Ry is one of the most genuine, nicest, people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting, and this shows tremendously through his work. My boyfriend and I brought home a Belgian Malinois puppy one week ago. We were well aware of the intensity of the breed and how they are not recommended to novice/inexperienced dog owners. We had done plenty of research and were well prepared for the work this breed of dog requires...or so we thought. One week into owning our 8 week old Malinois, we were pulling out our hair trying to figure out how to get this puppy to stop biting and nipping at us. My parents had previously worked with Ry for their golden retrievers and could not express enough how he was the best of the best. We reached out to him and explained that we were getting really frustrated and we weren't sure how to deal with how mouthy and snappy the puppy was. We were concerned if not addressed immediately, the snapping could turn into aggression as the dog got older. If I could give Uncle Rye a 10 star rating, I would. My husband did a lot of research and read a ton of reviews on several companies before calling Rye. We are more than please with Uncle Rye with how he teaches and trains the dogs, as well as the owners. His approach is stern, but caring and loving. We have two Golden Retriever puppies that are 1yr and 11 months that are a bit rambunctious at times when visitors come over, and on their walks. When we first called Uncle Rye, the dogs were around 9 months and 7 months old, and we were really struggling with taking them on walks. One dog would pull on the leash and the other would pull, jump, and wouldn't listen to any commands. By the end of the training session, (Uncle Rye spent a good 5-6 hours with us) my husband and I were able to walk our dogs without any stress and enjoy the walk. In the past couple of months we both have become a bit relaxed and maybe lazy because of busy schedules, the puppies have become a bit much again. Uncle Rye has answered every text and phone call. He's always willing to help us out no matter what. We did have him come out one more time to teach us a couple additional techniques and get us back on track. I cannot recommend Uncle Rye enough. With just 1 session I was able to walk my dogs stress free, no more jumping, and understand that I am the pack leader and control my home/space. I adopted an adult pound puppy who within the first month, after settling in a bit, showed some of his true colors as an individual that is socially inept and emotionally disturbed (that is, has dog-aggressive tendencies). I'm quite active and wanted a dog that can be equally active and well adjusted - he needs to be able to handle encounters with other dogs on walks, hikes, and the occasional game night at the house. So, we sought help. I was looking for trainers that were adequately qualified to work with canine aggression (we were beyond the need to simply sit and stay, he can learn those "tricks" no problem), and I was finicky about the methods I used. I wanted the training to be more psychologically motivated than machismo-fear-dominance motivated, and after talking to quite a few trainers in town, Ry Steffen of All Dog Solutions appeared to be one of my few options I briefly worked with another trainer who I discovered clearly wasn't able to meet the needs of my dog and I, so that was a loss of money for me but a learning experience about the difference between an okay trainer and a great trainer. Ry subscribes to many Caesar Milan type beliefs and practices - the focus is always on the pack leader staying in control, with a "calm assertive" state of mind and a beta dog will respond in kind. His techniques have transformed the interactions in our household with both the humans and the dogs in a much better place (emotionally speaking). We can do things we couldn't before - have nice, long, calm walks without the dogs freaking out every time we pass another dog - and I feel in control and am able to quell bad situations often before they happen (or handle them quickly and calmly when they do). The dogs are clearly happier in a calmer state of mind knowing who the pack leader is. Ry really focuses on the dog and pack psychology and explains the biological basis behind all the techniques he uses. He's sometimes a little hard to get ahold of and is ridiculously busy, so don't expect to be able to set up a meeting the day you call...
