We wanted to do a quick get away and decided to head up to the mountains and choose to rent a cabin with Southern Comfort. The entire experience was great, they were very helpful from beginning to end with any questions or issues that popped up. The cabin itself was gorgeous, clean, and had a great view, we stayed at the absolute relaxation. Great size for a couple or two, or small family. The fire pit and hot tub were also a nice touch. I was a little unprepared for a portion of the road being a bit rocky going up to the cabin lol but that was no biggie. I'm sure we will rent with them again if we decide to make another trip up to blue ridge. read more

This review is gonna be entitled, scandalous, shady, and very sneaky people! So this is our first time booking a with Southern comfort cabins for Blue Ridge Georgia. The address is 498 Eagles nest Blue Ridge, Georgia. Our cabin was a little pricey. We know it's summertime that's OK we're OK with that. We decided to give it a go give it a shot we arrive at our cabin. We noticed right away. The cabin looks nice outside, but then we noticed the hot tub was leaking. We also noticed they had broken baseboards at the top of the kitchen, which was OK no big deal they did send out a mechanic to try to fix the hot tub that didn't work. Also we noticed downstairs. Bathroom did not lock or bedroom did not lock so no privacy there our stay was Ok. We had a great time. We made the best of it. They also need to trim the trees out back. There's no Mountain View at all on the first and second deck, which is shown in pictures that you're able to see half the world that's not true. Everything went OK. We finished our trip for four nights there we come home and we get a email saying that we have a bill due because we had a dog in the cabin. I don't own a dog. I've never owned a dog my whole life. They are very sneaky people very shady. Watch out. Take pictures. Document everything when you first get to their cabins.!!!!!!!. PS WE ARRIVED A COUPLE HOURS EARLY SO I GAVE THE HOST/ management team A CALL TO SEE IF WE COULD check in a bit early then they try to tell me that I have to pay a $56 fee to check in early. That's crazy this place in this company is all about just money money money. ". UPDATE: 08/17/2026. So I went ahead and filed a claim with my bank to dispute the charges, and I actually won the case. They went ahead and awarded me all the money back. Please be careful with this company. They are very sneaky shady and unethical. They will literally plant stuff in the cabins break things on purpose stage photos and make it look like you've done something wrong or need to pay an extra fee.!!!!!!! I was locked out of the cabin when I arrived and I did follow the instruction. it took almost an hour before i could get ahold of anyone. the lock didn't work for the entirety of my stay 4-5 days, even with maintenance "fixing" it twice. the sheets on the bed were dirty. they're were dirty rags in the washer that stunk. the shower had mold. the outside patios were filthy. clearly never cleaned. and for whatever reason, none of the windows had screens. I couldn't even enjoy the sound of the river. I reported all of this and included pictures. they only offered me a discount on my next stay with THEM. no refund. and then tried to blame me and say I should've reported it all during my stay. Update: My family was put in contact with the General manager, Brenden, and guest services representative, Kim, who went addressed our concerns. Brenden came to the property to inspect and remove bugs (dead bugs were attracting more to come in with pheromones). Removing the dead bugs calmed down the swarms that were coming in to a tolerable level. Brenden and Kim also listened to the recommendations and contacted the homeowner to make recommendations about cleaning, sealing and insulating the house better for future guests. Additionally, the hot tub issue has finally been rectified as of 2 hours ago so we will have an opportunity to try it out before we check out tomorrow morning. Finally, we were provided a dinner gift card to a local restaurant due to early departure of our chef and offered a partial refund of 2 nights for the inconveniences caused. I appreciate the team's effort to address concerns. ***************************************** Horrible experience so far. Customer service isn't helping us. Maintenance visit was pointless. The hot tub is still cold and will not heat up and 5 of us slept in our vehicles last night because of a severe ladybug infestation. There are also centipedes and stink bugs everywhere. Some of the rooms are over run by ladybugs. In the main bedroom the bugs are attracted to the tin roof slats and are dropping from the ceiling onto the bed. I understand that we're with nature but I expected bugs outside not flying and crawling all over the cabin and furniture. Rugs are stained and dead bugs should be regularly cleaned. The reviews for this cabin on other websites must be altered or filtered because LOOKOUT LODGE should not have 5 stars. I've rented cabins in Colorado, Pennsylvania and Tennessee without bug infestations so I know that this isn't normal. We should be able to comfortably sleep in the beds. It's upsetting to prepay over $3700 for 4 nights only to be tricked into a bug infested cabin with a defective hot tub. read more

UNSAFE FOR CHILDREN!!!! PLEASE READ!!!! Where do I even begin with this.... There are so many issues with this company I don't even know where to start. Their lack of concern for the health and well being of their clientele...especially those with young children is frankly astounding. We arrived to Echoes on the Lake on March 4th. Upon arrival I noticed the security pad hanging by a cord and really should have know at that point the horror we were walking into. I began to notice several dead Asian lady beetles on the floor (keep in mind these look like ladybugs but BITE and it hurts). It was pretty gross but I began sweeping it up figuring it wouldn't be a big issue...the deeper into the house I got the more dead bugs I found. That was my first call to Southern "dis"Comfort...the woman on the phone assured me this is normal. I requested the cleaning service to come back immediately, as even if this was normal, surely this amount of dead bugs did not accumulate in 24-48 hours. At that point I looked above me and realized the place was SWARMED. I'll let you review photos and video for yourself to see if you would consider this "a normal a seasonal occurrence" as has been stated to me multiple times by their very dismissive manager, Amber. I demanded a relocation at that point....i was given the option of 6 new homes... 3 of which were less expensive and more run down than the home we had booked...one which wasn't even in Blue Ridge...and non of which were on the lake (which was the ENTIRE purpose of our rental and trip). After 1.5 hours of back and forth my one year old was exhausted and we just needed a safe place for us all to sleep. I requested a follow up from management first thing the next morning as I made it clear that where we were relocating we did not want to stay for the weekend. Guess what? That call never came. I made calls the next morning and was told management was in a meeting and could not speak to me. Then the power went out in the new home... WHAT A JOKE. In follow up emails Amber States she tried calling me twice (oh gee thanks...once on March 5th at 3:30 in the afternoon...24 hours since this ordeal started). I never received this call. And once again on March 16th 2 freaking weeks after this nightmare began. PLEASE trust the more recent negative reviews of this company. You do not want to rent from them...their homes are run down and unsafe and their customer service is dismissive and rude. I'm sure the company is going to follow up now with an apparent sincere apology publicly...so you have the true answer here to whatever vague "compensation" they are going to state the offered...it is for a discount on an upcoming stay. We have had poor experiences with AirBnB and VRBO in the past so my family decided to use Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals to rent a cabin for a week in Blue Ridge Mountains. Our rental was exactly as described and the view from our balcony was even better in person! The cabin was very clean on arrival and we were pleasantly surprised to see that extra dish soap and toiletries were included since many home rentals include barely a trash bag. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware and glasses. I was relieved to see that there was a nice selection of reusable plastic plates, bowls and cups since we have clumsy toddlers. My only complaint was the directions given by Southern Comfort. We were instructed in our email to not use our GPS and to turn 32.4 miles after the hospital. This might be the worst directions I have ever received!!! There plenty of other crossroads, landmarks, businesses, and signs that could have been used that were within 5 miles of the street to our cabin. My husband's elderly parents lost track of the miles from the hospital so they had to turn around and drive 30 minutes back to the hospital. After losing track a second time they attempted to use their GPS with no luck and finally pulled into another business that gave them normal directions and told them the entrance to our subdivision was half a mile after a Chevron gas station. When they arrived at our cabin the code didn't work for our cabin. Luckily Southern Comfort immediately answered our call and we received the correct code, but I dread to think what would have happened if we called after business hours. Besides the directions and the confusing email with multiple addresses and incorrect codes our experience with Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals was very positive and I would definitely use them again. read more

Stayed at the company's Bear Creek Resort Cabin, however a better name for it would be Bed Bug Creek Resort. When you see one bed bug there tends to be anywhere from 5-15 more, I saw at least 5. There is no way the company did not know about this problem because how blatantly obvious the signs were in the surrounding areas of the down stairs bedroom next to the kitchen and they're still renting the property regardless. read more

We visited Blue Ridge for a family wedding in Sept 2023 and rented a small cabin. Loved it and the area so much that we went ahead and booked a larger cabin for Dec 2023 to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Both cabins were immaculate, homey and reasonably priced. Southern Comfort is easy to work with and attentive if you have any issues. We will come and stay again. read more

This is a gorgeous property. The view of the river is fantastic from any 3 of the decks. Plenty of space for 10 guests to have privacy, play games, watch TV, or have a lovely meal. My family was celebrating a birthday & we had family fly in to join in the celebration. The cabin is about 20 mins from Walmart, so we would get the supplies we needed. We did have issues with the internet not working throughout the day, so we used our mobile hotspot from our phones. Everyone also had cell phone signal issues & we have various cell carriers. Walking outside helped. The cabin was clean, but there were cobwebs throughout that should have been cleaned away. The bathroom upstairs has a leak that led down to the nock off the kitchen. We called maintenance, who took a look while we were in town. We stopped using it & shared showers in the other 2 rooms. Towels were placed on the bed & more towels were needed. I suggest either giving 2 towels to each guest or recommending guests bring their own towels, especially beach towels for the river. We had a mixture of children to grandparents & moving around the cabin was easy. The gravel trail to the river is steep, so only 1/2 of our family went down & the grandparent who did come used a cane & that helped. One of our family members was baptized in the river & you could see it from the decks. It was a special moment in our visit. We used the kitchen to cook most of our meals & BBQ'd one night. The oven was different from what we use, and some cookies got burnt as it took a long to heat up & cooked fast once they did. The laundry room is a nice size & we did buy laundry detergent to wash towels. The jacuzzi was amazing. You can connect your phone to listen to music, it lit up & temp was perfect. The locks on the doors were tricky. We did mention it to the team via email in case that's how they intended them to be. The train riding by with waving passengers was nice & you can see deer periodically from the back of the house. My family enjoyed our stay. read more

Above the raven cabin The Wi-Fi was terrible no one in cabin could get or keep a signal and we couldn't watch tv cause of the weak Wi-Fi signal the tv keep buffering when we tried to watch movie and my kids couldn't play there video game 2. I was disappointed that there were not any televisions in any of the bedrooms, in the whole cabin it was only 2 televisions. I would not have rented this cabin if I knew it didn't have tvs in the room, tvs are basic and mandatory 3. The comforters were old and dirty, they all need to be thrown away and buy all new comforters, the fitted sheet on the bed was to small so it keep coming off at night and couldn't rest cause I had to keep putting the fitted sheet on mattress during the night 4. There were so many spider webs!! Almost every chair and balcony rail had spider webs on it. Me and my family spent a hour walking around knocking down old spider webs and I know they were old because the were big, knocking down spiderwebs should be housekeepings job not the guest. read more

Cleanliness was sub par at best. Every cabinet had mouse droppings and most drawers did. Dead bugs (large black roaches) in master bedroom. No comfortable furniture in common areas. The living room furniture was long past its prime and the only thing outside was a pair of picnic tables in solid wood. A shame there wasn't much out there or I would have logged some nap time! The views and sounds of the river were phenomenal. Bedroom furniture seemed newer. When some things were reported in email (it was after hours on a Sunday when we got in), there was no response and we stayed a week. We had used the previous company almost every year for 12 years. Doubt we will use this company again. They seem less expensive until you see the extra charges the last company didn't have. Beware of the add on charges. I wasn't going to leave this review but the company continues to send correspondence through text and email asking for it, so here it is! Enjoy! read more

To say that our experience was horrible is an understatement. While the property itself is beautiful, the owner of the property evicted our party from the home within an hour and a half of arrival for having a certified service animal that provided legal disability services for one of our guests to prevent them from having seizures. This was provided to the company 2.5 weeks in advance and our party was forced to leave the property after being contacted by the after hours property manager and told that the "Owner was viewing us on the ring door bell camera" and would not permit us to have our service animal in the home. In addition, we were asked to describe the disability that the service animal was certified for, which is a direct violation of the American with Disabilities Act law. Our party had just picked up a dinner from downtown Blue Ridge to celebrate several birthdays for our guests that drove from Kentucky and Atlanta, and were advised that the owner of the property demanded that we vacate immediately, which prevented us from even finishing our dinner that we just spent several hundred dollars on. As a result, our guests that had just driven 7 hours from out of state were forced to turn around and return home in the middle of the night due to the absolutely inhumane treatment by this owner. I have rented luxury properties in the Blue Ridge Mountains and across the United States and travel over 150 days annually for work and have never in my career been treated in this manner. In addition, for a property owner to be surveilling guests of a rented property is absolutely terrifying thought, especially with our guests that were about to enjoy a dip in the hot tub. This is beyond creepy and we will not be returning after such a miserable experience. read more

I had to sweep and remove cob webs inside and out b4 we were comfortable. I also had to kill a cockroach. Other than that the stay was nice, the view was awesome. A manager made a mistake with my checkout and they made me pay for it. Customer service is not great so I would l not revisit. Never make customers pay for your mistake. Plenty of places to rent in Blue Ridge and surrounding areas that have FANTASTIC customer service. Been renting up there for weekend getaways for years.
