Original Date: 8.31.2018…read more Yesterday afternoon I attended my very, very first church wedding ceremony for my beautiful friend who I know for 8 years. I was very early and rang the bell for 110-06 turned out it was the church's office. The church staff told me that the main entrance of the church for the wedding ceremony is on Ascan Ave. Also, I asked if my dad can park in the parking lot because it will be difficult to find because we are the strip of Austin Street. My dad waited in the parking lot while I attended my friend's wedding. Why am I giving 3 stars because during the ceremony...all the wedding guests can hear lawn mowing outside of the church grounds. I really hope the videographer can do his magic to remove or cover over that sound. Wow to the person whose phone kept going off then holding a conversation for 5 seconds. You can show some respect for my friends special moment as we witnessed their holy matrimony. I actually had to Google what does receiving a line from the Bride and Groom because this was my very first church wedding ceremony for over a decade. As we hugged the bride + groom + their family then everyone waited outside. Blowing bubbles was the more modern and fun way than throwing rice to congratulate the newlyweds. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Morgan!

My former love, disappointedly, refuse to register at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs as members. Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church is located on "Boulevard of Death" and Ascan Avenue is Queens' largest Catholic Cathedral residing one square block. Gorgeous stained glass windows including Rosetta windows adorn the church, and abbey stone arch doors. I would occassionally pop inside for a prayer and seek Holy Water which the grounds are well maintained.

Speaking off St. Bartholomew, nothing is known for sure about the life of Nathaniel/Bartholomew after the Ascension of Jesus, but tradition holds that he preached in the East and died a martyr's death in Armenia, being flayed alive for having won converts to the Lord Jesus. We went to St. Batholomew Catholic Church and while my husband went to confession. I sat at the entrance seat. I saw lots of people were coming to warship and the church look so beautiful for me. Mable poles and the arc are well made. Believe it or not, when I put on my GPS and bring me to this church. I was confused because there were at least three churches next to each other. Anyway, I kept going and found it. As the area is Asian, I thought this catholic church will be an Asian catholic church but actually, there are more Spanish member and priest.

It is great for a intimate wedding or for any small to medium size occasion. Very beautiful setting in the inside but I would say keep your jacket or coat on during the winter time. It was pretty chilly but watching the bride come down the aisle in this beautiful church warmed everyones heart. At one moment when the pastor started saying a prayer for the couple to be the sun shined through the window on to a mural of Jesus... Now if that wasn't a blessing then it was a set up either way it was absolutely beautiful.. The reception is also a medium size and intimate. Wasn't much decoration but the Bride and groom had a photo booth which was absolute smart and instead of waters running around with finger food they a had a table place setting that had all the fingers. The only down fall is there women's restroom was very two bathrooms booths but plenty of space to fix yourself and makeup. The cater and church did and amazing job on the bride and grooms wedding if I ever get propose to again I might come want my wedding here also, but maybe in the spring or fall just to be safe.

We also had the privilege of having our wedding here and it was simply spectacular. The staff was very courteous and attentive to all our needs. I highly recommend this affordable space. We hired a Catering company and they handled everything from A to Z brilliantly. Once the wedding was finished, we walked downstairs for a lovely reception, in the lower rotunda. I approach church with some trepidation, but nobody expects you to pretend you believe "six impossible things before breakfast." (Can you identify the original source of that quotation?) Another plus: this church has been through lots of transitions, just as the neighborhood has. Rather than developing a fortress mentality, they're wide open to adapting to the needs of new members. I felt that I belonged almost from the moment I walked (with more than a little apprehension) through the door.

They have services in Italian and Spanish as well to accommodate the diverse worshipping crowd and any place you sit will give you a clear view of priest doing his holy thing .Church was established in 1924 and has served the Astoria community a long time as this has been my uncle's church since he was a baby and still going strong , both he and the church as I was invited by unck to Sunday mass for the first time . The church itself is restored and quite spacious. The place is clean and doesn't have that oak / mothballs smell that some older churches tend to have. Priests have been good here and its big enough to where there are several priests at a time (at least on weekend mass) that give out communion. The ventilation is great, especially during summer but it can get really chilly in a hurry to where you'll might get goosebumps on your arms. The choir is decent, but they only have those occasionally. Finally, I hate how there is no mass after 12:30PM on Sundays and the fact they never answer their phones on the weekend. Getting mass times is a pain in the neck on Sunday so here they are: 7AM, 8:30AM, 11AM, 12:30PM
