One of the Master Gardeners told me that she used her plants and always trusted them. There were a few varieties of plant I was looking for at the sale that was already sold out or they didn't have, so I knew I wanted to go out to the farm. I've been adding to my butterfly garden. I already have a couple varieties of butterfly that visit daily and wanted to expand to include host plants to attract more butterflies and some different ones. The host and nectar plants I purchased here has me very excited. The dill plant even had a Black Swallowtail egg and baby caterpillar!

In an effort to try something different, I went to Depot Nursery. The owner (Alex) is knowledgable, easy to work with, and not afraid to steer you away from plants that won't do well in certain yard spaces with particular needs. All of the plants I purchased from Depot Nursery have survived and thrived well into maturity.... Which tells me that the plants they sell are of great quality. Their delivery was available quickly, installed quickly by Alex's guys, and I even had Alex cut in the garden beds and mulch afterwords. Their prices, selection and available service are better than any in town! Not to mention the fact that I've been able to place a special order with the wonderful manager Nicole for specific plants from them that aren't/weren't available from any nursery in town. She took tons of pictures of different trees for me and helped me find the style I was looking for. My first order included a mulberry that arrived with a fungus and scale infestation. I treated it myself with neem oil because I didn't want the hassle of returning it. They offered me a $10 refund, which I accepted. The bigger issue was my second order. The Water Jasmine I received was nothing like what I expected. At first, I thought the main branch had simply broken during shipping. After examining the tree more closely, I discovered that the original main trunk had already been cut off, and the tree was relying on a very thin secondary branch--which was the part that broke during shipping. This was not a healthy or properly developed tree, and certainly not worth the price I paid. When I contacted the seller, they refused to take responsibility. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, they told me I would have to pay to ship the tree back at my own expense, and they would only refund the $25 cost of the tree--not the shipping I paid to receive it. Since their shipping charges increase with each additional plant, I would lose a significant amount of money for a tree that arrived in unacceptable condition. I spent over $250 on additional bonsai because I trusted this company. Instead of standing behind their products or valuing a repeat customer, they chose to make me pay for their mistake. What makes this even more frustrating is that this company charges higher shipping costs with every additional plant you purchase. I already paid inflated shipping to receive the order, and now they expect me to pay again just to return a tree that never should have been shipped in the first place. That's unacceptable. I spent my money on this company because I trusted them. Instead of standing behind their products, they shifted the cost of their mistake onto the customer. If you're buying bonsai online, be aware that the tree you receive may not match your expectations, and if there's a serious issue, don't expect customer service to make it right. I am new to gardening and was excited to come here and add to my garden. I passed by 4 nursery's to…read morecome to this one. The nursery does not carry fruit trees besides a blue berry and some other. I went to approach a lady to ask her if they carried ocean forest plotting soil. She said no and pointed towards the sample soils they do carry. I then asked her if she could identify my avocado tree leaf for some staining of some kind was on it. She pulls out her phone and automatically that's a red flag for me. I understand there's apps to help identify fungus and such things. But I know how these apps work and a minority of the time they can not diagnosis the issue. And it didn't. The lady who helped me was extremely kind. She then went to ask another lady for guidance and the lady asked her to wait until she was done finishing up a text message. No issue but kinda odd. Now the lady who was now attending us was kinda rude and making comments I didn't think were necessary to make. She then asked me to wrap my leaf samples in a napkin to have them thrown away. She did say it wasn't a smart idea to bring them how I did simply because any thing on my leaf can carry to their plant. And I understand that completely. But as a new potential customer I wouldn't feel comfortable purchasing plants from this nursery when their staff is uneducated about plants and their health. "What if my leaf did cause a disease" they would not know how to properly care for their own plants and those plants would end up in our homes.... I also think their pricing is on the high end. For example I purchased a 15 gallon coco plum at a nearby nursery for 15 dollars. It was about 5 feet tall. And here at this nursery for what looked like a 3 gallon it was selling for the same price. And if this was a high end nursery I could definitely see why they charge fairly. But considering their staff aren't really familiar with identifying leaves and their plants potentially not being cared for properly I wouldn't consider it to be.
