My car wasn't starting so I took it to All Pro. They charged me $1900 to fix it. The next day it won't start again. I took it to another shop for another diagnostic and they say the fix will cost thousands. At this point the cost of these repairs is more than the car is worth. If All Pro had diagnosed the problem correctly the first time I never would have agreed to their fixes. I contacted them to see if I could get some reimbursement for their failed work, or a reduced rate on further repairs and they declined both. They did manage to not fix my car in less than a day though, so I'll give them a star for that! read more

Air conditioner in my vehicle quit working, so I brought it in and they got to it right away. They recommended recharging the system with coolant and doing a leak test. That worked, but only held for a day. I called back and Pete said to bring it right back in, and they'd run the diagnostic. We had elected not to do that the first time, hoping that recharging the system would do the trick. Got it back in, and the condenser was bad. Because it's a Hybrid, the part was only available from Toyota -- it took overnight to get the part, and they had it back up and running the next morning. Replacing this part also required dropping the front bumper, in order to reach it, so it wasn't a real easy job. They discounted the repair for the cost of the previous days' recharge, since it didn't hold long. Pricing was reasonable given the difficulty in replacement, and they got the work done very quickly. read more

My 90 year old mother brought her car to this location for sevice on a window and air conditioning. She was told by Pete the manager it could be 1 1/2 hours or so which she said was fine as she brought a book. Less than 40 minutes later he comes back with a bill of almost $400, $250 of which was labor!!! No estimates were given except for the window repair of $100 that was given over the phone. I called Pete today after hearing from my mom who was very upset. He was defensive and kept saying "what do you want me to do"? Insisting that he'd given my mom an estimate and she was in a hurry, not true on both counts. Senior citizens, beware. BTW, all the AC needed was to be recharged. $254.00 FOR LABOR GIVE ME A BREAK. Update: After filing several complaints with Yelp, Google, AAA and the BBB. This issue is still unresolved. Chris who represented himself as the owner is accually the manager and posted a responce on Google where they have over "700" 5 star reviews, imagine that!! I was a bit overdue for an oil change and saw a coupon for this shop in a mailer that came to my house. I made an appt for 8am on a Wednesday morning. The guy who took down my information told me it would probably be about 30-45 mins so I thought I might be a little late for work. The shop opens at 7:30 and i got there around 7:45. They got my car in right away and I was out of there a little after 8! I made it to work with time to spare. Everyone one I talked to/helped me were very friendly. A few months ago my alternator and water pump unexpectedly went out on my vehicle. Which I then drove into All-pro and they were able to get me in right away. It took about 4 to 5 hours of repair, but I was glad they were able to get it done in that time. They also gave me a loner car to drive while my own vehicle was in repair which was great! I took my 2006 Honda Accord to All Pro Servicenter for a oil change and to fix an irregular idle. When I learned Pete's test drive couldn't find the irregular idle I walked 1/2 mile to the shop and drove the car with James who'd already hooked my car to his computer for a diagnostic. After our 10 minute test drive James had an idea and told me I needed new spark plugs for my car and the total price including spark plugs, oil change, and a diagnostic is $365. I told James I wasn't going to pay $365 for a useless diagnostic, and that the spark plugs cost $40. I said I'd pay $150 in compromise for the oil change, spark plugs, and labor. The General Manager named Chris, and I had a discussion. Chris insinuated I wanted a free car repair. I told Chris I didn't want to get ripped off, and that I'd pay $150, which is still highly profitable for a simple job. Chris couldn't control his temper and let out a childish rant ending with him calling me a "fucking asshole" while screaming he "hates customers like me." Chris told James to replace the new spark plugs with the old ones before returning my car. They closed the garage doors so I couldn't see my car. That job took James 5 minutes. which tells you how much they rip you off for labor at their shop. I also noticed the car was low oil after I took it home so I'd not be surprised if they removed some oil when putting back in my old spark plugs in an attempt to deliberately destroy my vehicle and finances. BTW, this review is shadow banned on google, which is possibly because I didn't actually pay for their bogus services. That should make smart customers wonder how many of All Pro Service Center' over 200 mostly 5 star reviews are genuine. Avoid All Pro Service Center like the plague. read more

My girl friend is in Des Moines on a temporary assignment and her car was over due for an oil change. I called Allpro and made an appointment for a Saturday morning. Kudos for them being open on Saturday as many shops are not. She uses only Mobil 1 and brought her own oil to the shop. They changed the oil and provided a filter using her oil and charged $40. I thought that was a little high since she provided the oil, but not totally out of line. Our mechanic here does it for $25. The disappointment came when she drove away from the shop and heard a clicking sound. Somehow she managed to pick up a screw through the tire during the oil change. Could have happened when they were moving the car around, but they should be sweeping up and looking out for debris. Since she could not definitively prove it happened at Allpro she went to Costco and had it repaired as that's where the tires were purchased. I can't recommend this shop based upon this one visit. read more

"ALL PRO" Their name says it all. These folks are honest, respectful and professional! I'm new to Des Moines and been putting off maintenance on my 2015 jeep as I'm unfamiliar with reasonable and reliable shops in the area. I simply googled top rated shops near me in Google search bar and was absolutely impressed with "Google reviews" of this shop. I called this shop and spoke with Pete. I asked for an estimate for my own diagnosis of my jeep. "Both rear wheel bearings" He was uneasy giving me quote as he in his experience hasn't come across both bearings failing at the same time. This is no easy nor cheap task to handle. Price he quoted happened to be $200 cheaper then my former mechanic back home. But he assured me to give him an opportunity to look at it before he quotes both sides. As it turns out only 1 bearing was bad which cut his estimate in half and allowed me to spend more money on other maintenance needing done that I would've otherwise had to put on hold due to budget. Pete was very respectful of my budget and offered other options for work at a later date. Not only did he repair everything in a very timely fashion but also reasonably priced. Also 1 week earlier I had my oil changed at a national chain just down the road from this shop. Turns out my engine was 3 quarts low on oil. Kuddos to them for finding and addressing this issue for me. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A HONEST, RESPECTFUL AND REASONABLE MECHANIC! I took my car in for an oil change. I was told that I needed a new water pump and a brake line repair for $900+. After further research the owner told me that the water pump was under warranty for 3 more days and so was the brake line. I was given a loaner car. Final result was $30 for the oil change with a coupon. Nice to have confidence and trust in the people working on your car. Great job All Pro. read more

Took my vehicle in for a second opinion on a check engine light, and ended up spending $1,100 on fixes and tests that made no difference to the problem. They were working from prescribed symptoms/remedies in a manual instead of really looking at the vehicle so have no confidence their fixes were necessary (I was given their reference materials after my last visit). Service was friendly and quick but I expected more and would not recommend going here to diagnose an engine issue. read more

I took my car into All Pro in November to simply get the antifreeze level checked and the tires rotated if they thought they needed it. After doing these things and a general checkup on the car they came back and proceeded to tell me that they did rotate the tires as it was needed and noticed the tires were choppy and said that I will need new shocks and struts to fix this problem. The estimate for these repairs came back at nearly $1400. Thinking that was outrageous and I hadn't noticed any issues with my vehicle (they said it would be bouncing) which only has 64,000 miles I refused the service that day and immediately called my trusted hometown auto body (where I have a parent working). The guy there immediately told me that I shouldn't need shocks and struts on a vehicle until at least 100,000 miles and to bring it in to him over Christmas to look at. He also stated that if I did by chance need them the cost would be at least half the price if not more. So it comes Christmas time and I take it in back home (again at the place where my parent works....they aren't going to screw me!). Come to find out my tires are not choppy, my shocks and struts are fine, and he rotated my tires back as he said they shouldn't have been rotated in the first place in November. I am a young single female who took my car into the All Pro near my house and basically they tried to screw me out of nearly $1400 for a repair that I didn't even need after simply asking for a small fix of antifreeze level check and tire rotation which ended up not being needed. I placed a call to this business in regards to this and they basically told me that if the computer tests they hook up to say something needs fixed that's what they go off....mind you no computer test was mentioned in first place. They said the mechanic noticed my tires were choppy and concluded I needed shocks and struts. In addition this is not my first incident with this place of business where they have tried to talk me into additional expensive repairs. I took it in once for a light on the dash and had a $600 sensor fix (which who knows if that was right). I also took it in for brakes that were nearly $900 which also seems extremely high. This place is extremely overly priced and their diagnostics are a joke, trying to rip people off! Just because I'm a young female I won't be trick into unnecessary repairs and the jokes on them when people have family connections in the auto body business that will be honest! I WILL NEVER give any business to this place again and will deter anyone that I know from going there as well. read more

Big shout out to All Pro Service Center in West Des Moines, Karl Chevrolet and GM. I was having problems with my AC on my out-of-warranty GM car. Took it into All Pro (we have used them for 10+ years), and they recommended that I take it to my dealer instead, because after diagnosing the issue, they felt it was a manufacturing defect and I should not have to pay to have it fixed. GM agreed to pay for more than 90% of the (very $$$) repairs. Grateful for the honesty at All Pro, and especially to Chris Nigon. Great guys. read more

I'm not sure we're to start but this was the worst experience me and my wife have ever had.. Started with our 2010 civic that had a few light on the dash light up after my wife got stuck in some snow and then the transmission started shifting a bit harder...took it to all pro they called within the hour and said it was fixed! 100$ came back excited, they said that it went into a dummy mode and it was a quick fix so we paid took the car one week later we are at a traffic light and all the lights pop up again on the dash board and the car starts shifting hard again! We Immediately called all pro back and said that Obviously the problem was not fixed and it started doing the same thing again So they said drop it off and so we did they call us back 2 hours later saying its fixed and said we owed them 130$ i asked why did we pay the first time if they didn't fix the problem and they started arguing with me also they decided to change my air filter on the car completely without my Consent and said it needed to be changed and also charged me for the filter Which we never asked for them to even touch or change! This was undoubtedly THE WORST customer service I have ever had in 40 yrs as an adult!!! I had the power steering pump replaced less than a year ago for $433 and it has gone out again. I didn't think that could be the problem so I took it to someone else who had worked on my son's car, and he said the pump was poor quality and was out again. He thought it might be the rack and pinion at first, but after checking it with an identical make & model with twice as many miles, it was clearly a poor quality pump that had been installed. But it was still under warranty with All Pro, so I took it back there. Owner calls me to say it was the rack & pinion, leaking coolant hose, and why don't we do an oil change while we're at it even though it wasn't due. After the THIRD TIME that he would not take no for an answer (rack & pinion alone is almost $1100) I interrupted him and said I only wanted the pump that was under warranty fixed. So the next day, after the time he said it would be done, I called and found out they hadn't even started it and wouldn't start it until "everything else was done". I said warranty work does not come after "everything else" so now he said he will not fix it until I apologized for interrupting him yesterday!!! I went and picked up my car before he could potentially create more issues and will be taking him to small claims for the cost of the pump under warranty. What kind of man gets all butt-hurt from a female not buying his load of crap? I see "the Owner's Response" to negative reviews is always lame excuses and/or blaming the car owner, so man-up and admit it when you make a mistake.
