I reached out to them through Yelp for an estimate on a landscaping project at my house. We had…read moreagreed on him coming to my house at 4:30 to discuss the project and get an estimate. I had a chance for overtime that day, which I turned down to make sure I was home by 4:30 to meet with Jeremy. 4:30 came and went, and I was sitting around, waiting on him to show up. At 5:15 I call him and ask what is going on. He is very apologetic and saying "oh man" several times and starts talking about how bad the traffic is but says he can be at my house by 6 PM. I'm a little upset, but I agree to wait until 6 and meet with him. 6 PM comes by. . .and nothing. At 6:30, now two hours after our original appointment and 30 minutes after he just told me he'd be there a little over an hour prior, he's still not there. I call again, and he just starts saying "oh man" over and over again, and mumbles something about traffic being bad. He says maybe he can be there a little after 7 PM. No. I said no. I'll find someone else. If someone is this bad at simply keeping an appointment, and bad at communication that he can't communicate if he's going to be late, why should I trust him with a project at my home?

Julio came over to discuss the project and what I wanted done. I needed a large limb removed that had fallen and lodged on my roof. I needed the limbs over my roof trimmed back. And I needed a massive, half-dead limb removed from my neighbor's tree that covering and threatening half my deck. I'll bet it weighed in at a ton. He explained how he would do it, gave me what I considered a reasonable price, and we set up a time. With other companies I've had bent gutters, cracked sidewalks, fence and deck boards. Not with Julio. He and his crew were careful and meticulous. Everything was either handed down or lowered by rope. It was cut up, hauled through the alley, and chipped at the curb. He showed me before and after pictures of the roof. And when they left, my deck and sidewalks were cleaner than when they got here. If you're going to get estimates on tree work; definitely include Julio Tree Service in the mix.

During the project he moved an expensive piece of outdoor furniture and did not move it back after completing it, because of where and how he left it, it ended up being damaged and having to be replaced. I provided all the information to him about the original cost and the cost of replacement (which was less than what I originally paid), explained my attempts to get just parts for it from the manufacturer instead and the video of it being damaged. He never responded to my request for remedy of the damaged furniture when I sent him the proof of price. The rock work was okay. He changed the scope in the middle of the job and didn't finish one section of it, so I got pretty confused on how the final invoice amount was arrived at. From the amount of work and materials we removed from the quote midway through the project to the final product, it didn't seem quite right. Also, he didn't put the landscaping fabric under the edging, so I have a ton of unexpected weed control I have to manage now when the purpose of installing the rock was to be lower / easier maintenance because, again, I have a disability that affects my mobility. He's a hard worker I just wish he would have made things right regarding my damaged property. He told me his insurance doesn't cover wind damage and did not offer any other remedy. If he'd worked with me to replace the furniture that was damaged, I would have given him a higher rating, but as it is, this is my honest opinion of the value, quality and overall customer experience I received. I can't recommend this business at this time and will be letting the division of Yelp that oversees contractor recommendations know as well since I found him through them.

Ever have someone drop into your world at just the right time, for just the right reason? That's how I met Ryan Shields, owner of Homestead Roofing & Restoration. Forty-five minutes before he introduced himself, I had been prayerfully hoping for someone I could trust to replace my roof. Next thing I knew, Ryan was pulling into my driveway. I had been dreading and delaying the process, but Ryan helped turn that around, and without any pressure, educated me about roofing installations, their requirements and options, and ultimately helped me select a beautiful enhancement to my home's value. Ryan managed every phase of the process, including inspections, coordinating with insurance adjusters, overseeing the installation, and ensuring my happiness as a customer throughout the job. He was an open book every step of the way, providing before and after photo documentation, independent computer aided estimates of the job to be used for comparison with my insurance company's own estimates, interactive computer models of what different solutions would look like on my home, and detailed documentation and receipts for everything associated with the job. I have no doubt that everything Homestead Roofing & Restoration did for me was the same they do for all their customers. Ryan, his crews and employees, were a delight to work with, and if I may, Ryan Shields is the real deal. He is more than an excellent communicator who is passionate about delivering an outstanding product. His joy comes from doing the right thing for his clients and seeing happy homeowners who are delighted in a job well done. I'm so happy to see Homestead Roofing & Restoration growing and thriving as a trusted name in the community.
