I have never been so disgusted with a service before in my entire life…read more My husband and I visited the facility on January 6th and had an appointment for 4:40. We showed up at our appointment and it was the worst experience of my entire life. The staff in general was okay. I do not blame the receptionist and I thought the first tech was polite. After that, everything went downhill. We contacted Bethalto Animal Clinic simply to get our yearly exam and get my Dog's vaccines up to date, was we recently moved from Jacksonville, Florida to the Bethalto area. First off, the services were anything but affordable. It was over $200 for a simple exam and 2 vaccines, one of which was an oral vaccine. When I had originally scheduled the appointment, I ensured to ask if I would be allowed to be with my dog during the exam and throughout the process, as he doesn't know people at Bethalto Animal Clinic yet and neither do I. I was told yes and that the only things I would not be present for, was blood draws and if he ever needed x-rays. When we went to the back room with our dog, the tech was kind and was asking us of our concerns. Not once did she try to get to know Wilbur (our dog) and not once did she try to get him comfortable. We brought his treats with us to help him adjust a little easier and they were not used. Once she was done talking to us, she informed us that she would need to do a blood draw for one of the annual tests and we said okay. She took him back. When I tell you my dog screamed, I mean he absolutely screamed. Not once have we EVER heard him scream like that. We have been to multiple vets, and never has he been nervous or scared like he was there. They come back 20 minutes later only to tell us that everything was done. The Vet brought him in (who I have never met) and did not tell us how the exam was, discuss any issues we had, address a single concern, absolutely nothing. We paid over $200 to listen to my dog scream and I cannot tell you how disgusted I am, not only with myself for bringing him there, but for this clinic to treat my dog the way they did. We weren't even introduced to the Vet or anything. I felt talked down to when trying to discuss a potential food allergy (diagnosed by my precious 5 star vet) and it was the saddest experience of my life. I cannot describe to you the feelings I have. I will not bring a single living being to this facility ever again, and I will continue to inform everyone in my circle about the horrific treatment of my dog. This facility should be disgusted with themselves. My dog is a member of my family. For you to treat him like a number is unacceptable.

Apparently, differentiating between "Illinois" and "South Carolina" is not something they teach at vet tech school. But if they can't get basic literacy right, then what else are they screwing up? I wanted to understand what was going on because my cats can't speak for themselves and it's my duty to protect them. Then out of nowhere, the veterinarian, Dr. Schilling, accused me of "insulting" the vet tech. This is a lie, one that goes to the very heart of Dr. Schilling's character (or lack thereof). But even before that, speaking with Dr. Schilling was frustrating because she does not converse like a medical professional or even an adult. If concern for my pets makes me a bad man -- if concern for my pets makes me "insulting" -- then I'm guilty as charged. But I suspect everyone reading this review is guilty of the same. I rounded up my little guys and immediately got them out of that dark and sad little place, away from these insane and unprofessional people. As other reviewers have noted, it's important to keep in mind they'll take your money long before they see your pets. I understand why now.

Other than the quality of grooming and general interaction with my dogs, the main thing I wanted was convenience - to not have to schedule my day around driving back and forth to wherever the groomer I picked happened to be. After discussing it with Susan (owner), she put together a service where she will come pick up my dogs, groom them, and bring them back. I couldn't find this service on yelp, so I simply asked her if she'd offer it. She schedules it so that she automatically comes every 5 weeks on the day I choose. She does an outstanding job and really seems to love the dogs she grooms!

First you're called into the consulting room and a vet tech ask all the prep questions. When they exit the room, they report to the vet so when she comes in, she already is well informed about your pet and what the visit is about. Dr. Kristen entered the room and congratulated me on the new adoption. She briefly asked me a few more questions, before exiting with Princess to the exam room. When she returned, she praised Princess's good behavior and gave her a good health report. Being a Chihuahua, her only issue was some tartar on her teeth. She recommended OraVet as a treat to help clean up and keep the tartar away. I'm picky about the veterinarian who cares for my fur-babies and Heartland checks all the boxes.
