Our initial inquiry was sent on a Saturday, but the owner, Ruy Barbosa, replied within an hour. He met us the following workday to go over our needs and discussed various options. He projected confidence at being able to renovate our deck yet maintain its overall look. He was willing to work with us and the city's historic commission to preserve some key features of the deck. During the course of the work, Ruy and his staff were responsive to questions or changes that we requested. Communication with them was great. They were eager to please us and found ways to make the project stay on-time and within budget, even when curve balls were thrown at them. Overall, they renovated our dilapidated deck boards with composite flooring. They removed heavy railings and pillars, completely overhauled the structural supports, installed the composite flooring and finally replaced the railings & pillars. Additionally, we had them pressure wash and paint the deck. The cost associated with the structural supports and flooring was very much in line with what we believed was reasonable. They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Here are some of the reasons why: Responsiveness and Communication: When we initially called Rob for an estimate, he got back to us that same day. Throughout the process, he let us know exactly where they were at with the project. Thorough Estimate: Rob came over and performed a three hour estimate/consultation with us, free of charge. He left no rock unturned, telling us all of our different options (from a pressure treated wood deck to a Trex deck with all of the different options and colors that come with it) and the pros and cons of each. There was absolutely no pressure to up-sell, which leads to the next point: Complete Willingness to Work - and Stay - Within Our Budget: We told Rob what our budget was and he maximized the deck space within it. Quality of Construction: The deck was impeccably designed and built. His three man team worked their tails off every day. Mike, the "quarterback" of the team, has built hundreds of decks, to give you a sense of how much experience they have. Complete Satisfaction: After the final walk-through, Rob told us that if we later see something that doesn't look right, we should call him and he will come out and make it right. That gave us peace of mind. When the job was finished, their clean-up was so meticulous that there wasn't a trace that any construction had just been performed. They even took a Shop Vac to our yard to collect the remaining sawdust! And finally, Rob is a Genuinely Nice Guy: Here is an example. Somehow, we got to talking about how my basement has been flooding and Rob recommended a product to seal the crack in the wall. Then he even offered to buy a tube of the sealant from the hardware store that he had to buy some stuff from that day. Or, another example: there was a little space left over in the dumpster that they used to throw away the debris from the old deck. Rob asked us if we had anything that we wanted to throw away before they removed the dumpster. Acts of kindness like that really made an impression. I strongly recommend calling Rob for an estimate if you are thinking about building a new deck. We couldn't be happier.

Douglas showed up immediately, provided a very timely estimate, and was able to get started on the work very soon thereafter. From initial consultation to start of the work, everything was smooth and very simple - he explained very clearly what was needed and kept making sure I had no questions. During the same visit, as he was assessing the roof on my garage, he inquired if I ever considered a skylight for the bonus room. In like manner, he had an assessment and estimate in my hands and, after I agreed, likewise made a point to begin the work as soon as he could. I've attached pictures to show progress. I am beyond pleased with the final product. Not only did they install a beautiful skylight, they repainted the rest of the wall to match and the finished work looks as if it were installed as part of the original bonus room. Douglas and his team clearly know roofing, windows, and framing. And their skills back up their work. To make things even better, when a subsequent wind & rain storm resulted in a few drips on the sides of the skylight, Douglas and team were back within days to reassess their work - they removed the skylight, re-checked and shored up the lining, and reinstalled the window in less than a day at no additional cost. Douglas and his company stand by their word and their work. It is a lost attribute in this world of service-providers, and thus working with them was refreshing. After four requests, I still haven't heard back. The main project involved removing a support column in the middle of the room. They sent someone who wasn't a builder or an engineer, yet is an essential consultant for this job. They wasted my time and showed no respect for the customer. They never responded to my emails or provided the requested quote. Terrible customer service! Be aware!
