath completely fell off.... I was going to go ahead and put two of my kids on the bed anyway and quickly discovered there wasn't a single clean sheet in the entire cabin. So, my kids definitely couldn't sleep on the dog-hair covered couch with no sheets. We ended up cramming us all into the two beds and not sleeping. Would have never stayed in this cabin if I had known that the cabin actually only slept 4. I also contacted Mountain Laurel on several occasions (info email, property manager and spoke to the office staff in person upon check-out) and have gotten no response about any of these complaints. I feel like this cabin was a huge waste of money and am feeling frustrated that no one has responded to any of my messages. read more

We used this company at last moment notice (that being 3 months before our visit). They were pleasant to talk to and cannot fault there. The cabin we stayed at was "A Heavenly View." It appeared as if cleaning rushed through. There were cheetos, crumbs and used water bottles on the floor. Our second full day there was brown water coming through the faucets and commodes. They sent someone up and he got there around 4. He did what he could and was pleasant to talk to. But this did not correct the issue. I would try this company again, because I do give second chances. We did not tip housecleaning as we always have in hotels and cabins because of the for mentioned issues. There is not sufficient blankets for the colder nights if anyone sleeps downstairs. Next time we plan on planning more in advance in order to use our regular company as this has become a yearly tradition for our family. We do love this area. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed in Deepwater Lodge on Lake Blueridge for two nights. If you look at the pictures of this cabin and the stairs down to the lake, they are missing a very crucial picture of the very slippery and difficult DIY project that they call steps. Going down, you feel like you're going to fall, and going up, you feel like you're going to die. There's no railing, and in some spots the rebar they use to hold the makeshift steps from moving sticks up and out of the ground. So be careful if you walk barefoot!! The cabin itself looks like it was cleaned the last time it was rented, but that had to be weeks before we got there. Lights were dusty, cobwebs and spiders outside, pollen on outside furniture and porch floors, dead bugs in the downstairs bathtub, a hair on a "clean" towel in upstairs bathroom, hot tub had dirt and leaves floating in it before we even took the topper off, and the best part of all, the bridge/walkway to the floating dock on the lake was under water and you had to swim to the floating dock from the steps on land. They either need to update their pictures of this cabin or invest some money in a better housekeeper and some repairs. Also, we weren't allowed to bring our dog to this cabin, which we totally understand... but then we had to deal with a neighbor just leaving their two dogs outside to free roam and bark at us. They constantly barked until the day we left. Most of the surrounding cabins were also under construction while we were there, so that was totally pleasant to hear from 9am-7pm (not!). If this cabin was cleaner and the dock was still attached to the stairs, I would have nothing to complain about and would have given this cabin 5 stars for sure. They charge a cleaning fee when it was blatantly obvious that it hasn't been cleaned for quite some time. It's an older cabin, but that is part of the charm. We won't be back though, nor will we rent from this rental agency again. read more

I just stayed this past weekend with four other people. I was definitely a little nervous with all the negative reviews. The booking process was easy. I arrived at the office around 6:30pm and was quickly given all the information to get to my cabin and had no problems. The cabin was really nice and a good location sitting right on a creek. Everything worked with no problems, washer and dryer in the cabin as well. The only negative would be the cleanliness. Seems like the place needs a good cleaning. Item left in the fridge from previous guest, couch had stains on it, and we found some dirty clothes still there. I know they said to call but it seemed easier for me to throw those items away. Would have 4 stars if it was cleaner. Overall we had a great time and I would return. read more

Our first time in Blue Ridge and I could'nt have hoped for a better stay. The reservation process was as simple as it gets and the pictures did not even come close to how gorgeous this place was. We arrived a little past office hours so they conveniently left our welcome packet and keys in a lock box outside of the office. We rented Liz's Lookout and couldnt have asked for a more romantic get a way. Great views, beautiful fireplace, modern lay out and a very convenient location to the actual "city" center. Our Moutain Laurel Cabin experience was top notch! The cabin was beautiful -- amazing view, beautifully decorated. We hosted a family reunion/birthday party for our 70yo mom. The kids loved the hot tub and and the game room. The adults enjoyed the many spaces to spread out -- especially the decks and screened porch spaces. The kitchen was perfect for making dinners for our big group. If the firepit could talk! So many fun conversations around the fire. We had a visitor -- a black bear! He kept snacking out of our dumpster. It was entertaining to watch him trying to get in after we chained it shut. We kept our distance and cleaned up after him to discourage him. We did report it to the DNR, who said as long as he was not threatening us, we were ok. We went into downtonw Blue Ridge for lunch one day, enjoyed Mercier Orchards, and popped into the gift shop at Expedition: Bigfoot. Several of us walked down the mountain to visit the little chapel at the base of the property. So lovely. Our interactions with the Mountain Laurel rental staff were positive. They were very helpful and were even able to let us into the cabin 2 hours earlier than the stated 4pm check-in. We will definitely return to Mountain Laurel Cabins and are planning a longer stay the next time. read more

This review is on the rental agent Mountain Laurel Cabin Rental in Blue Ridge, GA and their cabin R&R River Retreat in Coosawatta River Resort. This is my first and only bad review I've written in the 30 years of extensively travelling with my husband and our 3 children. We have never had a rental agent intentionally provide online rate quotes at a lower rate than what the actual charge amount on your credit card and intentionally omit important facts in their description of the rental as Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals. The website does not mention that R&R River Retreat is built into a steep cliff on the side of a mountain. The access road to cabin is an extremely steep and windy one-vehicle path. It is like a roller coaster with a drop that you can't see where the front end of your vehicle is going. The road has an immediate sharp turn to avoid driving into the 1st cabin, quickly pass the 2nd cabin to come to a quick stop so you don't end up on the porch of R&R River Retreat. Exiting the access road was just as difficult. It is impossible to back out of the road, so the only place to turn your vehicle around to make it back up the hill is at the 2nd cabin's driveway. Fortunately there were no tenants there so we could turn around. (That cabin is understandably for sale). It was necessary to plan our daily outings so we could safely make it back to the cabin before dusk. Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals should state the road conditions to get to the cabin with pictures showing the STEEP road and turn since the roads within Coosawatta River Resort are not on GPS. It is very deceptive for Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals to not require Winter Renters to have 4-wheel drive and chains. It takes at least 30 minutes from the closest security gate to get to the cabin. At night a minimal of 45 mins to avoid on-coming traffic and deer on the narrow winding roads. Fortunately we used for the trip were a 4-wheel drive Truck and a Suburban and the Suburban had some difficulty going up the access road from the cabin and that was in May. R&R sits on the side of a cliff so there is no level area to walk (which should also be stated on their site) There are no steps or designated walkway to get down the cliff to the river. You must aim for trees to bear hug to stop yourself to make it down the cliff. a walking stick while you are down their so you can get back to the cabin. The website description simply states "path is lit with solar lights" The only signs of solar lighting is the remains of ONE old, plastic crushed solar light covered in dirt. There is no path, with your body in motion your legs decide where the path is. Needless to say my husband and I made one venture down to the river, our children made it twice in the week that we were there. (Note the PICTURE of a little patch of grass off back door-that is the only level land) Nightly rental rate listed on Mountain Laurel Cabin Rental website is the breakdown by week was $175 but our online quote was $180. When I saw the charge on our credit card, I assumed the larger amount was the security deposit. When we did not receive a credit for our security deposit I called Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals office. I was told they don't charge the security deposit; the amount is the rate for the cabin. I stated the rate on site was $175, my online quote was $ 180 in addition their Rate Charge spreadsheet on their website for that time period was $175. He rudely told me $200 is listed in the title line of the cabin and that's what I was charged. I asked to speak to a manager, he came back on the phone and said she said there is nothing she can do about it. I've never experienced rude and inconsiderate customer service. Not only is the rate information incorrect the description of the cabin and amenities are very outdated and incorrect. The furniture was old and worn. The bed linens and towels were faded and worn thin. Anything in the cabin above and below eye-level was dusty and dirty. The cabin was very musty smelling. We had to remove the rugs on the porch because the smell of dog urine was overwhelming. We planned on using the basement bedroom for my son, but it was so musty smelling down there, he slept on the upstairs couch. The one evening we planned on playing pool in the basement we found water coming out of the closet door flooding into bedroom and sitting area. My husband was able to find the source, air conditioning pipe was broke. We had to use all the towels to attempt to soak it up. We called to report the problem. Several hours later we received a call back, he told them he was able to reconnect pipes. He said we could use some assistance in the clean-up and dry towels. No one ever showed up or thanked him, and no dry towels. I completed a review for R&R River Retreat on Mountain Laurel Cabin Rental's site, needless to say, it was never posted. Experience - Rocky Lodge Cabin Cherry Log, Ga. Called this morning (Thursday) to see about an early check-in. The lady I spoke with said that at 'this time', the cabin wasn't ready and to call back around 1:00pm. I know the cabin wasn't occupied on Wednesday, so either the people who clean & ready the cabins are slow, or she wasn't being truthful. At this point, all I can do is wait till 1 or 2:00 and call back. After stopping for lunch in Ellijay, we again called and asked if we could check in at 3:00pm (an hour early). She said yes, but there would be an 'early check in' charge of $10. I said fine, but asked her if we were to check out two hours early on Sunday, would we get a $20 credit? Answer - NO. We followed the directions, and the cabin itself is located off 515 in Cherry Log, which is basically between Ellijay and Blue Ridge. The drive up to the cabin started off well enough, but you eventually reach a turn off that is a narrow, dirt road with no room for pulling over if a car is coming the other way. You finally drive down a steep section of the road and the cabin is on the left. This is where you find out the photos on their web site are misleading. The photos make it appear you have enough room to park a car/truck in the driveway. But in actuality, it's a short,steep turn in which had little, if any room to park. When I tried to maneuver my truck to get it better situated, the tires started spinning and I had to go to 4-wheel drive. No where in the description of the cabin does it mention this steep drive and very lacking parking spot. Once we arrived, our next problem was with the 'electronic key pad', Instead of an actual key, you use a key pad and use the code that was sent the morning of your arrival. When I entered the code (six numbers and an asterisk *), the door didn't open. It took playing with it before I figured out you had to 'wait' a few seconds before entering the asterisk. THEN it worked. This brought another question that was not in the cabin documents, how to 'lock' the door when we go out. Again, we finally figured it out on our own. You simply hit any key one time and the door locks. Would of been nice if that was noted somewhere. The cabin was nice, but as we started to turn lights on, we realized how lacking it was in lamps. The one lamp in the living room had a burnt out bulb. We had to 'borrow' one from a lamp in one of the bedrooms. Still, even with that, it was dark in the living room. We turned on the kitchen lights, but the one lamp that hangs from the ceiling was too low as I kept having to duck under it. One suggestion I would make is to replace the 'blue-tint' LED bulbs with a warm light LED bulbs. This would give the cabin a warmer feel instead of the cold blue tint LED's currently in the cabin. The kitchen table is, I guess, located in the only place it could be, which is next to the wall. There is no light over the table, and if more than two people sit at it, it would have to be pulled out and sit in the middle of the kitchen. Again, very limited space. The bathroom serves it's purpose, but no towel racks and no hooks to hang used towels on. Finally, the most frustrating of all was the thermostat. We could never get the temperature in the cabin warm enough to be comfortable. During the night, the outside temperature got down in the 20's but the inside temperature never got above 55 degrees, even though we set it at 68 degrees. This was an on-again, off-again problem during our stay. If the thermostat is being controlled remotely, that is unacceptable excuse for trying to 'save' some money on heating cost. Again, if that indeed was the case, it should be made know to those who choose to rent a cabin. We never used the hot tub (never do), but the location outside on a desk unto itself seemed odd. Plus, no real privacy as cars coming down the road would be in clear view. You could also, while standing on the deck, hear the traffic clearly on HY-515. While the reviews on your website are all 5-star (no surprise), I dug a little deeper and found more reviews more in-line with what the cabin and Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals actually reflect. We have been renting cabins in the North Georgia mountains for over twenty years, and this was our first time using MLCR. I think next year we will go in a different direction. read more

I have rented many cabins through other Blue Ridge area cabin rentals companies. I am not writing this review to promote one or the other but cannot help to say something today. I have been online for 3 hours now looking at literally hundreds of home-cabins for the Thanksgiving holiday 2012. I've been on Vrbo, blue ridge this and ellijay that! Phew! I've sent out about 6 inquiries. I have received 4 responses. One, a private owner wrote back in depth and answered my questions fully. Another company, that I have worked with before always writes me back with, 1. addressing me by name, 2. and uses the NAME of the cabin(s) I have asked about in the email and 3. always puts a bit of salesmanship into it. Example: That would be perfect for Thanksgiving morning! Only one today gave me a bit of an irriation. I couldn't remember WHICH home I'd asked about but I wrote Mountain Laurel Cabins off of the flipkey site. I got an answer; 'yes your cell phone should work there'. This gave me such a 'feeling' that I began searching for reviews. I have rented from Mountain Laurel once a year for the last three years. The website is easy to navigate and makes choosing a cabin very simple. Only change I would like to see is being able to see the locations of the cabins. I have been pleased with the cleanliness and condition of all of the cabins I have rented. The staff has been helpful and friendly every time without exception. I will continue to use Mountain Laurel in the future. read more

We just stayed at Toccoa River Trail cabin and it was disgusting and extremely unhealthy and unsafe. For what we paid to stay in this cabin for two nights ($1000), I would expect much better conditions or for it to at least be clean. We decided to stay the two nights rather than tell our kids we couldn't stay there after finding out they were booked to capacity and couldn't offer us another cleaner, safer cabin. Here is a LIST of things wrong with the cabin and property: - The guest house over the garage smells horribly like mold and mildew. There is no way it is healthy to safely sleep there (after staying there the first night, I was very ill due to an extreme allergy to mold. I had to use a regular inhaler as well as a steroid inhaler. My son coughed all night long but didn't at all during the day when he was out of that room). We moved to the main house to sleep the second night and had to sleep on the couch and floor. - There is a lot of very visible black mold in the shower in the guest house. Having to take a shower in there was disgusting. - The pool table/air hockey table is broken and totally unusable. This was a big disappointment to the kids. - There were leaves totally covering the whole deck (making it slippery), whole driveway (we couldn't tell where the edge of the driveway was), and the whole back yard. It seems no one maintains the yard/ patio furniture at all. The patio furniture chairs were all over the yard and not even with the tables. The chairs were dirty. - There is a green slippery slime all over the deck and on the deck stairs. Because of this, the deck and stairs were extremely slippery especially when wet. My 4 year old son fell down the stairs twice and my friend's daughter fell once bc of this green slippery stuff. We are very thankful they only got bruises and no broken bones bc they were nasty falls. - The upstairs toilet in the main house has not been cleaned in a while and has a black ring in it. - The master bath tub and sink in the main house will not drain at all. The house in general is very run down and needs some work. Bc of this, we did not stay at the house much at all. We basically slept there. I reported all of this, nicely, to the office and they offered a 10% discount for our NEXT stay. This made me laugh and I left. After reading other reviews on here, Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals obviously don't care about the condition of their cabins. I would never use this company again. read more

My family stays in a particular cabin every Christmas. My wife LOVES sitting outside on one of the many decks sipping hot cocoa as well as going to sleep with the door cracked upstairs. The atmosphere is amazing and the prices are reasonable. The only two issues we had this time around was that the internet would not work. My wife spent so much time on the phone with the internet companijy because she wanted to see a particular movie on netflix that was just released. The second (and more concerning) was that they can and do remotely control the heating and air so if you are in a situation like we were and the heat wasnt working in the dead of winter so you turn it up a bit just beware. We kept wondering why the cabin stayed in the 50's despite turning it up. The guy called us back admitting to changing it because they felt it was unreasonable. So in summation instead of calling the guest to see if there is something wrong you will remotely turn it back down so they freeze and stay cold. I dont think anyone needs to have the heat set to 90 but if someone has it set to 80 because it isnt heating up enough then ask why someone is cranking it up. I dont like that at all. At like over 200 a night i should be able to be warm and keep my family comfortable. read more

My wife and I actually really enjoyed the cabin, and the surrounding trails and trees were beautiful and fine to explore. Getting there at night is a bit daunting as the roads are not well lit in the National Park, windy, and depending on which cabin you are staying at, consist of loose gravel and fallen leaves. But that's all to be expected to a certain degree when you are renting a cabin in a National Park. I would assume, however, that if the path up a driveway was too steep for a street car to easily climb then there would be more than a mention of "4WD recommended" at the end of a long title, and no where else. You can go look it up, we stayed at the "Log Cabin" from late November 9th to the early afternoon of the 11th. There is no warning that Four Wheel Drive would be necessary if you wanted to park in front of the house. There's no information about the parking at all, in fact. There was a cabin above us, just a short stair climb up the hill in front of our cabin, that had flatter, easier parking. We would have gladly chosen to park there had we known we could. The cabins were both owned by Mt. Laurel, its called "Timber Cabin." Instead, my wife and I, when trying to leave the house the afternoon of the 10th to go to town, had to spend 30 minutes desperately trying to and hoping that our car would make it up the steep looped driveway. Eventually I gained enough speed to get out, luckily. I would have called someone, but the cell service is extremely limited up there. Which, again, is not unusual at a cabin - but it certainly isn't advertised or forewarned! We had to drive about 20 or 25 minutes away from the cabin to get cell service. While hiking in the morning to find cell service we had come upon some other cabins, we finally mustered the courage to knock on the door of a cabin that had a few cars out front. But no one answered, and we made our way back to the cabin. We would not have been so desperate to get in contact with Mount Laurel, and need to leave the place had we had food at the cabin. In fact, I paid for the concierge service and sent a detailed grocery list of provisions that would take care of our immediate and long-term food needs for the weekend stay, and which they confirmed would be delivered to the cabin before we arrived. It wasn't there, obviously. And we had barely brought any supplies of our own. I was hoping to surprise my wife with champagne and chocolate at the cabin to celebrate our anniversary, and was glad that the concierge service would be able to not only set that up but also take the stress off my hands of having to lug up a ton of food and alcohol. So, we drove 10 hours from Orlando on Friday night, and arrived to the cabin shortly past-dark, after driving through windy and unlit gravel roads - only to find that we had no means of contacting anyone and no food for ourselves. Instead of being able to enjoy ourselves, we had to negotiate and decide how to take care of ourselves. Luckily we decided no to leave, because the inability to get out of the drive way would have given us a sense of impending emergency that first night in the cabin that would have been really terrible to deal with. Instead, we decided to go to bed - which is a terrible way to spend the first night at a cabin. We would have possibly stayed up could we have made a fire, but management left no matches or lighters despite leaving charcoal and wood for the fireplaces. Which on its own is fine, but the expectation is that The next morning we woke up early and made some coffee dated from April this year - luckily, the brewer worked. We decided to hike around and see if we could get cell service, to no avail. And thus set off us trying to leave in the early afternoon. When we got to town we got some food and contacted Mount Laurel. The women on the phone was nice, but wasn't sure why Nic Siebert, the guest relations manager who I had been in contact with about the Concierge Service, hadn't delivered my groceries. She said she would investigate and let me know what happened. When I called back about 40 minutes later they informed me that the groceries were delivered to the wrong cabin - and she offered to remove the charge for the concierge service and groceries. I accepted, not wanting to push a women who was just trying to do her job, most likely, and was offering me what she could. I left a very frustrated email with Nic Seibert, who I had tried to call and contact multiple times, asking him to contact me because I wanted a full refund for the difficulties we had to face that could have been avoided had they done things more professionally on their end. I asked him to contact me by the end of the work day on Monday, which is today. He never reached out. The cabin itself was great, and I would have loved to have had a fantastic and carefree anniversary with my wife - but Nic and Mount Laurel made the trip anxiety ridden.
