Big disappointment this time and probably the last time we'll be going there. The chicken in the souvlaki appeared to have died on a barren, arid desert, and my hamburger was apparently an experiment in taste removal. The waiter was a very decent upbeat guy, so he probably had all his meals at home. As always, there was plenty of sports to see on the many tv's and that was the best part of the meal. My next Father's Day will be celebrated elsewhere. Really, don't waste your money unless you plan to do a lot of drinking rather than eating. read more

Had a Date night with my Husband tonight at the Kanata location and the food was amazing... Who ever made our Pizza... It was excellent and the Fries were better then a Chip Wagon. Went here for lunch based on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. It is definitely a local dive bar kind of spot but the one waitress serving everyone was fast and friendly. We both ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and I got sweet potato fries and she confirmed with me that it was alright there was an extra charge for them. I found that surprising, which really it shouldn't surprise me but restaurants tend to ask if you want extras and not always tell you there is an extra charge. The food came pretty quickly and was quite good. The one disappointment was there was no dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries just ketchup but I am totally okay eating them on their own. Apparently they have live music on weekends so definitely would enjoy going back for that. read more

My friend and I decided to take a study break and get some burgers. We wanted to try somewhere new and Moose McGuire's was nearby. The restaurant has more of a local bar/pub vibe. When we arrived almost everyone was in the bar section and we had to stand there awkwardly for a few minutes before someone came to seat us in the dining room section. There were lots of TVs which would have been nice if there was a game on for sure! (Strike one, they were showing broadcasts of Maple Leafs news!! haha!) Our waitress was really sweet and polite. I ordered a Swiss and Mushroom burger with fries. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, but it was surprisingly delicious! The burger was cooked to medium, served with mushrooms and Emmenthal cheese. It was one of my favorites in Ottawa so far. I will most likely visit this bar again, probably during a game!! read more

Last night I wanted to go somewhere close by for a quick bite. My boyfriend and I arrived at moose mcguires. The place is VERY dive-y. Lots of people smoking outside, everyone seems to know each other and they're all running in and out. The hostess and waitress were both very nice and pleasant. We got a pitcher of cracked canoe, which the waitress recommended. We really enjoyed the beer. We then ordered chicken nachos with no olives and an order of sweet potato fries. From the time we ordered it took 40 minutes for our food to come. Why?! The nachos were meh, 4$ extra for chicken and there is barely any, and there were about 6 olives strewn about the nachos. There was also a hair in the nachos BLEH!!!! The fries were kind of burnt ish? Like on the verge of burnt. All in all I won't ever return. Not worth it!!! read more

It's a lounge, it's a restaurant, it's a live music venue, it's a sports bar. No, it's Mooooooose McGuire's!!! How they have managed to make it all these things is beyond me. But do it, they have. At any given moment you can move around the place and the atmosphere changes. Not the most handicap friendly, but the staff sure do try to accommodate.I have to say the staff make your visit more than just a meal. They are friendly but not intrusive. They have opinions about their favourite choices and are not afraid to tell you. My dining partners that evening ordered the Fish and Chips, the BBQ Bacon Burger and I had the Beef Dip Sandwich because I had heard it was awesome. They were right. The burger was hand made on the spot and we were told it would take a few more minutes than the other entrées. Nice touch. It was a towering piece of heaven which included a huge onion ring on it. The fish (Haddock) was nice and crisp and the fish flaky and not overdone. They have a special cole slaw made with red cabbage that they serve. I sneaked a little taste and it was really good. There was an ingredient in the dressing that I couldn't quite put my finger on, but it "made" the slaw. Not your standard side dish afterthought. The Beef Dip came and was a little larger than I anticipated. Filled with shaved melt-in-your-mouth beef. The Dip was flavourful and not too greasy. Perfect for dipping. 2 out of 3 of us loved the fries; the one is particularly fussy about her food. But she loved the fish and the cole slaw, which is saying something. One should note that their coffee is exceptionally strong. Great for those of us that like it that way. All in all we will be going back. There is enough on their menu to keep me happily trying their fare for quite some time. read more

Seriously, if you like hamburgers and all the stuff that hangs out with them like fries, beer, whatever, this place rocks. I don't know anything about the other dishes, but if the burgers exemplify the culinary skills of the person who does the flipping, then the rest of the menu must be flipping great. This is a place that doesn't hide it's a local watering hole and restaurant. They have a good, Canadian themed atmosphere, comfy furniture and a well stocked bar. The staff are always friendly too. This isn't the kind of place you'd want to take someone for a high rolling dinner, but if you're looking for a place to do dinner with friends or teammates, it fits the bill. They have weekly specials: don't miss their 25 cent wing nigjt on Wednesdays , and half pricepizza on Thursdays. Great love music and special events on the weekend, too. read more

Terrible experience at the Brockville location. Arrived at 6:30 Sunday evening and we were told it would be a half hour wait. The restaurant was more than half empty so we asked if it was because because the kitchen was too busy, could we be seated at a table and have drinks until the kitchen was ready to take orders again. They said yes. We were seated and it took 20 minutes before our drinks arrived. After we had been there for about 45 minutes, they finally took our food order. At that time, I had ordered a second drink. 15 minutes later my wife was ready for another drink as well so we flagged down the waitress. She placed her order and I mentioned to the waitress that I still hadn't received my drink yet. Another 10 minutes and we received our drinks. We also noticed that 3 tables that were seated after us had already received their food. When we mentioned it, we were told it was taking some time for my burger and while other tables had received their fish & chips (which is what my wife had ordered), they could bring out our order until both meals were ready. We finally received our food around 8:00, an hour & 1/2 after we arrived. My wife's meal was piping hot, right out of the fryer but my burger was cold and the bottom bun was soggy. The bacon which was billed as crispy on the menu was barely cooked and the onion ring that was supposed to come on top of the BBQ bacon burger was missing and the fries were cold. I will definitely never eat there again. read more

Decent location which can be accessed by bus, car or walking. When I went we got the nachos and they were super salty, almost like that was done intentionally to get us to get more drinks. The interior hasn't really changed a lot since Wild Wing moved out, would have been nice if they did something to update the inside instead of what looks to be a slapping of their logo over it and opening up. read more

I would never return to this establishment. The service was extremely slow and it wasn't even busy. My girlfriend and I were sitting at the bar having a couple of drinks, and the girl behind the bar was enjoying her drinks as much as the customers. WE finally got our food and it was okay for the price you pay. I find that the people that work there ignore many customers and focus on people they seem to know. Today I am writing about the Almonte location. We went as a sort of Hail Mary, as every other restaurant that has been in this location (including JR's - featured on "You Gotta Eat Here") has been awful. So, perhaps it is the location that is cursed - cuz this joint sucks too. The day we went they were out of fries, after our server had told us "we are really known for our fries". I respectfully pointed out that the are right beside a grocery store, to which we told that staff had called in sick and there was only 1 person in the back of house (cook, prep chef or dishwasher - your guess is as good as ours) and thus no one available to go to the store. We asked why the Manager on duty couldn't go to which we were told there was no Manager on site. Oh but they have carriage rides this weekend - that will help! Almonte, support local - local that care enough to have a Manager on site to not only hear your issues but to go and get some freakin potatoes! read more
