I called for a simple transmission flush on a 2005 Altima. The guy thought you can't do a transmission flush on this car. He also wanted 2x the fair price and keep the car for 3 days on what takes an hour to do. Obviously, I passed on this one. I feel sorry for anyone that relies on them for "expert" advice. read more

I have now taken my car here 6 times, and the service is always top notch! I have an older subaru shes got a lot of mile on her 108k+ and her engine light keeps coming on. At Aamco they check out why it is on for FREE! This is not the only reason why I like this place, but it is the honesty that comes with the service. They are very up front with what's wrong and if it really needs to be repaired. I have always checked their estimates against other garages and they are always cost less. If you don't want to worried about getting the crank shaft when it comes to care repair, then set an appointment with this garage! Now I can not vouch for any other Aamco but the one in Urbandale has the best service. I would ask for Max when you call! read more

The guys are upfront and helpful about transmission repairs. Obviously no one wants to have to take their car to a transmission repair shop, so I'm sure that they have to deliver a lot of bad news on a daily basis, but they were great at providing options and solutions to our issue. read more

Terrible experience. Never never never go to the store on 7420 University ave, Clive, IA again. I wish I could give negative stars. I brought my car there, and explained the problems to them. But they didn't check carefully, just changed some broken parts to make sure the check engine light off. After I picked up the car, drove less than one mile, the same issue happened again. The attitude of the manager was terrible, not patient at all. He agreed to refund if I let them fix the car with me paying even more money. After I told him I would not fix it here, then he insisted there was nothing wrong with the work that they had done, and rejected any refund at all, and said he would never take money out of his pocket...I don't want other people to have this kind of terrible service any more, that's why I shared my experience. This AAMCO location is very pushy and the guy that runs it hates it when you want to consider your options. I had them replace 3 cracked solenoids in my transmission costing me over $2k and still have the same issue as before just not as frequently. Took it back in twice and they said no issue in transmission but issue with an O2 sensor. I told them that I can replace. I did that and now the check engine light is on and there's hard shift from park to reverse and then again into drive. This place doesn't fix the problem, they create new ones. read more

YOU LIE! Transmission is "clunking" from park to reverse. The service manager's diagnosis? A bad catalytic converter, and a computer that wouldn't communicate with the OBDII. The first part is not plausible, and the second part was swiftly disproven at the auto parts store. They even knew the transmission was a rebuild they put in. Go to All Drive Transmission instead. Aamco sold my daughter a used transmission with absolutely NO WARRANTY! The owner said that's what they agreed to... and the paper work does say so... but still, there should be some responsibility by Aamco for problems arising after only 5 weeks. He wouldn't even give me the name of where he bought the used tranny for me to see if they had the usual 60 or 90 day warranty on their merchandise. Didn't want me to bother his supplier... and besides "I told them over and over there was no warranty at all". Didn't even want to take it back to Aamco for them to look at it again. All Drive on MLK took a look at it and replaced the crappy old axle seals. All Drive says they always recommend new seals when they install a used tranny. Their supplier would have given a warranty of 90 days on a used tranny. Aamco needs to quit selling "No Warranty" used transmissions to young people. read more

Don't listen to this Adam Park. Review. This place is not a honest service station. I was recommended to this place from a " Christian " friend who loves Christian businesses. I had my one tow a year from my insurance to this place and wished I never gave business here. I had a starter replaced and it was well over 500. Ouch, we'll I figured since they were working on my car, I'll do a transmission fluid flush as well. This place wanted 100. It only cost 79.99 most places. They wouldn't even discount the price at the time. I did not do the fluid flush. An hour later they called me and would discount 10.00 since an appointment cancelled. Hell no. When they called again as my car was ready for pick up, I was given a final price with tax. I picked up and they somehow added 15.00 to the total cost and I wouldn't get my keys if I did not pay it. I have never had happen to me before and hope it never happens to you. Stay away from this place. Go to Budget Brakes on 6th Ave. And ask for Tim or anyone that works there for repairs. Very nice and honest people. Starter and installation 350 and if I did transmission flush, 49.99. I stopped there just to change fluid and their employees showed me how to fix some things no charge and looked over my car. Google or yelp their reviews. I recommend. read more

I have been very happy with the services I have gotten from Aamco on SE 14th. The staff has always been friendly even going so far as to take me home when I locked my key in the car to get the other key. (this was after I left there and was down the street). They have always taken care of any issues I go to them with and they are very reasonable in their prices. The work has been done to my satisfaction and the one time I was still having a "noise" they took it back in and fixed it at no charge to me. They have always been able to get me into the schedule on my time which is helpful. Most important they make me feel like I matter. They take the time to explain things to me so I understand what I am paying for. They don't treat me like a paycheck they treat me like a person. I would tell anyone who needs to have their car, truck, van, etc... repaired to take it to Aamco on SE 14th in Des Moines. read more
