I live about 30 minutes from my parents' house and this restaurant is like 5 minutes from their house. So I called the restaurant from my house to place the order (a whole chicken $17.95, an order of plantains $7.95 and an order of rice topped with vegetables $7.95). I figured I would leave my house and the food would be ready by the time I got there. Nope! I was told it would take 1 hour. Uh ok. So I go to my parents place hang out for half an hour, then I headed to the restaurant. When I arrived, I was told that the food wasn't ready yet. I waited at the restaurant for 20 more minutes! Gah! That being said, the man was very nice and did apologize for the wait. He seemed to be the only person there, so it was a one man show. Anyway, the food smelled super good and when I got home and we dug in, the food was delicious! I got us the spicy chicken and it had a fiery kick to it. The chicken was so tender and flavourful. Easily one of the tastiest chicken I've had in Ottawa! The chicken was a bit on the small side though, lol. The plantains were soft and sweet. The rice was bursting with flavour. I don't know what seasonings they put in it, but it was downright addictive. It was topped with fresh cabbage, fresh carrots and the frozen vegetable mix of carrots, peas, and corn. I could have done without the frozen mix and would have preferred more cabbage and carrots. Nonetheless, the rice was excellent. I loved the food. Five stars for the taste of the food. Minus 1 star for the long wait and the fact that the chicken was kinda puny, lol. Lazare's BBQ is where Orleans Shawarma used to be. It's in the mini strip mall on Tompkins. It's in between Milano Pizza and Tran Dee hair salon. Lots of free parking in the plaza.

The food at this location was similar to the other location: very tasty, but a bit pricey for the small portions. We got the 2 whole chickens family combo ($49.50). This came with 2 really small chickens, rice, plantains, and salad. For the chicken you can get mild, medium spicy, or spicy. We got one mild (for the kids) and one spicy. The spicy one was delicious. They don't fool around, it's really spicy! The mild one was flavourful, but I definitely likes the spicy one better. They were both a little too oily/greasy for my liking, but I still enjoyed it. The chickens were really small, much smaller than roasted chickens you'd get at Loblaws, Metro, etc. The rice was soft and fluffy. It contained peas, carrots, corn, green bean pieces. I think it's from the frozen vegetable mix (you know the one I'm talking about, I think it's called Macedoine Mix). Anyway, it was good. I loved the plantains. They were soft and slightly sweet. The salad was a romaine salad with carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and green peppers. It came with your choice of Caesar or balsamic dressing on the side (we chose balsamic). Ingredients were fresh. Staff were very nice and friendly. The place is new and clean. It's in a strip mall (same plaza as Just Wok, Orleans Bakery, and Gabriel's Pizza). There's lots of free parking.

It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. They open at 11:30 on the weekend and we were a bit early but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- letting us sit down, browse the menu and even place our order before they "officially" opened. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. But we were sitting next to the AC which can be quite breezy!

It's actually quite large compared to most eateries in industrial parks which are usually mostly for takeout. There is a lot of seating and if you eat in they use real china and cutlery, which I like. I got the soup and sandwich special ($8.25). They had 3 soups of the day and I chose the beef, chicken and barley. For my sandwich I chose oven roasted turkey on white (bread options included whole wheat and rye as well). I got my bread toasted, and had lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and mustard on it. I was over the moon that I had the option of real turkey instead of deli meat turkey. The sandwich was very tasty. I mean it was something that I can assemble myself at home, but really only after Thanksgiving or Christmas, because I don't usually have turkey leftovers at home, lol. The soup was unique though. It definitely tasted homemade. It had chicken, beef, mushrooms, barley, onions, and a bunch of different root vegetables. I enjoyed it a lot. I particularly liked that it was so thermodynamically hot! I love my soups super hot. It stayed hot until my last spoonful. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were patient and listed off all my sandwich options while I decided what I wanted. They seemed to all get along too, which was nice to see. It's cafeteria style there. You order at the counter, they pass you your food, then you pay the cashier, and seat yourself with your food wherever you want. They have daily specials written on the board. I think they always have fish and chips on Fridays, and I think that Chicken Noodle Soup is always a soup option. Prices are quite reasonable. The specials are $10.95 or less. There is free parking in the attached lot. They're only open 8am-2pm on weekdays and are closed on weekends, so I think this kind of limits their potential customer pool. However, if you are in the area during their opening hours and want some food, they are worth checking out.
